My Youth Began With Him

“Honey, am I hearing right? What are you talking about? My dad committed murder?”

“I didn’t think he murdered anyone, but I think he had something to do with it. I also think he has something to do with the pets that were murdered.”

Only then did Zhixin detect the seriousness of the situation. He turned off his computer, turned around, and placed Hachi, who was whimpering quietly in pain, down on the bed.

Zhixin placed his hands around Bella, and the latter began telling him everything she heard that evening.

After listening to everything, Zhixin stood up for his long-lost father. “Honey, you have to be reasonable. You can’t suspect Dad because of what you heard. Also, you heard Mom, Dad doesn’t like dogs because he lost his last dog… plus, he slapped Hachi because he tried to bite dad. That’s not enough proof to accuse him of murder… that’s a very serious accusation.”

Bella took a deep breath and explained calmly. “But you have to admit that Dad’s being weird. Last night, Mom and I heard a weird noise and Dad said it was a bird. I don’t believe him. Plus, we didn’t see any birds in the morning.”

“Didn’t Dad say that he let the bird go?” Zhixin asked.

“Are you going to believe everything he says?”

“But… he’s my Dad…”

“But what if he’s not your Dad?” Bella questioned.

“What are you talking about? Who is he supposed to be if he’s not my dad?” Zhixin burst out in laughter. Then, he placed his arms around Bella. “Honey, don’t be mad at me. I’m sure Dad slapped Hachi because he was trying to bite him, he wasn’t mad at you, I promise! If you’re mad, hit me, okay? Let’s not accuse him of murder because you’re not happy with the way he’s acting, alright?”

Zhixin genuinely thought that Bella was nitpicking because she was mad that Jing De had scolded her. Bella, however, couldn’t voice her true thoughts. So, she shook her head. “Forget it, I’m not mad.”

“Don’t overthink it, okay?”

“I won’t.” Finally, Bella decided to change the subject. She was worried that Zhixin might tell Jing De and wake the sleeping wolf.

Huo Mian and Qin Chu entrusted her with such a big secret; she didn’t tell Zhixin what they had told her because she knew Zhixin could be very naïve. Plus, like Yang Meirong, Zhixin was too emotional when it came to Jing De and trusted him no matter what he did or said.

That evening, Bella tossed and turned on her bed, unable to fall asleep.

She was horrified by what had happened in their complex. If this all really had to do with Jing De, then… who was he? Was he just no more than a psychopath?

Would he hurt Yang Meirong and Zhixin? Did he have other things on his agenda?

Oh the other side of the world, Professor Lu left the States alone with a face mold, and headed for Iceland.

On his way there, he called Lu Yan and tried to stop her and Qin Chu from rescuing Huo Mian and Su Yu. He really thought that some giant conspiracy was behind this kidnapping.

To his disappointment, Lu Yan refused to stay put and even hung up on him. This left Professor Lu more anxious than ever.

Therefore, he immediately headed to Iceland. When Dr. Lin Ya sustained a bullet in her brain and fell into a deep coma, Professor Lu didn’t want his wife to be brain dead, so he froze her body using very advanced technology. He hoped that one day, he would be able to resurrect her with his own research.

Over the last few years, he’s tried everything to wake Lin Ya up but sadly, failed again and again. If Qin Chu didn’t tell him about Jing De’s return, Professor Lu wouldn’t even think of Lin Ya.

But now…

Professor Lu, wearing a thick down jacket, slowly walked into the depths of the ice cave. As expected, the coffin, which was of ice, was empty. Lin Ya had disappeared…

Lu Yan had told him that last time she was here, Lin Ya was still sleeping inside.
