I Seek Immortality Through Serendipity

”A grander scale?”

”Junior Sister, could you tell me more in detail?”

Gu Yuan slightly furrowed his brow, then asked further.

His knowledge of the Flowing Cloud Banquet all came from the Scripture Pavilion.

However, since the Flowing Cloud Banquet is held only once every hundred years, he had previously only skimmed through the texts in the Scripture Pavilion, without delving deeply, only grasping the basics.

Now, having obtained the Three-Heart Gold Seal, his comprehension had greatly increased, and he could surely comprehend the Foundation Establishment Method, after which, the only task remaining would be to find the ”Heaven-Earth Qi.”

Originally, he had to rely on himself to find the Heaven-Earth Qi, but now, with the opening of the Flowing Cloud Banquet, it meant that various types of Spiritual Qi would surely be bestowed upon them, saving him the trouble of searching tirelessly.

Once he acquires the Spiritual Qi, Foundation Establishment would be within reach!

This is a matter of great importance, and he must understand it thoroughly to seize the initiative.

Upon hearing this, Bian Chuyao gently smiled and explained, ”Senior Brother, you may not know, the Flowing Cloud Banquet in the past was a gathering of cultivators at the Qi Refining Ninth Layer who had comprehended the Foundation Establishment Method, to feast at the Ancient Mountain Peak. They would compete for the ten ’Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi’ bestowed by the Daoist School using their strength and root bone as leverage.”

”Only ten strands of Qi; whoever obtains them can establish their foundation. If they lose, they will have to find the Spiritual Qi on their own.”

”But this time is different. This time, the Daoist School will bestow thirty strands of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi at once!”

”Thirty strands?!”

Gu Yuan was shocked, unable to help but click his tongue. As expected of a major sect, truly magnanimous.

But then, he had another question: ”Could it be that this time the Daoist School intends for all cultivators to establish their foundation together to enhance their strength?”

Preparing for the future, nurturing disciples using a method akin to flooding?

”Indeed, it is to allow more Qi Refining disciples to establish their foundation and bolster the Daoist School’s strength, but it is not as simple as it seems. Has Senior Brother heard of the Ten Great True Inheritances’ contest?”

Bian Chuyao asked in return.

Gu Yuan nodded.

The Ten Great True Inheritances had been a heated topic for a long time since obtaining a True Inheritance Position means gaining access to a Tier Three Spirit Island, a tremendous resource indeed!

”This matter is related to the True Inheritance Positions.”

”To obtain a True Inheritance Position, the primary requirement is to establish the foundation, and there is also an age limit; one cannot be over a hundred years old. After a hundred, it becomes very difficult to compete for a True Inheritance Position unless one can demonstrate immense merit and potential.”

”As long as these two conditions are met, anyone in the Daoist School can vie for a True Inheritance Position.”

”But Senior Brother must know that our Cyan Peak Daoist School is not just an ordinary small sect. There are quite a few Foundation Establishment cultivators under one hundred years old in the sect, some having been established for decades, with deep accumulations and entrenched forces.”

”And the True Inheritance contest must begin within ten years at most.”

”Newly established Foundation Establishments within those ten years will hardly compete with the seasoned ones. It is somewhat unfair.”

”Therefore, the Daoist School specifically set up this Flowing Cloud Banquet.”

”Although the Flowing Cloud Banquet will bestow thirty strands of Qi this time, only ten people can compete for it.”

”In the Ancient Mountain Peak, a grand competition will determine ten spots. These ten will each receive one strand of Spiritual Qi based on their cultivation techniques and then be given a token granting entry into the Ancient Mountain Secret Realm.”

”Inside the Secret Realm, the remaining twenty strands of Spiritual Qi will be stored.”

”With these twenty strands, it’s all up to the individual methods. The stronger ones can snatch three, even five strands! The weaker ones might not even get one.”

At this point, Bian Chuyao’s eyes sparkled with expectation as she looked at Gu Yuan.

Gu Yuan slightly furrowed his brow, somewhat confused: ”One only needs one Qi to establish foundation, so what’s the use of those ten people fighting for the extra strands? Could it be for sale? To gain resources?”

As he spoke, Gu Yuan suddenly realized.

”A team?!”

Bian Chuyao nodded with a smile.

”The Ten Great True Inheritances bear the responsibility of expeditions, leading disciples to slay demons and seize veins, and expand the sect’s territories.”

”Such individuals cannot fight alone; they must have their own team.”

”Every True Inheritance is a pinnacle within the Daoist School!”

”And the Flowing Cloud Banquet is a form of compensation for newly established Foundation Establishment disciples. Those with substantial methods can quickly build their own forces relying on this ’Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi.’”

At this point, Bian Chuyao tilted her head, softly requesting from Gu Yuan: ”Senior Brother, you have defeated Senior Brother Deng, and ordinary Golden Core Sect disciples are no match for you anymore. If you can enter the Ancient Mountain Secret Realm, we can continue to join forces!”

”My Bian Family will not short-change you!”

Gu Yuan pondered for a moment but did not respond immediately.

He had not expected the Flowing Cloud Banquet to be so intricate, involving the True Inheritance matter.

But upon reflection, it made sense, since the True Inheritance is rewarded with a Tier Three Spirit Island, which absolutely can support more than just one True Disciple, allowing many disciples to benefit.

The Daoist School’s goal is to establish ten new pinnacles, fostering competition within the school.

The most outstanding one might just be the school’s future leader.

No wonder the True Inheritance Positions are so enticing.

Resources, power, status — everything one could desire, like a royal contest among princes.

And now, everyone’s goal is first to become one of the ”ten princes.”

”As for joining forces, let’s discuss that later; for now, let’s return to the school!”

Gu Yuan contemplated for a moment before giving this response, then closed his eyes to meditate, speaking no further.

Seeing this, Bian Chuyao bit her silver teeth, feeling somewhat indignant.

This guy surely thinks I am not strong enough!

After this conversation, the two ceased their discussion and, after sitting in silence for several days, calmly returned to the Daoist School.
