Chapter 689: Chapter 391 Leaving

Li Shiming had been living in the old residence in Xia Country for nearly a year, and recently, Li WenYuan’s health had been deteriorating more and more.

Although he had used some methods, even tapping into the life force within the Fourth Grade Pearl, the constraints of the Heaven and Earth Rules only let him watch as Li WenYuan gradually weakened.

He spent most of his time by his father’s side, knowing that his father didn’t have much time left.

But his father’s smile grew ever more frequent; having served as an official all his life, he had long come to terms with life and death, proud that his adopted son had become an Immortal, and his second son had become the Emperor.

With no regrets in life, and his sons by his side, every day was happy for him.

Under the tree, Li WenYuan sat in his usual chair, sunlight filtering through the leaves and falling on his face.

Li Shiming sat beside him, sadness in his eyes, yet he did not cry.

Though there was a smile on Li WenYuan’s face, life had forever departed from him.

Li Shiming, through the analysis of his life-bonded magic weapon, IBMz15, had already predicted the exact time of this day; he and his father had quietly talked under the tree, and after his father made his final move in their game, he ceased all movement.

Next to Li WenYuan was a baby cradle containing the third generation of the Li Family.

This was Li Shijie’s first child, whom Shijie had brought to the ancestral home, because his constant duties kept him from accompanying his father and to ensure the continuation of the lineage, he had left this child behind.

As the Emperor, he was well aware of the dangers of power and, even with the support of the State Preceptor, he felt the backlash from power factions affected by his major orders.

He knew all too well how safe the ancestral home was; it was the foundation of the Li Family.

Li Shiming was very pleased with Li Shijie, who by bringing his first child over, let Li WenYuan die with no regrets.

“Mo Yan, the arrangements for the old master’s funeral will be left to you, I have to leave now!” he instructed Mo Yan, who was silently shedding tears.

“Young Master, are you leaving now?” After almost a year, Mo Yan had nearly forgotten that her young master was an Immortal.

“The mortal realm is no place to linger, take good care of Si Qin!” Li Shiming disliked farewells and spoke solemnly.

After saying this, he glanced towards Si Qin, then his figure soared into the sky.

At the doorway to the left room, Si Qin watched his figure ascend, her face showing reluctance.

She knew that the young master was gone again, and this time, there was no telling when he would return.

Li Shiming took each step, each covering a great distance, his improved realm now allowing him to perform “A Step Between” for short durations.

Leaving the ancestral home, he felt as if a sword had severed his ties with the mundane world, and henceforth in this mortal realm, only the ancestral home remained his concern.

Feeling lighter, an inexplicable sensation made the consumption of “A Step Between” slightly less.

While it did not affect the advancement of his cultivation, this change in mindset brought him numerous benefits.

“A Step Between” consumes a great deal of Spiritual Power Pattern, and he could probably sustain it for about half a two hours.

The most fearsome aspect of “A Step Between” is not its speed but its ability to ignore barriers, and it can traverse most Formations that do not limit space in a single step.

To some extent, the ability of “A Step Between” to break through Formations exceeded that of the coordination between Li Shiming and his life-bonded magic weapon, IBMz15.

For those Formations that do not limit spatial arrangements, “A Step Between” doesn’t even need analysis. It simply connects the spaces forcibly and crosses.

Li Shiming used “A Step Between” for practice, and practicing Divine Foot Skill was crucial, as his life-bonded magic weapon, IBMz15, needed extensive data to analyze “A Step Between” and provide the optimal method of application.

While stepping through the air, he took out the Identity Jade Disc of Mingxin Sect and sent out a message, informing Mingxin Sect he would leave Sky Sea Island.

After sending the message, he did not wait for a response but tucked the Identity Jade Disc back into his Space Ring.

This time he did not conceal his form, and feeling the considerable consumption of his Spiritual Power Pattern, he switched to his Meteor Ink Boat.

The Meteor Ink Boat traveled across the sky above Sky Sea Island; such a treasure-grade Flying Boat was extremely rare over Sky Sea Island.

Now he had one more treasure-grade Flying Boat, but since he was on Sky Sea Island and had become the Honorary Great Elder of Mingxin Sect, it wouldn’t be proper to use Elder Zang’s treasure-grade Flying Boat.

His movement was seen by many Cultivators, and those who recognized him speculated where he might be going.

Li Shiming’s identity was no longer a secret on Sky Sea Island, the entire island knew that this Mid-stage Cultivator born on Sky Sea Island was a Alchemy Master from Beishu Continent and also the Honorary Great Elder of Mingxin Sect.

Yu Gu looked at the intelligence in his hand, the seven sects had experienced myriad years on Sky Sea Island, and although pressured by Mingxin Sect to such an extent, they still retained some intelligence systems.

This was a piece of intelligence regarding Li Shiming’s whereabouts; seeing that Li Shiming had set out from Xia Country, leaving nothing hidden along the way, his movements were reported by passing Cultivators and collected by the intelligence system.

“He really left, that traitor!” Yu Gu’s eyes flashed sharply as he muttered to himself.

He had asked Li Shiming to join him in opposing Mingxin Sect but was refused, only to then learn that Li Shiming had become the Honorary Great Elder of Mingxin Sect.
