Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 101 - 91: Discovering a Native Village, Purchasing Grain

Here were eighteen militias in total, including one elite-level militia captain.

Cao Xing glanced over; these were all first-tier beings and posed no threat to him.

At this moment, one of the militia captains looked at Assam and asked, “Sir Knight, what brings you to Hog Village?”

He mistakenly thought Assam, who was riding the Frost Wolf, was the leader of the group.

Assam waved his hand and said, “Please speak with my Lord.”

Upon hearing this, all the militia fixed their gaze on the two people sitting atop the Track Robot.

They were instantly captivated by Liu Muxue’s beauty and exclaimed, “Such a beautiful lady… Is she a noble from the Ice Crystal Kingdom?”

Then, the militia shifted their gaze to Cao Xing beside her, cautiously asking, “This Lord… may I ask if there is something you need in our Hog Village?”

Cao Xing replied, “Nothing much, I am just passing through your village to see if I can purchase some supplies or do some business.”

Hearing this, the militia eased a sigh of relief.

The militia captain, who appeared to be around thirty years old, stepped forward.

“Lord, our Hog Village welcomes wanderers and merchants from all over the world.”

“However… your mounts and these mechanical creatures probably can’t enter the village; they would frighten the villagers…”

Perhaps fearing to anger Cao Xing, the militia captain quickly added, “But rest assured, sir, we will arrange for your mounts to stay in the shelter outside the village, so they won’t be exposed to wind and snow.”

Hearing this, Cao Xing nodded.

“That’s fine, these are my companions, and they are all very well-behaved.”

The militia captain breathed a sigh of relief and then led Cao Xing and the others to a nearby shelter.

Although it was just a temporary shelter, it was relatively clean.

Cao Xing nodded and said, “Muxue, Assam, Sarah, come with me into the village.”

“Andrew, Renice, take good care of our companions.”

Because he was simply going to the village to purchase some supplies, he didn’t need to bring many people along.

Moreover, with Sarah at a third-tier leader level, if they encountered any danger, it could be easily handled.

Renice and Andrew respectfully saluted, “At your command, my Lord.”

After pondering for a moment, Cao Xing noticed the Tree Spirit Clan member in the corner, “Juliette, you come along with us too.”

Juliette looked bewildered, but she instinctively jumped down from the digger’s bucket and walked to Cao Xing’s side.

Then, the five of them left the shelter and headed towards the village.

As soon as Sarah stepped out, she entered stealth mode, which was her habit, never exposing herself to public view.

Cao Xing didn’t mind.

Soon, they entered the village.

[You have entered a neutral area: Hog Village]

The village had many houses, each with a burning stove.

On the streets, many vendors were pushing carts, hauling vegetables, and selling wood, coal, and other fuels along the streets.

Seeing Assam clad in knight armor and the pale-skinned Juliette, the villagers cast glances mixed with fear and curiosity.

Cao Xing didn’t mind but instead looked at the buildings on either side of the street.

[Blacksmith Shop Level 2], [Sewing Shop Level 2], [Ore Processing Plant Level 3].

Inside these shops, they sold whiteboard equipment and simple cold-resistant clothing.

In such villages and towns, it was indeed hard to find skilled blacksmiths or sewing masters.

Cao Xing was not interested in going in; his goal was to purchase a batch of food, and then see if he could buy some cows or sheep to raise himself.

At this moment, Liu Muxue tugged at Cao Xing’s sleeve, pointing to a corner of a certain house.

Following the direction Liu Muxue pointed, Cao Xing saw a young man wearing a cotton hat, small in stature, looking at them with a scrutinizing gaze.

Cao Xing glanced at his attribute.

[Hog Village Villager: Dan lv2]

After pondering for a moment, he took out a coin from his backpack and tossed it in the air.

The young man named Dan seemed to understand something and nervously came over.

“S-Sir… may I be of service to you?”

Cao Xing asked, “I want to buy a batch of food, and I need you to guide us.”

Villager Dan, upon hearing this, showed a hint of maturity beneath his youthful face.

These days, only wealthy people could afford to buy food.

Villager Dan quickly said, “Sir, to purchase food you can go to the grain store. I know the owner; if the quantity is large, I might be able to secure a discount…”

Cao Xing chuckled; this young fellow was quite capable, even managing to connect with the grain store owner.

Happily, he tossed over ten crowns.

Villager Dan eagerly caught them, continuously expressing his gratitude.

At this point, Cao Xing asked again, “How long does a crown last you?”

Because he wasn’t yet familiar with the prices in this world and didn’t want to be ripped off when buying grain, Cao Xing asked in advance.

After receiving the money, Villager Dan replied joyfully, “Sir, in our village, one crown can buy a loaf of black bread, but white bread requires three crowns.”

Seemingly understanding Cao Xing’s intent, Dan continued, “Sir, based on our village’s grain prices.”

“For unpeeled wheat, it’s 10 crowns per pound; peeled wheat is 15 crowns; flour is 30 crowns per pound…”

After Dan finished speaking, Cao Xing nodded.
