Chapter 979: Chapter 536: Heavenly Ghost

This time, no cultivator came to disturb the heavenly tribulation, which made Li Shiming somewhat surprised.

Just as he was about to leave, he had to stop again.

He released the heavenly ghost, which was undergoing changes at this moment, with the energy within it continuously purifying.

”It’s advancing again!” He naturally knew what was happening, he just didn’t expect the heavenly ghost to advance so quickly.

He couldn’t help but shake his head, the heavenly ghost’s advancement was much more troublesome than the golden corpse black shield’s.

Although the golden corpse black shield is also an evil being, at least it has a body, and it is known for its defense, so it has some confidence when confronting the heavenly tribulation.

But the heavenly ghost is different, it doesn’t have a tangible body, its body is entirely composed of mental energy.

And heavenly thunder is definitely the nemesis of mental energy; without external help, the heavenly ghost would likely struggle to withstand even a single strike of heavenly thunder.

As he observed the heavenly ghost’s changes, he began making preparations.

First, he used a fourth-grade array flag to set up a formation to counter the heavenly thunder. The effectiveness of this formation depended on the power of the lightning the heavenly ghost would face.

He also prepared an electromagnetic shielding metal round cage and several lightning rods, all meant to minimize the heavenly ghost’s contact with the heavenly thunder.

The mental energy within the heavenly ghost had increased to the fourth grade, which caught Li Shiming’s attention, as the heavenly ghost’s exterior also upgraded to the fourth grade, bringing him some peace of mind.

This kind of being like the heavenly ghost shouldn’t exist; it was created by Li Shiming himself.

A third-grade ghost combined with a heavenly demon shell, forming the heavenly ghost. He used to worry if the heavenly ghost was a forced merge of a third-grade ghost and a heavenly demon shell, each existing independently.

Now it seemed they had fused into one, with the advancement occurring simultaneously.

The advancement process of the heavenly ghost was straightforward, of course, for it contained all the energy of a fourth-grade mid-stage ghost.

In the sky, thunderclouds reappeared, possibly because beings like the heavenly ghost weren’t native to this world. The heaven and earth rules did not consider the heavenly ghost an evil being, just an ordinary life form, and the power of the lightning within the thunderclouds was the weakest he had ever seen.

This alleviated many of his concerns; he took out the Heavenly Strike Thunder Hammer, first casting a spell on the heavenly ghost to increase its lightning resistance, and then, not feeling reassured, he embedded the Heavenly Strike Thunder Hammer into the heavenly ghost’s body.

In case of an unavoidable situation, the Heavenly Strike Thunder Hammer would serve as the heavenly ghost’s last line of defense.

The first strike of heavenly thunder fell, looking imposing but honestly lacking in power.

It’s important to know that this kind of heavenly tribulation was targeting newly advanced fourth-grade life forms, most of whom didn’t fully possess fourth-grade abilities.

It’s just that beings like Li Shiming, along with his spiritual pets and corpse refinements, were too extraordinary, prompting heavenly tribulations far beyond the norm.

The heavenly thunder struck, blocked by the formation’s energy. The formation set up with the fourth-grade array flag wasn’t broken by the first strike of heavenly thunder.

Of course, the formation’s energy was mostly depleted, making it unable to block a second strike.

As expected, when the second strike of heavenly thunder hit, the formation broke, the heavenly thunder struck the electromagnetic shielding metal round cage, and part of the power was diverted into the ground by the lightning rods.

Thanks to Li Shiming’s improvements, the electromagnetic shielding metal round cage wasn’t destroyed by the second strike of heavenly thunder.

During these years of researching the ’Heavenly Human Technique’ inheritance’s puppet mechanism techniques, he applied techniques for strengthening materials to the metal of the electromagnetic shielding metal round cage.

The third strike of heavenly thunder descended, and this time, it seemed like the thunder had found a way to destroy the electromagnetic shielding metal round cage, melting it instantly.

”Looks like the heavenly thunder has some wisdom; such a method can only deceive the heavenly thunder once!” thought Li Shiming when he saw this.

This method of opposing heavenly thunder, never seen before in the cultivation world, using worldly technological means, would eventually be recognized by the heaven and earth rules, which would develop countermeasures against it.

The remaining power of the heavenly thunder targeted the heavenly ghost, with its spells activated and the Heavenly Strike Thunder Hammer also emitting golden runes, enveloping the heavenly ghost.

The heavenly thunder danced a few inches from the heavenly ghost’s body but ultimately exhausted its power and disappeared.

The aura of the heavenly ghost kept rising, reflecting the effects of the heavenly rewards more directly, as the only energy the heavenly ghost could enhance was mental energy.

Li Shiming felt relieved. In the Ten Thousand Beast Sect’s Nascent Soul level Book Collection Pavilion, he had read about how other cultivators assisted third-grade ghosts in advancing to the fourth grade, a method only achievable by devil cultivators.

To advance a third-grade ghost to the fourth grade, they would seek a powerfully skilled Great Elder, forcibly injecting the third-grade ghost into their body, starting the advancement.

In the entire advancement process, the Great Elder resisted the heavenly tribulation, while the third-grade ghost remained inside the Great Elder’s body.

Unless the Great Elder was killed by the heavenly thunder, the third-grade ghost wouldn’t have to worry about being harmed by it.

The choice of a powerful Great Elder was to improve the chances of withstanding the heavenly thunder.

Li Shiming opted for various methods, as he couldn’t find a suitable Great Elder. He couldn’t have the heavenly ghost control the Body Refining Great Elder Living Dead to resist the heavenly thunder either.

The Body Refining Great Elder Living Dead was vastly different from a true Great Elder. While the body might be of the Body Refining Great Elder, it lacked matching secret techniques and potent mystical artifacts, as well as the benefit of years of battle experience.
