Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1978: Who to go?

The people below understood Xia Leiʼs words very clearly.

The number of parasites was extremely large, and Cloud Peak had a significant disadvantage in this aspect.

Indeed, in the apocalypse, one level-nine lifeform could match many other level lifeforms, but sometimes numbers could truly make up for the level gap.

The simplest example was the Female Guard. They were only a few hundred people, but they could easily surround and kill a level-nine lifeform, and fight two level-nine lifeforms to a standstill.

One could say it was because their equipment was good, all gold gear, or that their levels were high, all eight stars, so naturally they could resist top-tier lifeforms.

But even if they didnʼt have this equipment and werenʼt eight-star level, what if their numbers increased tenfold? That would only be a few thousand people. If that werenʼt enough, would increasing it to ten thousand work?

Quantitative change causes qualitative change; it would eventually be possible.

Moreover, how could one know that among over five million, no top-tier existences had appeared? How many were equivalent to level-eight mutants?

Cloud Peak had to fight these parasites, but how? Even if the entire Cloud Peak went all out, could they steadily achieve victory? Even if they won, would they be severely weakened and suffer heavy casualties, making it difficult for them to carry on in the future?

Once Cloud Peak declined, no matter how powerful, glorious, or awesome they were now, the backlash they would suffer would be equally great, strong, and ruthless.
Everyone did not want that.

Xia Lei also did not want that. The method she devised was simple, yet cruel.

Find cannon fodder!

Transfer the losses to other lifeforms!

Crude and straightforward, but definitely very effective.

When Xia Lei said she needed two million cannon fodder, it wasnʼt that she naturally hoped to use these cannon fodder to exchange for an equal number of parasites. But with them taking the front, perhaps Cloud Peak could inflict more casualties.

”Sister Lei, can we issue a recruitment order across the entire country zone, offer some money or equipment or something, to gather people to attack with us. That way, including the cannon fodder, perhaps we could match the parasites in numbers.”

Candy raised her hand and made a suggestion.

Previously, Cloud Peak had used this method when resisting the zombie tide and in many other battles.

If it could reduce losses, spending some money was something Cloud Peak probably wouldnʼt mind.

But Xia Lei shook her head.

”For now, this matter should not be known by more people. After completing the battle, the corpses of these parasites are our ultimate goal.”

Many people looked at each other, somewhat unsure of what they were seeing.

”Anyway, everyone use the two months to prepare, to minimize losses as much as possible when the time comes.”

Xia Lei said this, then thought for a moment and added, ”Regarding materials, use a frequency of delivering to headquarters once every half month. Here, we will strive to manufacture as many items as possible that can aid in the battle. The manufacturing-type job members you can find should also, as before, be given good terms to settle in Cloud Peak as much as possible.”

”But the screening cannot be relaxed.” Xia Lei added another sentence.

”Besides this, our exploration of secret realms must also be put on the agenda. This is something Zhongming hopes we do as well. We have collected some secret realm keys, but due to unknown dangers and too many tasks, we havenʼt opened them. However, other races have opened some, and Chameleon has collected a considerable amount of information in this regard. I will also compile it into documents and distribute them to everyone.”

The matter of secret realms was a bit beyond everyoneʼs knowledge. So far, only Cloud Peak had managed to fully explore a secret realm and gain huge benefits from it.

Others who had opened secret realms either cautiously explored bit by bit, making little progress in a year, or went all-in, wanting to gain great benefits, but ended up completely wiped out inside.

But strangely, there had been no reports of large-scale invasions by secret realm lifeforms anywhere.

This was a question, but Cloud Peak basically wouldnʼt consider it. However, in the message Ye Zhongming sent this time, he asked everyone to pay more attention to matters related to secret realms and to report any discoveries to the universe during the next communication.

”And one last thing.” Xia Lei sat down again, looked at everyone, and said, ”Zhongming, Ji Ruiguang, and others left Earth because they each had an admission ticket. Previously, I also asked everyone to pay attention, but there seems to have been no progress.”

Everyone truly valued this matter. Every time they occupied an area, searching for admission tickets was an absolutely a primary task. However, despite the country not being large, not even one more ticket was found by Cloud Peak.

”Here, I now have five.”

After Xia Lei finished speaking, she took out five admission tickets from her hand and placed them on the table.

Everyone looked sideways, a bit stunned. They hadnʼt found even one, and Xia Lei took out five at once?

Everyoneʼs first thought was that Chameleon found them. If that were the case, the gap between the main combat teams and them was too large.

”Zhongming sent them back from the skies.” Xia Lei smiled and said, ”Everyone has thought of it, right? With this kind of admission ticket, on the Guiding Day, one can use it to go to the place of the cosmic races.”

”Then wouldnʼt we see the boss immediately?” Little Tiger couldnʼt contain his itch. He felt going to the heavens to kill a few rounds would be satisfying, just like his boss did.

Xia Lei nodded, then shook her head.

”Previously, that is, when Zhongming went, it should have been Earthʼs first Guiding Day. The first few to become nine-star evolved went to the heavens together. The message Zhongming sent back said, according to incomplete statistics, there were at least eight people, possibly others he didnʼt discover.”

Everyone listened attentively, because this might be their future.

”And these admission tickets are for use on the next Guiding Day. That is to say, we can have five lifeforms that have reached level nine go to the heavens to help Zhongming.”

”Iʼll go!”

Little Tiger was the first to stand up. ”I will evolve now, strive to complete it as soon as possible. On the next Guiding Day, I want to go to the skies.”

This guy even jumped onto his chair, shouting and yelling.

”Hmm, indeed, why donʼt you just go to the heavens! Sit down!” Xia Lei scolded. Little Tiger sat down unwillingly, but still had an expectant look on his face.

”You want to go up? Then what about your team?”

”Easy to handle, give it to someone else to lead, for example, Sister Lei, you could work a bit harder, or simply hand it over to Uncle Daqian.”

Li Daqian immediately waved his hands upon hearing this.

”Little Tiger, spare this old man. The matters of the War Beast Corps are already plenty. Give me so many cavalry and war beasts, too? Iʼd be worked to death! No, no!”

Everyone laughed upon hearing this. In their hearts, they all understood that, as someone who joined Cloud Peak later, even if just to avoid suspicion, Li Daqian would definitely not take over Little Tigerʼs team, and Xia Lei would not agree either, so he said it first to prevent others from overthinking.
