The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 1659: Chapter 1658: Change in Attitude

Hamm had never imagined that the man standing in front of him was actually working for Su Changfeng.

But a moment later, Hamm remembered that back then Su Changfeng had seemed to say something similar to him, so in all likelihood, what Su Changfeng had wanted to know at the time was this same matter.

When Hamm went back then, he had already said he would help Su Changfeng find information about that person; since he had already promised Su Changfeng, once he knew this old man now wanted the same piece of information—

He naturally wouldn’t say again, like just now, that he wouldn’t agree.

So Hamm looked at Yang Tianshu, whose attitude had completely changed from just now, and said with a very serious expression, “I can go back and check this matter for you, but you know, the premise is that I have to return there.”

Seeing Hamm’s attitude toward him turn into this, Yang Tianshu also felt extremely surprised inside.

He really couldn’t figure out what on earth Su Changfeng had done to Hamm, that just hearing Su Changfeng’s name would make Hamm react like this.

Yang Tianshu looked at Hamm and asked curiously, “It seems like you’re terrified of Su Changfeng.”

At that, Hamm rolled his eyes at Yang Tianshu, feeling that what Yang Tianshu was saying right now was about as useful as farting.

Everything Su Changfeng had shown in front of them back then had already frightened them badly; the incident from that time had even left a shadow in Hamm’s heart.

Hamm looked at Yang Tianshu and said, “If you knew what kind of methods Su Changfeng really has, you’d definitely react the same way I do.”

Although Yang Tianshu didn’t know what story lay behind Hamm’s words, he still felt that just seeing someone’s skills and being scared to this degree was a bit impossible.

So Yang Tianshu merely nodded at Hamm, but the look on his face was still one of indifference.

Seeing the expression on Yang Tianshu’s face, Hamm knew this guy clearly hadn’t taken a single word of what he’d just said to heart.

Hamm didn’t want to say more about it either; after all, he figured Su Changfeng himself probably wouldn’t want others to know just how heaven-defying his skills really were.

Besides, the whole thing sounded utterly unbelievable; if Hamm hadn’t experienced it himself, he wouldn’t be able to believe any of it had really happened.

Hamm looked at Yang Tianshu and said, “Let me leave here. Once I get back, I’ll look into this and get it all clear for you.”

But in Yang Tianshu’s eyes, he was still somewhat hesitant.

Because Yang Tianshu knew very clearly what kind of status and position Hamm held in that organization; now that Hamm had fallen into his hands—

If he just let Hamm go this easily, to be honest, Yang Tianshu felt a little unwilling.

But Hamm had also said that only after he went back would he be able to dig up some information about what had happened back then, so after hesitating for a moment—

Yang Tianshu looked at Hamm and said, “Can I really trust what you’re saying?”

Hamm replied, “You need to understand, the reason I agreed has nothing to do with you. It’s mainly because this is something Su Changfeng told me to do.”

“I know you definitely won’t just casually believe what I say, but I don’t care whether you believe it or not. Get it?”

At that, Yang Tianshu was once again taken aback; from all of Hamm’s reactions, it was clear that Su Changfeng’s skills were indeed impressive—otherwise Hamm would never have reacted like this.

Yang Tianshu frowned and looked at Hamm, saying, “Once you go back, are you just going to throw everything Su Changfeng told you to do out the window?”

“I know it’s hard for you to believe me right now, but if you had seen with your own eyes what happened back then, you’d understand that even if I really do go back, there’s no way I can go back on my word.”

“Anything Su Changfeng orders me to do, I will definitely carry out. I don’t think that just because I return, Su Changfeng will suddenly stop being a threat to me.”

Hamm said this to Yang Tianshu bluntly; that was exactly how it was. Even if he left, he never thought he could escape Su Changfeng’s threat.

Su Changfeng had spared him twice already; something like that was extremely rare, and Hamm also understood very well the saying, ‘there’s a first time and a second time, but never a third.’

So Hamm was not about to casually stake his life on a gamble; if he really did just go back on his word, Su Changfeng would definitely be furious.

When that time came, if Su Changfeng really came for him, it probably wouldn’t just be him—his whole organization would be completely finished.

Even though Hamm knew that what he would have to do in the future wouldn’t be easy, compared to whether he’d be able to stay alive, that suddenly seemed a lot lighter.

After listening, Yang Tianshu looked at Hamm in silence for a long time, then said, “In that case, I’ll let you go.”

Once the ropes on Hamm were untied, he just stretched his limbs a bit and then walked straight out.

As for Yang Tianshu, he watched Hamm’s departing back with deep confusion. What on earth had Su Changfeng done to make Hamm so scared just from hearing his name?

Even to the point that, even after going back, Hamm still had to carry out everything Su Changfeng had ordered him to do?

Yang Tianshu frowned and thought it over; he felt that although Su Changfeng seemed quite capable, his influence over people shouldn’t be this strong, right?

Or was it that Su Changfeng hadn’t shown his true strength back then at all?

Wang Family?

When he thought of this, Yang Tianshu started to wonder what exactly the situation had been over at the Wang Family at the time.

He thought about it for a long time but still couldn’t figure it out. After living so many years, he still couldn’t imagine what kind of method could scare a person to this extent.

In fact, Yang Tianshu wanted to investigate what had really happened with the Wang Family back then, but he also knew that even if he did investigate, he probably wouldn’t find anything.

After all, if even someone like Hamm was this terrified, then the people of the Wang Family would definitely be just as frightened.

So this matter definitely wouldn’t be spread around; everyone would surely keep their mouths tightly shut.
