Wilderness (Special Base)

Buzz!

The 12-inch-long black mosquito spotted the target. It immediately moved towards the target.

On the other hand, Jeremy Night saw the beast coming at him. The beast didn’t ignore him.

Jeremy understood that it was a corrupted beast. Not only that, he saw through the strength of the beast.

It was a Tier-5 Beast. He just didn’t know whether a swarm of the beasts would appear or not, but he decided to kill the beast first.

He was going to use the same method. He circulated the starlight power in his body. He covered his index finger with starlight thread.

Buzz!

Just as the beast got within ten meters, he released the attack.

”Shield of Nets”

A starlight thread shot from his index finger. He began to control the starlight threads in the shape of a net. Horizontal and vertical lines of starlight threads were formed.

When the first layer was done, he began to do the same for the second layer. In the blink of an eye, he completed the third and fourth layers.

The Shield of Nets, over 3 ft in length, appeared.

Swoosh!

The Tier-5 Blood Mosquito was coming at high speed. It saw through the strength of the human. It took him for a weak human.

Pfff!

The mouthparts of the Tier-5 Blood Mosquito came into contact with the Shield of Nets first.

Pfff!

The starlight thread was sharp. It sliced through the mouthparts. When the main body came into contact with the Shield of Nets, the multiple threads sliced through the main body.

Before the mosquito could touch him, the severed body parts fell to the ground.

Splash!

At the same time, gushes of blood splattered across the place. It stained the muddy water with blood.

The small running stream moving along the ground had become a stream of blood.

When all parts fell to the ground, Jeremy Night retracted the starlight power. The Shield of Nets reverted to several single-line threads.

He then retracted the starlight threads back into his body. Jeremy then began to look around. He knew the blood would draw the attention of other beasts.

So he left the place. There were also bloodstains on his clothes, but the heavy downpour of rain was washing away the blood.

Meanwhile,

A large swarm of mosquitoes came out from their hideout. The heavy rain, low visibility, and cold environment were a suitable environment for them to hunt.

More than one swarm of mosquitoes appeared in the sky. They were ready to go after their prey.

Buzz!

With their appearance, the buzzing sound increased drastically. Amidst the sound of rainwater, the buzzing of mosquitoes could be heard clearly.

Jeremy Night, who was heading forward, heard the sound as well. His expression darkened. The expected thing had happened.

He used his eye power to look at the sky. It didn’t take long for him to spot the mosquito swarms. There was not just one swarm, but multiple swarms.

Seeing that, Jeremy stayed silent for a second. He didn’t move, remaining quiet. He was afraid that unnecessary movements might alert the beasts.

The swarm of beasts might look small, but their vision covered a large area. If he moved alone in the open, he could be easily spotted.

So he tried to stay still. Even he didn’t know whether this would help or not, because the mosquito insect beasts could easily spot humans and beasts alike.

As time passed, the swarms of mosquitoes went in different directions. None of them came in his direction.

Jeremy watched them until they left. He then resumed his journey. Fortunately, the heavy downpour of rain didn’t continue for long.

It stopped after one hour. Bright light once again covered the wilderness, parting the dark clouds.

He then covered the distance faster. During his search, he came across more Rosebud Flowers. He then began collecting them one by one.

Slowly, the numbers were getting higher. He believed that with a few more spots, he would meet the mission quantity.

Time passed.

After collecting the flowers in this area, he decided to go further.

Buzz!

Just then, he heard that same annoying sound again.

Jeremy’s back went cold because the sound was getting closer. He turned around and saw the swarm of mosquito beasts coming in his direction.

At first, he thought it was a coincidence. Then he used his eye’s zoom-in power to check. He saw that it was the black mosquito insect beast.

It was the same kind as the one he had killed earlier. He immediately understood that he was exposed; the insect beasts might have followed the trail.

And there was no escape from the incoming swarm of mosquito beasts. Jeremy Night calmed his heart down.

He then took out the blade and held it in his left hand. He was going to do something crazy, because the swarm had at least a hundred mosquito beasts.

Buzz!

When the insect beasts got closer, he saw through their strength. They were all Tier-5 Beasts. He used his eye power to catch their details.

At the same time, his senses kicked in. The movement of the beasts appeared slow in his eyes. He immediately coated the blade in starlight power.

”Shield of Nets”

He then used the Shield of Nets. The starlight thread released from his forefinger began to form layers of the shield net, one after another.

The fourth layer of the shield net formed quickly.

Puchak!

Right then, the swarm of mosquitoes collided into the Shield of Nets. One after another, their bodies were sliced by the starlight threads.

Once they got stuck in the starlight threads, it was difficult to escape.

Puchak!

At the same time, he started swinging the blade around. The starlight blade cleaved through the bodies of the mosquitoes one after another.

When the beasts came to strike from behind him, he turned around from time to time to deal with them.

As time passed, the insect beast count began to reduce. The rainwater around him was stained with blood.

Fortunately, the insect beasts were Tier-5 beasts, not Tier-6 or higher. Otherwise, the situation could have been worse.

He was somehow managing it for now.
