Struggling to Survive with Regression Power in the Primordial Saint Sect

Chapter 590: Trap?

In that instant, a sense of foreboding struck Lu Yang’s heart.

Without any hesitation, he immediately connected with the Tongtian Hall, intending to return to the Saint Sect—not out of fear, of course, but to invite True Lord Feixue to accompany him.

However, his expression quickly darkened.

‘Connection… severed!’

Lu Yang raised his head, brows deeply furrowed. Although his connection with the Saint Sect had been cut off, the radiance from the 【Heavenly Flame Above】 still shone upon him.

Thanks to this, his power had not diminished in the slightest.

‘This place should be far from the Ruined Place by now. In theory, the 【Heavenly Flame Above】 shouldn’t reach here, but the Ruined Place’s location is problematic.’

Lu Yang realized something—

The Ruined Place was located in an extraordinarily special position, seemingly at the center of the entire Outer Heavens Sea of Light. From there, it connected to all worlds. Thus, even if a Fruit Position left its native realm, it could still spread its power to any corner of the Sea of Light beyond the heavens, ensuring that a True Lord would not lose strength even when outside their world.

‘...Immortal Pivot.’

At that moment, Lu Yang recalled what he had once heard—the figure within the Observation Mirror had called the Ruined Place “Immortal Pivot.” A fitting name indeed.

But Lu Yang didn’t have time to ponder long.

Because in the next second, a giant hand forged entirely from the 【Yin-Yang Genesis Light of Life and Death】 suddenly stretched forth from the Sea of Light beyond the heavens, clawing down at Lu Yang with reckless force.

“Boom.”

The palm struck down, thunder roaring from its center. The thunderous sound shook the soul. There was no flamboyant display, no illusionary manifestations—only the most primal force!

With this palm crashing down, Lu Yang would either have to flee, or else prematurely reveal his own manifestation to break it through strategy. Otherwise, he’d be forced to meet it head-on with pure magic power—raw numbers clashing directly. Either way, he’d expose some of his secrets. With the enemy hidden and himself exposed, he would fall into a passive position.

Yet Lu Yang stood tall and unyielding, completely fearless:

“Good timing!”

As his words fell, he formed a hand seal with one hand, two fingers pointing before his chest. A golden thread of light ignited at his fingertips, then suddenly burst forth with boundless brilliance.

It was a sword light!

Outside the heavens, Lu Yang found himself unrestrained. With a single sword-point thrust out, the sword light blazed forth, indestructible—tearing the giant hand apart in the blink of an eye!

Where the sword light passed, it radiated with heavenly brilliance, illuminating the sea of parting. In that moment, it even suppressed the inherent glow of the 【Yin-Yang Genesis Light of Life and Death】. Heaven and earth dimmed, then reignited—darkness and brightness flickering in a single instant—as the giant hand of mysterious light exploded apart.

“Bang!”

The shattered hand dispersed into a rain of radiant light, returning to the Sea of Light beyond. The residual sword qi pierced the void, blasting out two figures from within the Sea of Light.

“Swish! Swish!”

At the same time, the mighty power of the 【Heavenly Flame Above】 descended. A【Heavenly Inscription Seal】 appeared between Lu Yang’s brows, and blazing firelight ten thousand zhang high enveloped him, rendering him even more divine.

“...As expected of a True Lord of the Immortal Pivot.”

Beyond the heavens, outside the 【Myriad Martial Realm】, one of the figures blasted out by Lu Yang spoke in admiration:

“Let alone the fact that he holds a Supreme Fruit Position.”

Meanwhile, the other man behind him also spoke. As the aura of both men flared simultaneously, Lu Yang narrowed his eyes slightly.

Their status was not beneath that of a True Lord, yet their manifestations were entirely unfamiliar.

In a flash of realization, Lu Yang fully grasped the situation he was caught in: a trap! From Han Qingyun all the way to the Observation Mirror—it had all been a trap!

‘First, lure Han Qingyun into joining the Path of Righteous Qi through the Observation Mirror. Then let me discover the mirror and the strange manifestation within it. To verify it, I would inevitably go to the Saint Sect. Upon learning the secret of the millennial tribulation, I would surely seek to improve my strength…’

Which led him straight into this trap—

The Myriad Martial Realm!

As an Outer Dao Fruit Position, the Myriad Martial Realm was undoubtedly well-suited to the Heavenly Flame Above. Naturally, the Pure Land, also involved with this aspect, could deduce this as well.

“...The Pure Land actually colluded with cultivators from beyond the heavens.”

“【Celestial Mansion】?”

Lu Yang’s gaze fell toward the Myriad Martial Realm—

Where a Buddha-light slowly rose, and from it, two more figures stepped forth.

One bore a compassionate expression, solemn and dignified in his kasaya. It shimmered with sun and moon, adorned with stars. The boundless Fruit Position power he wielded shared the same root as Lu Yang’s 【Heaven】—it was the unique aura of the Myriad Martial Realm. His entire being was wrapped in an intent of upholding the karmic fate of all beings.

Lu Yang traced the karmic threads—

And the figure’s identity instantly surfaced in his mind.

‘In the Myriad Martial Realm, all beings possess natal stars, revealing each individual’s inborn karmic fate. Thus was born an Outer Dao Fruit Position known as 【Imperial Mandate】.’

And the one who had attained this Fruit Position was a monastic cultivator named: 【Essence-Attaining Bodhisattva】!

‘Once a supreme figure in the Great Momentum, the Arhat most likely to attain Bodhisattvahood in the Pure Land—he mysteriously disappeared. To think he secretly took this path instead…’

The other Bodhisattva beside him was less familiar.

Unlike the 【Essence-Attaining Bodhisattva】, this one had a radiant glow above his head, stirring the Void and revealing a Fruit Position as well:

【Pine Cypress Wood】!

‘That’s the third Bodhisattva of the Pure Land—the one who, along with the 【Bodhisattva of Vase and Water Moon】, was forced into reclusion by my use of the【Heavenly Inscription Seal】!’

【Vajra-Wielding Victorious Bodhisattva】!

At this thought, Lu Yang’s expression grew even more grave—not because of the two Bodhisattvas. One was an Outer Dao practitioner, the other only early-stage, not a major threat.

The real problem lay with the two cultivators from beyond the heavens.

Lu Yang swept his gaze across them, silently evaluating their combat power:

‘One of them has an aura comparable to the 【Essence-Holding Treasure Lotus Bodhisattva】—a mid-stage Golden Core cultivator, a second-rank True Lord. The other had clashed briefly with me in the Observation Mirror. Weaker than me, likely a third-rank True Lord.’

Adding the two Bodhisattvas—

Overall, this wasn’t a deathtrap. The true threat was the second-rank True Lord from the 【Celestial Mansion】. The rest were of no great concern.

“Boom!”

In the next moment, the 【Vajra-Wielding Victorious Bodhisattva】 suddenly raised his hand. Using the Myriad Martial Realm as the center, Buddha-light bloomed across the surrounding Outer Sea of Light.

‘Grade Three… no, Grade Two formation!’

Lu Yang’s eyes narrowed. Formation lines condensed across the Sea of Light. Buddha-light gleamed, manifesting stupas, relic towers, temples, and Zen forests.

He recognized the scene.

‘The Earthly Buddha Nation!?’

Indeed, the formation unfolding was strikingly similar to the Earthly Buddha Nation he had seen in Jiangxi during his past life—

Only now it lacked the anchor of 【City Head Soil】.

With the formation’s blessing, the previously weakest 【Essence-Attaining Bodhisattva】 saw his aura surge, breaking through the fifth-rank True Lord threshold and reaching fourth-rank. Meanwhile, the【Vajra-Wielding Victorious Bodhisattva】’s aura continued to climb, faintly approaching the peak of third-rank True Lords.

“.What a grand setup.”

Lu Yang’s expression remained indifferent as he shook his head:

“I’ve already tried to lower my expectations for monastic cultivators, but you always manage to exceed them.”

“Colluding with cultivators beyond the heavens—future enemies of the millennial tribulation, no less.”

“Are you trying to cut yourselves off from the Five Domains of the world?”

“Amitabha.”

The【Vajra-Wielding Victorious Bodhisattva】chanted a Buddha-name in response, but did not answer. Instead, he turned toward the two celestial cultivators beside him.

“Immortal Lord Lesser Yin, Immortal Lord Step-Flame, we only seek his soul and true spirit. All else shall be yours.”

“Hahaha, splendid!”

At these words, the two celestial cultivators burst into laughter.

The one addressed as Immortal Lord Lesser Yin sneered coldly:

“I’ve come this time for Step-Flame. Since this man holds the Fruit Position of 【Heavenly Flame Above】, then by slaying him and seizing his manifestation, Step-Flame should be able to attain the 【Master of the Sun】 title upon return—becoming a Solar Immortal Lord.”

“Many thanks for the honor, my lord!”

Upon hearing this, the celestial cultivator addressed as Immortal Lord Step-Flame was overjoyed. He cupped his hands in thanks, then glared hungrily at Lu Yang.

Between just a few words, they had already decided Lu Yang’s fate.

Yet Lu Yang simply smiled faintly.

Even if deceived, even deep within a grand formation, he remained calm. His lips parted, voice echoing across the cosmos:

“Tricks and trash like you think you can kill me?”
