My Youth Began With Him

Su Yu was suddenly enlightened. It seemed that when Pudding and Little Bean appeared after they came back from Yunnan, it was all an illusion created by the dream makers. The real twins never entered their dreams. Was it something that could ward off evil? Su Yu tried hard to recall. Suddenly, he remembered that the twins always had a pair of white jade gourds around their necks. They were given to them by Lu Yan when they were just born, and they were said to be priceless. Jade had the ability to ward off evil. Perhaps Lu Yan had prayed to obtain some blessings on the jade.

That made sense…

“Master Wu… why is the dream afraid of amulets and white jade?”

Su Yu turned into a curious baby, asking all the questions in his heart.

Master Wu replied slowly, “What should I tell you? Let’s make an analogy… Although dream makers and hypnotists are the most advanced technologies now… They are not superstitions. These are only the views of ordinary people. In the view of Daoism, after creating a dream and letting others enter… to attain a certain objective, we call them evil techniques… It’s like watching a period drama where someone practices martial arts. Although they are highly skilled in martial arts, it’s the same as when someone gains powers using dark methods… Good and evil do not coexist… Evil things will definitely have something to subdue them. Therefore, at this time, be it amulets, charms, Great Compassion Mantra, or white jade, they would become methods to avoid evil things.”

“I understand what you mean now.” Su Yu nodded thoughtfully.

“But you subconsciously added your amulet to yourself in your dream. You don’t have a real amulet…” Master Wu said.

“Yes, I only asked my mother for the amulet after I came back.” Su Yu touched the amulet, feeling a mix of emotions.

“Therefore, the thing that saved you was not the amulet. After all, it did not really exist in your dream.”

“That should be the scripture I learned by accident. As my mother is a Buddhist, I often hear her chant the Great Compassion Mantra. As time passed, I also picked up a little.”

Su Yu followed Master Wu’s train of thought and revealed the truth for himself. Suddenly, he felt that the mystery was getting clearer, as if the clouds were about to disperse.

Master Wu nodded. “There’s nothing wrong with what you’re saying. The Great Compassion Mantra is indeed one of the most important points, but that’s not the most important thing. The most important thing is… you already felt that something was wrong in the dream… Although you didn’t think it through directly, your thoughts and logic have already begun to guide you… It’s like a person dreaming and then realizing that they’re dreaming. So what really saved you wasn’t your amulet, not your Great Compassion Mantra, but your own consciousness.”

If an ordinary person heard this, they would definitely be confused.

However, Su Yu immediately understood…

Indeed, many times in the dream, he felt that something was wrong…

After coming back from Yunnan, he felt that Huo Mian was strange and something was wrong with Qin Chu. He felt like something was wrong with him eating with Huo Mian in the underwater palace…

Therefore, Su Yu was the only person among them who didn’t completely believe in the dream. That was why he was sent out with the help of the amulet and the Great Compassion Mantra. It could be considered a narrow escape…

“By the way, Master Wu, there’s something I don’t understand.”

“Go ahead.”

“The time does not match. I asked my friend’s butler. My friend and his wife even came back to sleep last night… It’s only been one night, but it’s been more than a month in my dream, and the timeline is messed up… What’s going on? Are we going back to reality every day and dreaming only at night?” Su Yu was getting more and more confused.
