Chapter 947: Chapter 520: Chick

The Illusion Spirit Jiao was obviously overstuffed, and from the look of it, it couldn’t revert to its smaller form anytime soon.

Given its size of fifteen meters, Li Shiming’s laboratory space couldn’t hold it.

Moreover, the Illusion Spirit Jiao was currently absorbing the energy of the dragon-type spiritual pet, unable to move for the time being, which forced Li Shiming to stay with it.

Compared to signing a contract with a phoenix-type spiritual pet, enhancing the Illusion Spirit Jiao was more crucial; Li Shiming didn’t want to affect the process of its bloodline improvement.

He decided that if the Illusion Spirit Jiao couldn’t move for the next four days, he would wait here until being transported out by the Ten Thousand Beasts Cave Heaven.

He sat beside the Illusion Spirit Jiao, whose body kept writhing, and its dragon clan bloodline aura was continuously strengthening.

Unlike the previous enhancement, this time the Illusion Spirit Jiao felt little pain.

After one day, then two days, the bloodline enhancement reached an extreme, ceasing to change any further.

Li Shiming wasn’t sure what level the Illusion Spirit Jiao’s dragon clan bloodline had reached; he planned to find a phoenix-type spirit beast to contract during the last two days after it awakened, to fulfill his obligation to the phoenix lineage.

However, something unexpected happened; the Illusion Spirit Jiao did not awaken, its aura continuing to surge, quickly surpassing the peak of the third grade.

In two days, the Illusion Spirit Jiao had fully digested the dragon-type spiritual pet, which was a fourth-grade spiritual pet.

Despite Chen Zhou’s dragon-type spiritual pet being at the early fourth grade, Chen Zhou had invested a substantial amount of resources into it, aimed at accumulating breakthrough energy.

And when the Illusion Spirit Jiao devoured the dragon-type spiritual pet, it not only consumed the dragon clan bloodline but also absorbed all of the pet’s energy.

The dragon-type spiritual pet’s bloodline was only slightly weaker than that of the Illusion Spirit Jiao; both belonged to the Flood Dragon level, and the energy within the pet could almost be absorbed directly by the Illusion Spirit Jiao’s innate devouring ability.

The dragon-type spiritual pet’s fourth-grade demon pill, along with the vast accumulated resource energy in its body, became nourishment for the Illusion Spirit Jiao.

On the third day, the Illusion Spirit Jiao suddenly opened its eyes and let out a dragon roar towards the sky.

With the roar, it flew upwards as its skin and scales began to peel off, its aura elevating again.

”Is it ascending to the fourth grade?” Li Shiming, observing the Illusion Spirit Jiao’s transformation, couldn’t help but murmur with his mouth agape.

The aura of the Illusion Spirit Jiao had already reached the fourth grade; in his perception, its demon pill was undergoing sublimation.

The demon pill of a fourth-grade spirit beast wouldn’t transform into a Nascent Soul, but its effect was quite similar; only the form differs, and it can similarly trigger a Dharma Manifestation.

Unlike human cultivators who rely on cultivation techniques for the advancement from Golden Core to Nascent Soul, spirit beasts accomplish the leap from the third to fourth grade through their innate instincts recorded within their bloodline memory.

The smooth ascension of the Illusion Spirit Jiao left Li Shiming in disbelief; he watched it ascend to the fourth grade and waited for the heavenly tribulation to arrive, which never did.

”Could it be that ascending to the fourth grade in the Ten Thousand Beasts Cave Heaven doesn’t trigger a heavenly tribulation?” he speculated, with no cultivator having informed him of this.

Considering the incomplete Heaven and Earth Rules in the Ten Thousand Beasts Cave Heaven, a lack of heavenly tribulation for the grade transition wasn’t surprising.

This could explain why there are so many fourth-grade spirit beasts in the Ten Thousand Beasts Cave Heaven; without heavenly tribulation and ample energy supply, any spirit beast with sufficient talent could ascend to the fourth grade step by step.

Outside, large numbers of spirit beasts striving to ascend even to the third grade must endure heavenly tribulation, with only a few survivors managing to ascend.

Li Shiming was most intrigued by the Illusion Spirit Jiao shedding its skin mid-air, noticing that its four claws were no longer four, but five.

Chen Zhou’s long-held dream had unexpectedly realized within the Illusion Spirit Jiao.

By absorbing the dragon clan bloodline of Chen Zhou’s dragon-type spiritual pet, the Illusion Spirit Jiao’s dragon bloodline had been completed, finally reaching the level of a five-clawed dragon.

A five-clawed dragon is the true dragon clan, recognized as such, whereas those with lesser dragon bloodlines can only be considered dragon beasts.

The Illusion Spirit Jiao recklessly released its aura; its rapid ascension to fourth grade was largely due to the energy absorbed within its body.

Without the absorbed energy, even if it ascended to the fourth grade some time later, it couldn’t have possibly ascended to a fourth grade five-clawed dragon.

It revelled in its power and nobility, yearning to express its emotions.

A faint chirp sounded, distinctly audible even amid the Illusion Spirit Jiao’s dragon roar.

This chirp carried slight discontent, along with a hint of provocation against the Illusion Spirit Jiao.

Li Shiming was startled; his ’Telepathy’ and ’Divine Sight’ were constantly active, with his Divine Sense persistently monitoring the surroundings.

This was all to prevent any spirit beast from impacting the Illusion Spirit Jiao; neither its devouring process nor its ascension could be interrupted.

The Illusion Spirit Jiao’s current ascension was in its final stage, and despite its formidable aura, this was merely external strength.

Having just ascended to a four-grade five-clawed dragon, it hadn’t accumulated much internal energy; encountering another four-grade spirit beast, it could only rely on claws and bites.

Even the Illusion Spirit Jiao’s potent venom was unable to be produced due to energy insufficiency.
