Struggling to Survive with Regression Power in the Primordial Saint Sect

Foundation Establishment perfected, Lü Yang once again stood atop the pinnacle of his ten lifetimes.

‘That said, I’m still lacking a bit.’

Only with Foundation Establishment perfected, the refinement of Golden Nature, ascension to a Blessed Land, could one seek Golden Fruition and construct a Cave Heaven. Among these, the most critical were Golden Nature and the Blessed Land.

‘I don’t need to worry about the Blessed Land. The 【Xuandu Blessed Land】 is compatible with my spirit. As long as I use divine powers to refine and integrate it into my Dao Foundation, it’ll be usable. In comparison, Golden Nature is even more troublesome. It must be slowly refined from the soul through divine abilities — it’s certainly not a task accomplished in a day.’

Of course, there was a shortcut.

That was to use a first-grade official position of the Dao Court for refinement. But after careful deliberation, Lü Yang still felt it was more reliable to refine the Golden Nature on his own.

‘Besides, this won’t delay matters on the 【Boundless Heaven】 side.’

Lü Yang shifted his thoughts, and his divine sense immediately sank into the Myriad Spirits Banner. There he saw Ancestor Tingyou seated cross-legged within the banner, four divine abilities already coiling and rotating around him.

“【Essence of All Flowers】, 【Sorrow-Flooding Sea】, 【Ferry Across the Lost Ford】, 【Song of Eternal Regret】!”

Lü Yang saw it clearly — these four divine abilities were precisely those corresponding to 【Boundless Heaven】. In the span of half a year, Ancestor Tingyou had successfully gathered them all.

At that thought, Lü Yang’s expression suddenly turned strange.

‘【Essence of All Flowers】… Ancestor really has some endurance.’

Don’t be fooled by how easily Lü Yang had acquired 【Essence of All Flowers】 back then — that was because he had cheats; it was purely talent that let him endure the Grand Formation of Heavenly Maidens.

However, his method of clearing it was unique and utterly impossible for normal people. The proper way was to find a flaw in the formation amidst the entanglement, then break it through manipulation. In comparison, Lü Yang’s method lacked any technique — it was all raw stats.

At this moment, Ancestor Tingyou opened his eyes and softly said:

“.The time has come.”

Over a month ago, he had already refined the four divine abilities of 【Boundless Heaven】. He had simply waited because Lü Yang had yet to break through.

Now that Lü Yang had broken through, everything was ready.

The next second, Lü Yang cupped his hands in salute: “I’ll trouble Ancestor.”

“No, I should be the one thanking you.”

Ancestor Tingyou shook his head. Indeed, once he attained 【Boundless Heaven】, he would become a True Lord enemy to the entire world, a source of endless calamity. But so what?

He would still be a True Lord.

This wretched place hadn’t produced a True Lord in many years. A single position of a True Lord was enough to drive countless Foundation Establishment cultivators mad. Who could not desire it?

Especially Ancestor Tingyou. He considered his talent not bad, but when facing a True Lord, what could he do? A sword from tens of thousands of miles away left him without the slightest resistance. He knew the gap between Golden Core and Foundation Establishment better than anyone. Thus, he cherished the opportunity all the more, and understood the value of a True Lord’s position.

The more he understood, the more grateful he felt toward Lü Yang.

“Ancestor must not relax. This endeavor is not without variables.” Lü Yang said in a deep voice, “If nothing goes wrong, Chong Guang… that old thief will also appear.”

“Chong Guang?”

Ancestor Tingyou was startled upon hearing this: “Didn’t you strike a deal with him? Well, you’re both Holy Sect True Persons — if it were me, I wouldn’t trust it either.”

Not keeping promises — that was a fundamental quality of a Holy Sect True Person.

Moreover, Lü Yang understood Chong Guang extremely well. He knew his philosophy: even if driven into a corner, he would never fully place his hopes in another.

‘He will definitely seek 【Boundless Heaven】!’

‘Not necessarily because he truly wants to attain it, but to leave himself a fallback — in case I break my promise and turn on him in the end.’

And such concern was, in truth, entirely justified.

After all, Lü Yang had also made a deal involving 【Overturning Lamp Fire】 with 【Ang Xiao】 before — selling the same item twice. He didn’t really care who got swindled.

Thinking of this, Lü Yang quickly reminded: “In any case, Ancestor, when you vie for 【Boundless Heaven】, that old thief Chong Guang is very likely to compete against you in secret.”

“Do not let your guard down.”

Though in terms of outcome, no matter who attained 【Boundless Heaven】, Lü Yang would profit regardless, he still had his private preferences. That old thief Chong Guang refused to enter the Myriad Spirits Banner, so he naturally wasn’t as close as Ancestor Tingyou. Such a good fruit-position — it was better left to his own people.

“Don’t worry, I understand.”

With Lü Yang’s reminder, Ancestor Tingyou nodded: “【Boundless Heaven】 is vital to your scheme. I’ll do my utmost. I won’t let it be taken.”

“Respectfully seeing Ancestor off.”

Under Lü Yang’s watchful gaze, Ancestor Tingyou smiled and nodded. Then, the four divine abilities hoisted his consciousness, crashing into 【Boundless Heaven】!

Layer upon layer of cloud seas, interwoven illusions.

Ancestor Tingyou’s consciousness strolled within, walking with leisure and interest as he took in the surroundings. In truth, he had never entered 【Boundless Heaven】 before.

However, as the Banner Spirit, as long as Lü Yang cooperated, he could share the banner master’s experiences. So he had indirectly entered 【Boundless Heaven】 before, and even seen the innate True Person Mu Changsheng, who remained as pure consciousness. Otherwise, in his past life, he would never have been able to replicate Mu Changsheng’s Method of Consciousness Separation from thin air.

Of course, indirect and direct were still different.

Seen indirectly, things were always a bit foggy. Seen directly, clarity came.

‘Strictly speaking, that kid Lü Yang… mm, he mainly works hard. That’s how he achieved what he has today. There are many things he didn’t actually understand.’

At that thought, Ancestor Tingyou couldn’t help but smile.

But soon, he reined in his wandering thoughts and stood still amidst the cloud sea. His gaze shifted — and from the other side of the clouds, another figure walked out.

The newcomer’s face was unremarkable, but a soaring sharpness between the brows marked his identity.

Seeing the person, Ancestor Tingyou sighed inwardly:

‘That kid really guessed it.’

Then, he cupped his hands and called out in a clear voice: “Greetings, Daoist Chong Guang.”

On the other side, Chong Guang furrowed his brows: “And who might Daoist be? To have reached this point, you should have some renown in the world.”

“Just a nameless pawn.”

Ancestor Tingyou waved it off and said, “But you, Daoist — since 【Overturning Lamp Fire】 is already within reach, why come here seeking another fruit-position?”

At these words, Chong Guang’s heart immediately grasped something: ‘Is this that senior capable of falsely bearing 【Overturning Lamp Fire】? No… no, someone under that senior? What a grand gesture — giving away a fruit-position just like that, even if it’s heretical, it’s still a True Lord position!’

Yet the more he thought, the more cautious Chong Guang became.

Such a grand gesture — and possibly a senior from their Holy Sect — would he really falsely bear 【Overturning Lamp Fire】 and help him forge the path to Golden Core?

Chong Guang was not convinced!

But then what? Compete with this Ancestor Tingyou for 【Boundless Heaven】? Wouldn’t that offend the mysterious senior backing him?

If he managed to seize it — fine.

But if he failed, then he’d lose both 【Boundless Heaven】 and 【Overturning Lamp Fire】. His Dao path would end here!

At this, Chong Guang, for once, fell into rare hesitation.

After all, a True Lord position was at stake — he couldn’t afford carelessness.

Yet just then, the cloud sea once again rippled. The next moment, an elderly man with white hair and aged features stepped out from the clouds.

It was none other than the innate True Person Mu Changsheng!

Yet at this moment, Mu Changsheng paid no mind to Chong Guang. Instead, he immediately focused on Ancestor Tingyou, eyes full of puzzlement.

The next moment, he spoke with a touch of uncertainty, cautiously saying:

“Banner Spirit?”
