Chapter 1806 - 949: Red Demon (Part 2)

The top 4th grade corpse refining materials set up a corpse refining array, and Li Shiming placed the body of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao into the machine room space, beginning to inscribe the ’Refining Corpse Rune’ on it.

In ninety-nine days, the Yin Cold Energy within the corpse refining array reached its peak.

On the body of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao, 2.5 billion ’Refining Corpse Runes’ were also inscribed. Up to this step, he was extremely proficient.

He placed the body of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao inside the corpse refining array and stood outside the array, sensing the changes of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao inside the array.

The Yin Cold Energy entered the body of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao, and the ’Refining Corpse Rune’ transformed into various rule imprints.

The ’Speed Rule Imprint’, ’Power Rule Imprint’, and ’Defense Rule Imprint’ did not change.

However, the body of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao did not sprout wings, which was completely different from the Duke of Thunder.

The body of the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao swelled, growing from normal height to three meters. Red scales appeared on the surface of its body, a pair of crimson-gold horns atop its head, and a sharp tail sprouted behind it.

However, inside, only one additional ’Flame Rule Mark’ appeared.

In Li Shiming’s perception, this ’Flame Rule Mark’ was extremely powerful, the strongest rule mark he had ever seen.

This left him somewhat confused; why did merely the change in the body’s attributes cause such a large mutation in the refined corpse?

Compared to the Duke of Thunder, this corpse refining lacked the ’Space Rule Imprint’ and ’Thunder Rule Imprint’, especially the absence of the ’Space Rule Imprint’, which put the refined corpse at a significant speed disadvantage.

One must understand, even previously, despite possessing the ’Thunder Rule Imprint’, the lightning power it unleashed was quite limited.

Of course, this limitation was relative to the Half-step Great Power, as the lightning attacks barely impacted the Half-step Great Power, serving only as auxiliary in combat.

What truly decided the outcome of the battle was relying on the Duke of Thunder’s close combat attacks.

If it were not for the assistance of the ’Space Rule Imprint’, lacking space abilities, the Duke of Thunder’s combat strength would be reduced by at least half.

Li Shiming frowned slightly, feeling that this experiment was a failure.

Even if this refined corpse could survive the Heavenly Tribulation, it might not have much use.

He did not refine this corpse for fighting Great Cultivators.

It’s not arrogance; with his current strength, he could easily handle any Great Cultivator, even a group of them.

What he needed was a refined corpse to combat Half-step Great Powers, and a refined corpse without space abilities might not even be able to get close to a Half-step Great Power, let alone fight one!

Despite his disappointment, he still observed the process of this corpse refining undergoing the Heavenly Tribulation.

He did not intervene in the heavenly tribulation of the refined corpse, having witnessed the Duke of Thunder undergoing a heavenly tribulation alone, knowing that if this refined corpse couldn’t survive the heavenly tribulation, it was even less necessary to exist.

Unexpectedly, to Li Shiming, although the nine Heavenly Thunders charred the entire body of the refined corpse, its defensive power was evidently stronger than that of the Duke of Thunder. After withstanding nine Heavenly Thunders, it hardly suffered any severe injuries.

This allowed the energy converted from the heavenly reward to strengthen other aspects of the refined corpse more.

”Let’s call you Red Demon!” Li Shiming looked at the refined corpse standing in front of him and, after thinking it over, gave it a name.

In the short term, the name ’Red Demon’ would probably belong solely to this refined corpse, unlike the Duke of Thunder, which was the name of two refined corpses.

Li Shiming was also too lazy to name the two Dukes of Thunder separately. After all, he and his avatar Li Yuanba each owned one Duke of Thunder, which didn’t affect the naming.

To create another ’Red Demon’, it would require slaying another Half-step Great Power from the Infinite Sect to obtain a Half-step Great Power’s corpse.

Perhaps in the Cultivation World, only Li Shiming could have such means and thoughts, using the body of a Half-step Great Power to refinate a refined corpse and succeeding.

This success was thanks to the presence of IBMz15, where complex analytical and research work unimaginable by cultivators could be easily handled with the computing power of IBMz15.

Li Shiming took Red Demon and left the continent, arriving above the sea.

Although he considered Red Demon not to be successful, to the Dongqi Continent, Red Demon’s existence was still too powerful.

He could only take Red Demon to the sea to test its abilities. Regardless of whether the experiment succeeded, this test was crucial, providing valuable experimental data.

Li Shiming released the Duke of Thunder and then issued an order to Red Demon.

During the previous tests on the Duke of Thunder, due to the lack of references, much of the experimental data relied on testing and estimation.

Now it was different; the combat power of the Duke of Thunder had been accurately assessed through the battle with the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao.

With the Duke of Thunder as a reference, the accurate combat power of Red Demon could be tested.

Red Demon and the Duke of Thunder stared at each other, both letting out a howl. The Duke of Thunder’s figure disappeared from its original spot, then appeared beside Red Demon, throwing a punch at Red Demon’s body.

Red Demon didn’t move, which was Li Shiming’s order, as he wanted to see how the defensive power of Red Demon was.

With a ’bang’, the Duke of Thunder’s fist hit the chest of Red Demon, causing Red Demon’s body to sway and involuntarily step back a few steps.

Li Shiming’s eyes lit up. Although the Duke of Thunder exerted only seventy percent of its power, the attack comparison allowed him to determine that Red Demon’s defense reached an extreme level.

He issued another order, and the Duke of Thunder increased its strength to eighty percent, striking Red Demon once again.

The spot where Red Demon was hit, the red scales transmitted like water waves to all the scales on its body, and this time it took one less step back.

Then the Duke of Thunder increased its power to a hundred percent, punching Red Demon into a flying retreat of over ten meters, but it didn’t cause much damage to Red Demon.

The red scales covering Red Demon were extremely effective in defense, reducing some of the impact of the attacks. The red scales were also extremely tough, with the Duke of Thunder’s nails only leaving imprints on them.

Breaking through the red scales might require dozens of consecutive attacks on the same spot to penetrate the scales’ defense, and this time was sufficient for Red Demon to launch multiple attacks.

Red Demon’s defensive power was indeed very strong, and Li Shiming commanded Red Demon to attack the Duke of Thunder.

Since both were his refined corpses, Li Shiming didn’t have Red Demon use its sharper claws, but instead, it used its fists as well.

Upon throwing a punch, Li Shiming couldn’t help but shake his head, feeling that in close combat, Red Demon’s strength was at most equal to that of the Duke of Thunder.

However, without the space movement abilities of the Duke of Thunder, in battling Half-step Great Powers, Red Demon could not maintain constant attacks on them, rendering its close combat strength comparatively weaker.

Finally, Li Shiming commanded Red Demon to unleash a fire attack.

This was an ability Red Demon had acquired from the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao. Judging by the lightning ability acquired by the Duke of Thunder, Li Shiming didn’t hold much hope for Red Demon’s fire ability.

However, when Red Demon unleashed the fire, Li Shiming sensed something amiss.

Just as the fire was about to strike the Duke of Thunder, the Duke of Thunder instinctively sensed danger, vanishing from its original spot in a flash.

”So that’s it; I was mistaken!” Li Shiming exclaimed, looking at the fire emitted by Red Demon, laughing.

The fire emitted by Red Demon, due to the powerful ’Flame Rule Mark’ within it, reached a relatively high level among Half-step Great Powers.

And fire was inherently a powerful attacking energy, causing tremendous damage.

Judging by the power of Red Demon’s fire, it could likely inflict considerable damage to the Half-step Great Power Zhao Zhao.

This was the power of just one fire attack, meaning that one fire attack from Red Demon equaled the total power of several close-range attacks of the Duke of Thunder.

In Li Shiming’s view, the Duke of Thunder was akin to an assassin, while Red Demon was like a mage, each having its distinct features.
