The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 993: Chapter 992: Dennis’s Inner Struggles

”In response to Mr. Shangguan, we were indeed friends before, and we got along quite well, but if he has offended you in any way, I will sever ties with him today.” The elder respectfully answered Shangguan Sichen’s question.

”It’s not quite an offense, but I am planning to have this violinist teach my great-granddaughter violin, what do you think?” Shangguan Sichen asked casually.

”With Dennis’s violin expertise, he would absolutely be an excellent teacher. It would be his lifelong honor to teach your great-granddaughter.” The elder responded courteously to Shangguan Sichen, and after speaking, he quickly gave Dennis a look.

Dennis was not a dull person; seeing his old friend being so polite to the man in front of him, he figured that he must not be an ordinary individual.

Therefore, Dennis hurriedly said, ”Mr. Shangguan, it would be my great honor to teach your great-granddaughter.”

Shangguan Sichen heard Dennis’s words and a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Those masters who are praised by others are nothing in his eyes.

”It’s good that you’ve agreed; cherish such an opportunity. By the way, there’s another quite skilled painter; I don’t recall his name specifically. You should know who he is, right? Can you find him?” Shangguan Sichen asked Dennis.

”You must be referring to Horton. I have a deep friendship with him; if Mr. Shangguan wants to invite him, I can tell him.” Dennis responded respectfully, completely changing his previous arrogant attitude.

”Alright, then you should also inform him to set off to Jiang City immediately. Both of you teach my great-granddaughter together.” Shangguan Sichen said indifferently.

Dennis had always had a question in mind. He really wanted to know how old Shangguan Sichen’s great-great-granddaughter is. Because whether it’s learning to paint or play the violin, there needs to be a learning period, especially for children. If they miss the learning period, even globally renowned masters would make little difference.

”Mr. Shangguan, I have had a question on my mind, and I’m wondering if I could ask.” Dennis said.

”If you have something to ask, just go ahead and say it.” Shangguan Sichen said nonchalantly.

”Mr. Shangguan, I’d like to ask how old your great-great-granddaughter is?” Dennis deliberated before asking.

”In a few days, she will be just a hundred days old.” Shangguan Sichen replied calmly.

”Ah! Not even a hundred days yet!” Dennis’s jaw nearly fell to the ground in shock. A child who cannot speak or even walk, how can he make her hold a paintbrush? How can he engage her in playing?

Shangguan Sichen was very displeased; his old face turned gloomy as he looked at Dennis with dissatisfaction and said, ”Are you now unwilling? Do you look down on my great-great-granddaughter? Even though she’s young and knows nothing, are you not willing to be her teacher anymore?”

”No, no, Mr. Shangguan, you’ve misunderstood my meaning.” Dennis quickly explained, saying, ”I would never dare to think like that. I just feel that since your great-great-granddaughter is not yet a hundred days old, I’m not sure what I’d teach if I went.”

”She’s certainly too young to learn now, but when the time comes, you should play violin for her and paint for her, just make her happy.” Shangguan Sichen said.

Internally, Dennis was speechless. He, a master whom many people wish to listen to in concert, now ends up teaching a child, moreover, a baby who knows nothing. If others found out, they’d probably ridicule him, turning him into food for idle chatter. However, he dared not refuse, for if he genuinely declined, he might face the same fate as those bodyguards.

After all, the elder before him was treated politely even by friends of the Royal Family; he certainly couldn’t afford to offend him.

”Mr. Shangguan, I believe I understand. Rest assured, I will certainly fulfill my duty as your great-great-granddaughter’s teacher.” Dennis responded.

”Hmm, there’s one more thing. My great-great-granddaughter’s name is Yè Sunian. Make sure to disclose it publicly, saying you are taking her as a student.” Shangguan Sichen said, squinting his eyes.

Dennis was internally reluctant; after all, he didn’t want others to know that he had accepted a less than hundred-day-old baby as his student. Because he didn’t want to be laughed at, but what could he do? He could only agree.

”Alright, Mr. Shangguan, rest easy. Horton and I will personally announce this matter.” Dennis bowed his head and spoke to Shangguan Sichen.

The globally renowned violinist Dennis and painting master Horton, now together announcing the acceptance of a child named Sunian as a student, was undoubtedly shocking and has become headline news everywhere, even splashed across many apps.

This was the first time Sunian’s name appeared in the public eye, and the first time it graced an international stage.

And in Jiang City, Shen Group.

Shen Siwen was sitting in the president’s office, each day reviewing contracts and handling some rather important documents. Once these tasks were dealt with, he’d relax a bit by browsing international websites or news to pass the time.

On this particular day, Shen Siwen opened his office computer and saw a line of striking big words written on it, bearing Sunian’s name, which intrigued Shen Siwen greatly, prompting him to explore what kind of news it was.

”There’s actually someone with the same name as Sunian in this world.” Shen Siwen murmured while looking at the news.

But as Shen Siwen scrutinized the dense words below, his face showed utter shock.

Even though she lacked talent in violin and painting, not knowing much, she was still part of high society, which gave her some understanding of such matters. She naturally knew the reputation Dennis and Horton had; they were figures renowned globally.

Dennis’s concerts were full houses, and most of those attending were nobles. Besides, concert tickets used to fetch sky-high prices, many would fight to listen to his concerts.

Horton often held exhibitions, and whenever he produced a piece, it would sell for a good price. Horton once had a work collected by a member of the Royal Family, sold at an auction for a staggering one billion.
