Nine Revolutions Star Transformation

Chapter 421: Chapter 434: Testing the Sword

Chu Linfeng glanced at the man. He was a middle-aged man with a thick beard and a tall stature, a true burly figure. It was unbelievable that someone so robust could break through to the Divine Martial Realm.

The merchant also took a look at the man and said, ”Not everyone can try this sword. Of course, if you think you have enough power, you need to first pay a hundred top-grade Star Stones. If you can make the sword blaze with fire, then it will be yours.

This means the sword is sold for a hundred top-grade Star Stones, but if you can’t make the sword burst into flames, those Star Stones become mine. Honest dealings for the wise among you willing to pay up. I only allow those above the Divine Martial Realm to try, to spare everyone from wasting money and to avoid accusations of deception.”

The merchant spoke plainly, and everyone understood his meaning. He truly appeared to be acting with integrity, though whether that was the case remained to be seen.

Onlookers watched the middle-aged man, judging by his attire, he seemed wealthy. They were all waiting for him to spend a hundred top-grade Star Stones to test the sword.

A hundred top-grade Star Stones was considered a fortune in Chu Linfeng’s Celestial Dragon Country, but in this Canglan Ancient Land, it wasn’t much. Some people had dozens of top-grade Star Stones.

The middle-aged man, not wanting to lose face in front of everyone, took out a hundred top-grade Star Stones from his Storage Belt and said, ”Here are a hundred Star Stones, look closely. If I can make this sword burst into flames, then the Fire Dragon Sword will belong to me.”

After receiving the Star Stones from the middle-aged man, the merchant put them directly into his Storage Ring and said readily, ”I will not go back on my word. A fine sword suits a hero; only in the hands of a true expert can it reach its full potential.”

These words were undeniably flattering to the middle-aged man. However, to Chu Linfeng, they felt off, indicating that the merchant’s status might not be low, potentially hinting at some scheme. He watched carefully, hoping to perceive any flaws.

Then he asked Sword Spirit, ”Sister Yue’Er, does this Fire Dragon Sword count as a good weapon? Why do I feel like this merchant is deceiving people? With his above Fifth Level of Divine Martial Realm strength, making it burst into flames would be a stretch, let alone others.”

”Hehe, Lin Feng, you’ve read it wrong this time. That middle-aged man isn’t merely at the Fifth Level of Divine Martial Realm; he at least possesses Eighth Layer of Divine Martial Realm strength, and the Fire Dragon Sword does have an impressive origin. It’s strange to see it appear here.” Sword Spirit said.

”What? Eighth Layer of Divine Martial Realm, that can’t be right. I think no one here can make that Fire Dragon Sword blaze. Each person who tries can only obediently give him a hundred Star Stones, seemingly a huge profit without any cost.” Chu Linfeng exclaimed in surprise.

”You’re mistaken; there is someone here who can make it blaze, and in fact, it would be a substantial flame. Whether that person would not honor the deal is unknown.” Sword Spirit said.

”Who has such strength? I see no one in the crowd with Eighth Layer of Divine Martial Realm status. You aren’t trying to fool me, are you?” Chu Linfeng asked skeptically, thinking others would surely share the doubt.

”You’re truly dim-witted; so much so that I don’t want to speak with you. This person is you. You have mastered the Fire Element, making the sword blaze is exceedingly easy. I really wonder what’s inside your head.” Sword Spirit said.

Chu Linfeng suddenly understood and asked, ”What is the origin of this Fire Dragon Sword? Why does it appear here? If it’s such a powerful weapon, why hasn’t an expert seized it? Even if he’s powerful at Eighth Layer of Divine Martial Realm, the Canglan Ancient Land is full of experts; it’s too easy to end him.”

”The name alone tells you the sword’s exceptional nature; it’s a renowned sword among the Dragon Race, once the weapon of the Fire Dragon King. It’s baffling to see it here, and it’s also sealed, adding to the mystery.” Sword Spirit explained.

”Fire Dragon King? Who is the Fire Dragon King? Isn’t the Dragon Race’s king the Golden Dragon? Being sealed again is very odd. Why must divine weapons be sealed?” Chu Linfeng questioned, feeling confused.

”The Fire Dragon King is naturally the ruler of the Fire Dragons. He participated in the Divine Battlefield back in the day, whether he died or not is unknown, but since his gear appears here, he should have fallen. Or possibly used the Dragon Race’s Secret Technique to seal himself within the Fire Dragon Sword.” Sword Spirit said.

Chu Linfeng didn’t speak further, pondering how even someone of the Fire Dragon King’s strength could fall, wondering about the nature of the Divine Battlefield, why only the strongest reached it, and what transpired back then to draw the peace-loving Dragon Race into the conflict.

Just then, the merchant handed the Fire Dragon Sword to the middle-aged man and said, ”You have three chances. If they all fail, the Fire Dragon Sword isn’t yours. Please adhere to the rules and let the next hero try.”

”Don’t worry, I won’t break the rules. Today, I’ll show you how I make the Fire Dragon Sword burst into flames.” The middle-aged man spoke and quickly channeled his Star Power into it.

After several minutes, sweat began to bead on the middle-aged man’s face, clinging humorously to his beard. Yet, the Fire Dragon Sword only exhibited a faint red hue, with no flames emerging.

It seemed the middle-aged man had exerted his full effort. He gradually stopped, panting heavily, and said, ”This sword is truly uncanny; I used all my might and couldn’t make it blaze, looks like it’s not for me.”

He handed the sword back to the merchant, and it appeared the man remained honorable without an intention to possess the Fire Dragon Sword.

”Are there any other heroes who would like to try? Perhaps you are the true master of the Fire Dragon Sword.” The merchant called.

Then, another person stepped before the merchant and said, ”Let me try. I haven’t stretched my muscles in a while; today, I’ll demonstrate in front of everyone.”

The speaker was a white-haired elder. To Chu Linfeng, although elderly, his strength likely didn’t surpass Fourth Layer of Divine Martial Realm, possibly revealing flames from the Fire Dragon Sword seemed unlikely.

Following the rules, he paid the merchant a hundred top-grade Star Stones and took the Fire Dragon Sword, yet didn’t immediately channel Star Power into it, instead slowly gathering the Fire Element.

Chu Linfeng chuckled internally, thinking the old fellow might attempt making the sword appear red, then burst into flames using the Fire Element.

Yet the merchant seemed utterly indifferent to the old man’s actions, and didn’t intervene. After a while, the elder infused all gathered Fire Elements into the sword, yet the result left him baffled.

The Fire Dragon Sword showed no response, and the Fire Element vanished instantly, seeming absorbed by the Fire Dragon Sword...
