The clear chime of swords transformed into an earth-shattering roar.

Everything, ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍all of it, converged upon the man who had suddenly appeared in Jiangdong.

He ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍was neither handsome nor imposing. Dressed in black robes, bearded and unkempt, he looked like a down-and-out vagabond one could easily spot in the bustling mortal world.

Yet ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍regardless of who looked upon him, none would care for his appearance or demeanor. Their gaze would fix solely upon the sword in his hand. In stark contrast to the man’s ordinary bearing, the sword blazed with radiant brilliance. Just staring at its blade would evoke illusions of being cut apart.

On ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍the other side, Lü Yang’s eyes widened.

After all, he could not be more familiar with that sword.

‘Real Person of Demon-Cleansing!’

At this time, he should have been secluded in Jiangnan, solely focused on delaying the progress of Kongzheng’s Sword Dao, ignoring the world completely—Real Person of Demon-Cleansing, Ye Guangji.

‘Why would Master come here?’

Just as that thought formed, Lü Yang slapped his forehead, silently berating himself for spending too much time dealing with villains—his thinking hadn’t shifted yet.

Why would Real Person of Demon-Cleansing appear?

The answer could not be simpler: because Guangming the Buddha Child entered Jiangdong, extinguishing all lives and beasts along his path. Under such circumstances, how could Real Person of Demon-Cleansing not come?

He must come!

Not only had he come, but he arrived in a blaze of fury. Without giving Guangming the Buddha Child a chance to speak, he raised the “No-Kill Sword” and slashed down ferociously!

Guangming the Buddha Child’s expression instantly darkened upon seeing this, laughing furiously out of anger:

“Little monk didn’t come to trouble you, yet you come to ruin my endeavor. Truly ungrateful! You must know—no matter how powerful a Foundation Establishment cultivator is, he is still just Foundation Establishment!”

As his words fell, Guangming the Buddha Child brought his hands together in a solemn gesture. His form merged entirely with the broken Buddha statue behind him. Their connection became instantly intimate. The sword light of Real Person of Demon-Cleansing fell upon him, yet was devoured entirely by the broken statue, stirring not even the slightest ripple.

“Amitabha.”

Seeing this, Guangming the Buddha Child chuckled lightly: “Very well. Whether one or two, they shall all be received today. This little monk shall ferry both of you into the Pure Land.”

“Zheng!”

Before his words even faded, the sword light of Real Person of Demon-Cleansing once again fell upon him—but this time, it was fundamentally different.

Among the myriad living beings, 【No-Kill】 comes first.

For heretics and evildoers, 【All Shall Be Slain】 without mercy!

“Boom!”

The next second, Guangming the Buddha Child’s smile froze on his face. He turned back in shock, only to find the connection between himself and the broken statue had been severed out of thin air!

And at that very instant—

A fair white hand suddenly reached out from nowhere, silently piercing through the protective Buddha Light and pressing against the center of Guangming the Buddha Child’s back.

——Chong Guang!

Ever since his divine ability failed to activate, Chong Guang had concealed his presence, uttered not a word, making no movement—silently waiting for this one opening to strike!

In a flash, blazing light erupted—

【Jade Platform Shining with Brilliant Radiance!】

This blazing light was not vast, flickering like a candle flame. It was the corresponding True Method of 【Overturning Lamp Fire】—fire born of light, which instantly ignited Guangming the Buddha Child!

This was the so-called 【Golden Chalice Flame】.

It seemed weak, but in truth, it was like bone-devouring cancer, treating a cultivator’s divine abilities and mana like wax—once ignited, the fire could not be extinguished nor easily quelled.

Such a sight shocked even Lü Yang, for it was the first time he witnessed Chong Guang engage in battle. His methods were indeed ruthless. What shocked him more was how Chong Guang’s fighting style was utterly unlike his dignified public persona—utterly venomous and sinister!

If he struck not, then fine—but once he struck, it must kill!

At that moment, Guangming the Buddha Child was wholly engulfed in flames. His kasaya was instantly reduced to ashes, his spiritual light dispersed, revealing his sturdy upper body.

Looking at him from afar, his skin resembled copper cast and gold molded.

And yet, such a flawless golden body was now covered in dense cracks, as if it had turned from solid iron into fragile porcelain.

Through the cracks, one could even glimpse his internal organs—now also being scorched by the blaze. His heart and lungs had become fuel for the fire, transforming him into a human-shaped candlestick. The flames would not stop until he was reduced to ash!

Guangming the Buddha Child bit his lip forcefully.

Clearly, he was enduring excruciating pain. Yet he disregarded life and death, staring fixedly in Lü Yang’s direction.

His sole purpose in this journey was to convert Lü Yang.

For that, he would sacrifice anything.

After all, he was merely one among countless Buddhist cultivators. There was no shortage of others like him. The World-Honored One could simply enlighten another Buddha Child.

Thus, his life or death was irrelevant.

What mattered was whether the Five Dharma Aspects bestowed by the World-Honored One could descend upon Lü Yang. As long as they did, then his mission would be considered a great success.

So, even at the brink of death, Guangming the Buddha Child did not try to suppress his wounds or retreat to protect himself. Instead, he poured all his divine abilities and power into the Five Dharma Aspects, letting them crash down upon Lü Yang like Mount Tai!

In the next moment, Buddha Light engulfed everything.

“You’ve rather underestimated me, haven’t you?”

As this voice suddenly echoed by his ears, Guangming the Buddha Child’s pupils contracted. The hope in his eyes dimmed in an instant, replaced by utter dejection.

‘Failed? How could I have failed?’

He couldn’t understand. Those were the Five Dharma Aspects—landing simultaneously upon one person, like Mount Tai crushing an egg. How could a mere Foundation Establishment cultivator endure such a formation?

But he no longer had time to ponder.

Lü Yang wasted not a single breath. As he spoke, the sword blade of Tribulation‑Overcoming Wave had already pierced Guangming the Buddha Child’s chest—like the final straw that broke the camel’s back. On the blade flowed the radiance of five divine abilities:

【Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique】, 【Merciless Severance】.

【No Law, No Thought】, 【Dust Severing the Self from Illusions】.

【Godblade of One Thought】.

Five divine abilities interwove into one 【Gilt-Edged Commanding Token】. Together with the inherent 【Might-Proclaiming】 brilliance of Tribulation‑Overcoming Wave, the sword’s power reached its pinnacle!

Like autumn wind sweeping away fallen leaves.

Gone in the blink of an eye.

When the brilliance faded, Guangming’s figure was gone. His entire golden body shattered, and his blood and organs were incinerated to ash in the firelight.

‘The Buddha Child has perished!’

Yet upon seeing this, Lü Yang did not relax in the slightest. On the other side, Real Person of Demon-Cleansing and Chong Guang also frowned, their auras burning ever more intensely.

Was it over?

‘No—this is only the beginning.’

Lü Yang held Tribulation‑Overcoming Wave in reverse grip, his gaze falling upon the broken Buddha statue standing in the wilderness: ‘This is the World-Honored One’s backup. The Buddha Child was merely a decoy.’

A decoy to lure out his false pretense of holding the Golden Position.

Yet to Lü Yang’s surprise, the Five Dharma Aspects—just moments ago narrowly dodged—reappeared, descending once again around the Buddha statue.

“Amitabha!”

All five Dharma Aspects spoke in unison: “Benefactor, you possess Buddha fate, far surpassing even the Buddha Child. Since you can take charge of the Dao Court, why not the Pure Land as well?”

“This very Buddha statue—was prepared for you.”

“【Laws of the Immortal Kingdom】 can attest to the truth of our words. With the World-Honored One above, this statue is the True Buddha revered in the hearts of billions of Buddhist cultivators in the Pure Land.”

“With this Buddha here, all hearts become one.”

“At this moment, the World-Honored One has voluntarily relinquished this Buddha, discarding it. Should you, Benefactor, repair this Buddha with your own strength, you may then replace the World-Honored One in presiding over the Pure Land.”

“All hearts united, all shall belong to the Benefactor.”

“By then, Benefactor need not expend the slightest effort—billions of Buddhist cultivators in Jiangxi will obey your commands. Attaining 【Heavenly Fire】 will be as easy as lifting a hand!”

Having said that, the five Dharma Aspects bowed their heads together, performing a full-body kowtow in grand reverence:

“Please, Benefactor, enter and preside over the Pure Land—deliver all from suffering and karma, attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, complete noble conduct, become a World-Understanding One, Supreme Being, Luminous All-Illuminating Tathāgata!”
