Martial Peak

Chapter 6121, Escape (5)

Unable to reject the food, Yang Ji quickly ate. However, he failed to realise that the food itself naturally contained condensed World Energy.

This was to be expected. After all, for a meal in the Upper Realm, what kind of material did not contain a trace of World Energy? In fact, it was rarer to find a natural material that rejected World Energy. Even if this was only the Outer Heaven, like the inert rocks on the ground, even blades of grass were tougher than that of regular trees in the Lower Realm.

Since Yang Ji was not trying to cultivate, this blast of World Energy into his body was no different to a bomb being set off, forcing its way into his Dantian.

Yang Ji had been actively blocking his meridians from absorbing the World Energy from the air, so this meal had completely bypassed it.

“Hmm?” Wu Lun, seeing Yang Ji’s expression change, wondered for a moment before quickly asking, “Haven’t you taken Pills before? Just direct that energy away.”

“You say it like it’s supposed to be a piece of cake. I didn’t expect a simple meal would have so much energy…” Yang Ji inexplicably frowned, which caused Xing Ting to react.

“Is something wrong?” Xing Ting, unable to escape from the trap of paranoia, thought that someone might have laced the food with poison. In that case, not only was their ‘Young Mistress’ poisoned, their current position was exposed. Thus, Xing Ting immediately stood up and rushed towards Yang Ji.

However, Yang Ji quickly raised his hand up, and said, “Sorry. It’s just that this meal is something that I can’t stomach… Maybe because I haven’t eaten something proper for so long…”

Xing Ting frowned, finding this excuse absurd. After all, Yang Ji should be given Diet Pills to sustain himself while he was in the Pool of Revitalisation. Likewise, why would a Mortal be so picky about food when they most likely only get scraps to sustain themselves on.

Unable to hold back her unease, Xing Ting moved to report this to Hong Jun.

Meanwhile, Yang Ji could no longer be bothered about the two. He was desperately fighting back the energy raging out from within his stomach. Since he closed his meridians, World Energy could not get in, likewise it could not get out. The only exit was through his mouth…

“I know what you are thinking, that it’ll be easier to just puke everything out. You’re right about that, but you need to get used to eating meals and drinking if you are posing as a Mortal. Besides, it’s such a waste for the food you eat to get thrown away like this.” Wu Lun quickly added, trying to convince Yang Ji to hold on.

“Easy for you to say.” Yang Ji quipped back and Wu Lun advised. “You know, this bit of food can be treated as your trump card, right?”

“What are you talking about? Are you gonna say I’m supposed to beat people up with a chicken leg?”

“Of course not.” Wu Lun was rolling his eyes, though no one could see it. “I’m saying that the energy that is within your food can be condensed within your stomach rather than let it leak into your Dantian. You know Monster Beads, right? Think of it like that, just that it is stored within your stomach. Also, this energy is not affiliated to you in any way, it is just stored within your stomach. Surely with your bodily control, you can keep it in your stomach without breaking it down, right?”

“If I could do that, the food within me would not even have been digested in the first place!” Yang Ji snapped back but he still concentrated to do as Wu Lun had advised.

Yang Ji thought through on any technique that could help him accomplish this goal, and the only thing he got was actually in the Dao of Alchemy. [Mother Ning Chang already treated her body as the furnace and the world as ingredients. I might not have her unique Physique but I’m not trying to condense an actual Pill here. I’m just trying to condense formless energy into a bead…]

[Though I’m not well versed in the Dao of Alchemy, Mother Ning Chang had taught me a thing or two before. She said that for Pills, the first step is extraction, then assimilation and finally condensation. For the energy leaking from the meal, I need to extract it. If my body can’t do it, and I lack the Qi to do it, then I’ll just use my Divine Sense. Father uses his Divine Sense to refine Pills. Surely I can use it for this too.]

Yang Ji’s Divine Sense aggressively plunged into his stomach and contained all the food within it. And to his astonishment…

[This… this is actually easier that I thought.] With his Divine Sense, he easily blocked off all excess energy leaking out. In fact, it was not difficult for him to completely seal off the food within his stomach.

Wu Lun, able to sense the Divine Sense within Yang Ji moving as predicted, seemingly shook his head. “Haiz. Finally, you are thinking for once. I was genuinely wondering why you are blocking it off using bodily control like with your meridians when you could have just used your Divine Sense. But don’t refine it now. Just keep the food sealed within your stomach. You can always refine it when you need to ‘sleep’.”

“You could have just told me to do this from the start. Then, I would not have startled them like this.” Yang Ji said, a little aggrieved.

“But you still did it with a little push from me, aren’t I great? Besides, a little panic would do you good. That way, they would move faster and think less.” Wu Lun smirked and as he expected, Hong Jun was back with Xing Ting beside him. Wu Lun soon gave Yang Ji his next set of instructions…

At this point, Yang Ji’s facial expression had completely returned to normal so Hong Jun turned to look at Xing Ting then turned back to look at Yang Ji. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing. Just that I can’t really stomach this right now. I know you wish to stock up on goods by checking on the stores that I have just proposed. Let’s go there instead of staying here. It would be safer for all of us if we move together, no?” Yang Ji said, following Wu Lun’s instructions.

Hong Jun eyed Yang Ji for a moment and looked back at the not fully eaten plate. He felt disgruntled, as though this boy was not fully appreciating the meal he bought, but as a man who prioritised the bigger picture, he swallowed it down and turned around. “Let’s go.”

The meal had already been paid for before Hong Jun left the first time, so they directly left the restaurant.

Their first stop was the store two streets away. Hong Jun smoothly stood behind Yang Ji and let him lead the way, maybe both as a test, and as someone ready to react in case something were to happen.

As for Yang Ji, he did indeed look around with curiosity, something which Wu Lun did not warn him off about. Nevertheless, he led the way smoothly since he already knew the store’s location from his Divine Sense and Wu Lun’s guidance.

Eventually, the group stumbled upon the second store that Wu Lun had recommended, and this store was a store selling Artifacts.

Yang Ji turned towards Hong Jun and said, “Though the time was short, I believe you’ve purchased a few useful Pills in the first store. This second store will contain Artifacts that are both cheap and useful to us.”

Hong Jun stayed silent and he sent Xing Ting a look. The woman followed up by asking, “In that case, what Pills would you have recommended we take?”

“Hmmm…” Yang Ji, seeming to think for a moment, responded, “I can’t tell for your case, since I haven’t really seen you take action but I’ve seen Sir fight before, using both physical strength supplemented by the use of Runes. In the case of Pills, while healing Pills are always needed, for Sir, the most important Pills would be those that can help you remain on the offense against your opponents. I believe with Runes and your robust constitution, you don’t actually need healing Pills since you can heal yourself relatively quickly. Rather, you need Pills that supplement your energy. From that store, I would have recommended you buy the Golden Flow Pill.”

Yang Ji did not even turn around to respond. Wu Lun had specifically instructed him to continue walking into the second store without batting an eye to the two behind him.

Meanwhile, as what Yang Ji had said, Hong Jun took out a Pill from his Space Ring, and it was indeed a Golden Flow Pill that he had bought from that store…

He showed it to Xing Ting, and even she had her eyes narrowed slightly.
