Across the vast expanse of the universe, several powerful and mighty beings sensed a ripple of subtle yet absolute energy.
Powerful beings, forgotten races, and ancient existences that had slumbered throughout the ages began to stir, having found nothing interesting enough to look forward to in the universe anymore.
Even the mighty warriors and Overlords of the Order Path, alongside their eternal adversaries from the Chaos Path, began to react to the disturbance.
The Chaos Path, which had long desired to get its hands on the Origin in order to set its eternal plans into motion, was among the first to respond.
For countless ages, these beings had waited, searched, and schemed, each pursuing their own ambitions. Now, a ripple of energy had emerged from a seemingly insignificant realm, carrying an aura so extraordinary that it could no longer be ignored.
The entire universe seemed to groan beneath the weight of what was happening. Across countless realms, mighty beings rose from their seats, ancient eyes opened after eons of slumber, and powerful existences that had remained hidden from the rest of the universe finally stirred into action.
One after another, they rushed toward the small realm from which the ripple of power had originated.
Their speed was unimaginable. Some crossed vast stretches of space in a single instant, while others tore through the boundaries separating realms, their powerful auras causing the surrounding dimensions to tremble.
All of them were heading toward the same destination: the small realm where the Origin was fusing with its new master.
---
In a realm filled with countless treasures, the sight was enough to make even the most powerful beings in the universe lose their composure.
Everywhere the eye could reach, treasures filled the entire expanse. The skies were filled with them, the earth was covered with them, and even the vast oceans were filled to the brim with treasures whose value would make the mouths of countless powerhouses water.
Rare spiritual materials, ancient relics, priceless artifacts, and treasures whose origins could be traced back to forgotten eras were scattered throughout the realm in unimaginable quantities.
There was no shortage of anything.
In this place, even the most ordinary-looking object could possess a value that countless beings would spend their entire lives pursuing.
And yet, nestled atop one of the countless mountains of treasure was a dragon. Its enormous body lay motionless, its massive form surrounded by an aura of immeasurable majesty.
Every single scale covering its body seemed to shift and change from one moment to the next, as though each scale contained a world of its own, constantly transforming into something different.
The dragon appeared to be resting. However, beneath that seemingly peaceful exterior was a being whose senses extended far beyond what ordinary existences could comprehend.
Suddenly, a subtle ripple of energy flashed through the realm and reached the dragon.
One of its massive eyes slowly opened, glimmering with a strange light as the dragon turned its gaze toward the distant horizon. For a brief moment, something resembling shock appeared within its eye.
That was undoubtedly a treasure!
The dragon’s senses for detecting invaluable treasures were in a league of their own. Throughout the countless ages it had lived, it had encountered and collected treasures that would be enough to drive countless powerhouses mad with desire.
Its ability to sense the value of treasures was something it took immense pride in. Yet, even with all its experience, the faint ripple it had just sensed left it struggling to believe what its instincts were telling it.
The treasure responsible for that ripple was far more valuable than all the treasures in this realm combined!
How was that even possible?
The mighty dragon slowly raised its head, its gaze sweeping across the endless mountains of invaluable treasures surrounding it. These were the treasures it had painstakingly collected throughout the ages, each possessing extraordinary value.
The combined worth of everything in this realm was enough to make even the most powerful beings in the universe covet its collection.
Yet, according to its senses, the treasure that had just revealed itself was worth more than all of them put together.
The dragon’s massive eye narrowed. For a moment, it simply stared into the distance, as though trying to determine whether its senses had somehow deceived it.
But no matter how many times it examined that faint ripple, the result remained the same.
There was no mistake. A treasure of unimaginable value had appeared, and it was somewhere far away from this realm.
Gradually, the shock in the dragon’s eye gave way to something else: greed.
An intense, almost uncontrollable greed flashed through its gaze, and the aura surrounding its enormous body began to fluctuate.
”I must get it...”
The dragon spoke in a deep voice, its words reverberating throughout the realm. It had collected countless treasures throughout its existence, but this was the first time it had sensed something whose value dwarfed its entire collection.
There was absolutely no way it would let such an opportunity slip through its claws.
The dragon’s enormous wings slowly rose toward the sky before it lunged forward without another moment of hesitation.
A powerful beam of light shot out from its gaping maw, tearing through the surrounding space and creating a massive portal directly before it. The portal opened with a tremendous ripple of energy, revealing a passage through space.
The dragon didn’t hesitate. Its enormous body rushed forward and disappeared into the portal, leaving behind the endless mountains of treasure that had once occupied its attention.
Its destination was none other than the small realm where the Origin was fusing with its new master.
And the dragon was far from being the only one blinded by greed.
Across the universe, every being possessing enough power to shake galaxies and destabilize realms began reacting to the extraordinary energy. The treasure’s aura was simply too magnificent for them to ignore.
Even those who couldn’t fully comprehend what they were sensing could feel that whatever had produced the ripple was something extraordinary, something that might surpass every treasure they had ever encountered.
And so, countless powerful beings began moving toward its source. Some abandoned whatever they had been doing, while others immediately tore through space and crossed realm boundaries, desperate to reach the treasure before anyone else could claim it.
However, not everyone made the same decision.
There were also powerful beings who chose not to participate. Some remained where they were, watching the situation from a distance as though they possessed knowledge that the others lacked.
They could sense the same extraordinary aura and understood its allure. But rather than allowing their greed to dictate their actions, they chose to remain behind, as though they already knew something the others had yet to discover.
---
In a small realm, several powerful beings had gathered for a meeting.
The atmosphere within the gathering place was tense, and everyone’s attention was focused on the person seated at the head of the table.
”What do you mean by telling us not to join in?”
A woman with two beautiful horns spoke, her eyes glinting with displeasure. Her expression made it clear that she wasn’t satisfied with the situation.
If she hadn’t been summoned by the alliance, she would have already left for the location where the treasure was being sensed.
After all, the value of that treasure was simply too great, far too great to be left behind for others to claim. There was no telling what kind of power such a treasure possessed, but the mere fact that its aura could spread across the universe and stir countless powerful beings was enough to demonstrate its extraordinary nature.
Leaving it behind without even attempting to obtain it was something she found difficult to accept.
”Why?” she asked again, her gaze fixed on the individual seated at the head of the table.
The being looked like nothing more than an ordinary human. There was nothing particularly remarkable about his appearance, and his presence was so restrained that someone who didn’t know him might easily mistake him for a mundane existence.
But no one present would ever make such a mistake. They knew exactly who he was, and they knew that beneath that seemingly ordinary exterior was a being whose power and wisdom were worthy of their respect.
Before the woman could say anything else, another lady raised her hand, signaling for the horned woman to calm down.
”He must have his reasons,” she said, turning her gaze toward the mundane-looking man. Her voice was calm, but even she couldn’t completely conceal her curiosity.
After all, she, too, had sensed the extraordinary energy and understood just how valuable the treasure might be.
The horned woman frowned but eventually turned her attention back to the man at the head of the table.
”Just explain it already, Avaroth. Why don’t you want us to get involved in this?”
Her words echoed throughout the gathering place as everyone present waited for an answer.
It wasn’t as though they were ordinary beings who could be easily persuaded to abandon such an opportunity. Each and every member of the alliance was a powerhouse.
Some of them were among the strongest existences in the entire universe, beings whose names alone were enough to make countless powerful races exercise caution.
They had survived countless dangers, overcome unimaginable challenges, and accumulated enough power to stand at the very peak of existence. They weren’t the kind of people who would simply back down from an opportunity to obtain what their senses identified as the greatest treasure they had ever encountered.
And yet, their leader was telling them not to interfere.
Naturally, they wanted to know why.
Avaroth remained silent for a moment, his gaze moving calmly across the gathering. He passed over the horned woman before briefly settling on the other lady, his expression almost blank and revealing neither irritation nor impatience.
Then, he spoke.
”I am not stopping any of you from interfering.”
His voice was calm and straightforward.
”If you want to join in, then you are free to do so.”
The members of the alliance exchanged glances as Avaroth continued.
”I simply felt that, as the leader of this alliance, it was my responsibility to inform all of you about the consequences of your decision.”
He paused briefly, allowing his words to settle before delivering his next statement.
”If you go after that treasure right now, you will certainly die.”
Silence fell over the gathering.
Avaroth’s expression didn’t change as he continued speaking.
”So, if you are willing to lose your lives over it, then go ahead.”
The members of the alliance were dumbfounded.
They had been expecting some grand explanation, perhaps a complicated reason involving ancient secrets, political calculations, or some deep-rooted conflict that had been developing throughout the ages.
Instead, their leader had simply told them that they would die if they went.
Just like that.
No lengthy explanation, no complicated reasoning, only a straightforward declaration that if they went after the treasure, they would certainly die.
But could beings like them even be killed so easily?
Of course, it was possible. No matter how powerful someone became, there would always be existences capable of threatening their lives.
However, killing a being like them was no simple feat. It would require extraordinary power, meticulous preparation, or an opponent whose strength surpassed their own by a considerable margin.
And yet, Avaroth had spoken with such certainty that it was almost as though he had already witnessed their deaths.
He didn’t sound as if he were making a prediction. He sounded as though he were stating an undeniable fact, almost as if he believed the entire alliance would be wiped out if they interfered.
Before anyone could recover from their shock, Avaroth spoke again.
”And even if all of you decide to team up and go after it together, the result will remain the same.”
His gaze swept across the table.
”If the alliance interferes, all of you will still die.”
The jaws of the alliance members dropped open in shock.
What had they just heard?
Even if they went together, even if the entire alliance acted as one, they would still be wiped out?
For a moment, several of them wondered whether their leader was joking. But one look at Avaroth’s expression was enough to tell them otherwise.
He was completely serious, and that realization only made the situation more disturbing.
Avaroth had no more to say. Without uttering another word, he vanished from the gathering place, leaving behind a room filled with stunned and bewildered powerhouses.
For a long moment, no one spoke. They could only stare at the place where their leader had been seated, struggling to process what he had just told them.
---
Avaroth appeared atop a pillar that towered high into the sky.
The enormous pillar stood proudly within the realm, its peak extending into the distant heavens. Yet, despite the grandeur of his surroundings, Avaroth paid little attention to anything around him.
His expression remained as calm as ever, but there was something in his eyes that he rarely allowed others to see.
Awe.
Vast and immeasurable by any standards.
He stared into the distant expanse, his gaze seemingly penetrating the countless layers of space separating him from the source of the disturbance.
”To think...”
Avaroth murmured softly.
”To think that the mythical, ancient, legendary Origin truly exists.”
