I'm a Villain in My Own Game?
Arc 5 Chapter 8 : Break Out · Oct 19, 2026
Chapter List (202)
[Raul POV]
My entire body still ached despite having just been healed by a Priest.
He had only been ordered to close the wounds I had sustained so that I would not die from blood loss.
Just as I expected, when I returned to the Romanova Palace, Alisha detained me under suspicion of murdering a Boyar.
However, Alisha had still acted cautiously at the time by conducting a Mana comparison.
What she did not know was that Lilith’s ability to imitate someone was virtually perfect.
Because she was a Doppelganger, she could imitate more than just someone’s appearance.
She could replicate everything—their Mana and even the abilities of the form she copied.
A terrifying ability known as Perfect Copy.
No one was interrogating me at the moment.
It seemed that after I lost consciousness earlier, Alisha and the Boyars had left the room.
However, when I looked around, I noticed that there seemed to be fewer guards watching me than usual.
Ten Knights?
Where had half of the Knights assigned to watch me gone?
A few moments later, I found the answer to the question that had been troubling me.
I could faintly hear the sound of an explosion in the distance.
It seemed Duke Alvaro and Lilith had already begun executing whatever plan they had prepared for this country.
That explained why there were fewer Knights guarding me.
They had been deployed to help deal with the chaos in the capital.
My hands were tied behind my back with some kind of rope imbued with sealing magic.
Judging from the Rune formation inscribed on the rope, it had most likely been created by an Archbishop.
All right.
It seemed the security in the palace was weaker than usual.
I supposed it was time to get out and continue with my next plan.
I tried to stand and faced the guards.
Several of them turned toward me after realizing that I had awakened.
Let’s think...
There was no way I could defeat ten Knights simultaneously and finish them quickly.
If I was lucky, I could take down three Knights at once.
But with my current speed, one or two of them would inevitably escape and sound the alarm.
That meant that no matter how I executed this, my actions would eventually become known throughout the entire palace.
—BAAAMM!!!
I slammed my own head against the glass wall of the cell where I was being held.
This time, all ten guards shifted their attention toward me.
—BAAAMMM!!
I slammed my head against it again, even harder.
”Hey, what are you doing?!” one of the guards asked.
”Don’t tell me he’s trying to kill himself!? Hurry and stop him!”
Two guards approached and entered the glass cell where I was being held.
As they reached for my shoulders to stop me from hurting myself, I suddenly turned around and launched a Sweep Kick at both of their legs, sending them tumbling to the floor.
Activating Temper, I then kicked one of the guard’s necks with tremendous force, knocking him unconscious instantly as his body rolled across the floor.
”Bastard, what the—”
The other guard tried to stand, but my foot reached him first, knocking him unconscious as well.
”What the hell is wrong with him!? Hurry, get inside and teach him a lesson! One of us, go report this and ask the other guards for help!”
They weren’t that stupid, huh?
If I were the Protagonist, all of these guards would probably foolishly rush inside without reporting my attempted rebellion.
That would make my escape much easier.
One of them then left the room while the remaining seven approached the glass cell where I was being held.
As four guards were about to enter, I activated one of the Profound Codex abilities I possessed—Dismantle.
The glass wall in front of me shattered.
—Crack!
”...”
”...”
The three guards remaining outside stared in shock.
I immediately took advantage of the situation, leaping forward and launching a Flying Knee toward the face of one of the guards.
”Arrghhh! You broke my nose, bastard!”
The guard I had just attacked collapsed while clutching his bleeding nose.
But I didn’t stop there.

I twisted my body and launched a Spinning Kick toward another guard’s neck, knocking him unconscious.
”How did he break a glass wall reinforced with sealing magic?!”
The remaining guard drew his sword, while four others could be seen rushing toward us.
”We have orders to execute him if he rebels!” the guard in front of me shouted as he launched a Horizontal Slash.
I ducked beneath his attack, then activated Temper in my leg once again and kicked his knee with tremendous force.
His leg bent in a direction it was never supposed to.
”Arrrrghhh! My leg! My leeeeg!”
Three guards had fallen to me within only three seconds.
But this time, the remaining four guards were already standing directly before me, ready to attack.
They all activated Accel and Temper.
”Kill him!”
The four guards attacked simultaneously.
I deliberately left the sealing rope around my hands untouched.
I intended to use it to launch a surprise attack.
Activating Asphalt, I was able to evade all of their attacks because I was using a superior form of the same type of magic as their Accel.
—Baamm!!
I successfully landed a kick against one guard’s face.
Only three of them remained standing.
Without stopping, I dashed toward the three guards.
Two of them launched simultaneous Horizontal Slashes, but I performed a Sliding maneuver to evade their attacks and pass between them.
”Die!”
The remaining guard in front of me raised his sword and brought it down from above.
I jumped and lunged toward him.
—Crack!
I slammed my head into his nose, reinforcing the attack with Temper.
The sound of something cracking like a broken bone rang clearly in my ears.
”Damn! That hurts!”
The guard collapsed onto the floor, screaming in pain.
—Swoosshh!
I jumped over the sword slashes of the two remaining guards attacking me from behind.
I then performed a spinning aerial kick that struck one of them in the head, knocking him unconscious.
After that, I twisted my body and kicked the face of the final guard, sending him flying into the wall of the room.
After nearly twenty seconds of fighting, all nine guards lay helpless on the floor.
—TENG! TENG! TENG!
Suddenly, the loud ringing of bells echoed throughout the palace.
An alarm.
It was meant to warn every guard inside the palace that an enemy had infiltrated the premises.
”I’d better get out of the palace before the guards surround me!”
I left the detention room and climbed the stairs leading out of the palace’s underground level.
The area above appeared empty.
I activated Featherstep to silence my footsteps, making it harder for anyone to locate me.
When I reached an intersection, I heard several footsteps approaching and prepared to attack.
”Hurry! The prisoner is rebelling!”
”Ugh... The timing couldn’t be worse! The guards are being deployed to help defeat the Demon wreaking havoc throughout the city!”
Just as I expected.
Duke Alvaro and Lilith’s plan had indeed begun the moment I was detained here.
That meant the two of them had truly been targeting me from the very first day I set foot in the Tsardom of Slavia.
”...”
”...”
The five guards were shocked when I suddenly leaped toward them.
—Baaamm!!! Baammm!!
Two guards immediately collapsed.
My kicks to their heads knocked both of them unconscious.
”Damn it! So he really escaped!”
One of them thrust his sword toward me, but I swiftly performed a Spinning Kick, striking his wrist and knocking the sword from his hand.
”Arrgghhh!”
The man screamed as he saw that his wrist had been dislocated.
”Die, you rotten noble!”
Two other guards launched slashes toward me.
Activating Accel, I easily evaded them.
These five guards seemed weaker than the previous group.
”Arrrghhh!”
One of them screamed after I kicked his shin, causing his leg to bend forward unnaturally.
—Baaamm!!!
I then kicked the remaining guard in the solar plexus, sending him crashing onto the floor while writhing in pain.
After defeating all the guards in this area, I continued climbing another staircase.
Finally, I had reached the first floor of the Romanova Palace.
I immediately ran toward the palace’s exit.
However, when I reached a corridor connected to a garden, I saw a white-haired man dressed as a servant casually walking toward me.
He stopped and looked at me.
”You’re not with Alisha?” I muttered when I saw Leon drawing his sword.
”How insolent. You dare call her by her name without the title ’Princess,’” Leon replied upon hearing my words. ”Alisha ordered me to guard the palace, even though I asked to accompany her in the capital.”
I didn’t know how much Leon had grown since the last time I saw him fight in the Academy Tournament the previous year.
But someone who possessed Anti-Magic was not an opponent I could defeat easily.
”The order to execute you becomes valid the moment you rebel or attempt to escape,” Leon said as particles of light began gathering around both his legs, signaling that he had activated Accel.
”Therefore, I will kill you now so you can never interfere with Alisha again!”
—Slash!
Blood splattered through the air as the tip of Leon’s sword grazed my cheek.
Fortunately, I had managed to evade most of the attack.
It seemed my path to escape was about to become much more difficult.

[Duke Alvaro POV]
Screams could be heard everywhere.
The entire capital was in chaos because Devorus, whom we had previously relocated into the underground waterway, had emerged from beneath the ground and shocked everyone who had been enjoying the Festival.
Furthermore, several summoning magic circles had already activated, causing monsters and several low-level Demons to appear and begin wreaking havoc throughout the capital.
”Help! Mother! Help me!”
A child could be seen being bitten by a monster resembling a dog.
Several meters away from the child, a woman was crying while carrying her other child in her arms.
Her body trembled, and her expression revealed fear, despair, and anger.
—Grooarr!!
Another monster approached after noticing the woman carrying her child.
The woman turned around and began running, leaving behind the child who was being devoured by the monster.
”No! Mother! Don’t leave me! Aaargh! It hurts! Help me! Hic... Hic... Hic...”
The monster began tearing into the child’s abdomen.
He was still alive as the beasts devoured his organs.
He only died when the monster moved on to his heart.
”The Goddess blames us even though it is our natural instinct that makes our kind prey upon humans.”
I heard the woman’s voice beside me.
”Just like animals prey upon other animals, we Demons also prey upon humans to survive,” she continued.
I could not see her expression because she had turned her face to the side.
”But why are only we punished? Don’t humans do the same thing? Yet they are never punished or sanctioned by that damned Goddess!”
It was true.
Demons preyed upon humans because they believed that consuming human flesh could make them stronger and allow them to reproduce more quickly.
According to the information I had obtained, the world where the Demons currently lived was in terrible condition.
The quality of the creatures available for them to consume there was extremely poor, hindering the reproduction of their kind.
This could eventually lead the Demons toward extinction.
However, that was not my concern.
My agreement with the Demons was to obtain a certain type of magic.
By studying a Demigod, I would be able to obtain the answers to the questions I had regarding this magic.
That was why I could only cooperate with the Demons.
No other Demigod was willing to interfere with human affairs, except the Demon King himself.
”Princess, what about the other magic circles?” I asked her.
”The magic circles that have not yet been activated are still secure, and there is no sign of your son, Alvaro,” the Demon Princess replied.
I see.
Was I wrong?
Had I really been too paranoid about the person who had infiltrated Raul’s body?
—ROOAARRRR!!!
A tremendous roar suddenly echoed from the direction of the city square.
The buildings around the square were burning, and a fifteen-meter-tall Demon was rampaging through the area, unleashing enormous fire magic.
Not far from that Demon, a gray-haired woman was fighting against it.
Her magic appeared to be protecting the Knights and Mages fighting against the Demon from its deadly flames.
She was one of our targets...
”Alisha Romanova...”
Rumor had it that she possessed magical abilities comparable to those of an Archwizard.
From what I had observed, her ice magic was indeed faster and more powerful than that of her father—Tsar Feodor.
If she died, only her incompetent younger sister would remain to rule the country.
I was certain that by the time the Demon King’s forces descended upon this world, the Tsardom of Slavia would already be a weak and unstable nation under her rule.
”Your son still hasn’t appeared, Alvaro,” Princess Lilith said. ”Should we attack that woman now?”
There was no doubt about it.
In the future, Princess Alisha would certainly become a troublesome opponent if she were allowed to live.
With her incredible magical talent, it would only take a few years before she surpassed my abilities.
”We will wait a little longer, Princess,” I replied.
”You still want to wait for your son?” the Demon asked, sounding unconvinced.
I merely nodded in response.
Even so, I had to deal with that man.
He was an enigma—a completely unpredictable variable at this point.
For that reason, I had to make absolutely certain that he would not interfere with our plans.
