My Youth Began With Him

“It’s okay, Jie. No need…” Huo Mian smiled, she didn’t seem angered by Zhang Manlin’s provocation.

“How could you? If you don’t go off on her, she’s going to step all over you. If you don’t show her what you’re capable of, she’ll treat you like a sandbag… You’re our vice director, you’ve never been afraid. You took care of Song Yishi so well…” Chen Jie was a gentlewoman but even she couldn’t take the abuse anymore.

She was telling Ni Yang this yesterday, and he almost came to South Side to yell at Zhang Manlin.

“Jie, it’s not about fear… If a dog barks at a lion, the lion would never look back… A warrior would never use a sword to kill a fly… If I keep sinking to their level, it means that I am no better. I really have no time to deal with people like Zhang Manlin.”

“But Sister Mian, what if she poses a threat to you?” Chen Jie was a little worried.

“Don’t worry, she could never… Anyways, when I finish taking care of Su Yu’s affairs, I’ll take care of her.”

“Okay, that’s good…” Chen Jie stopped asking after hearing that.

Huo Mian drove to the City Bureau…

She called Jiang Xiaowei and she came to the door to pick her up.

“Mian, you’re here to see Su Yu, right? Let’s go.”

Jiang Xiaowei had been working as a psychologist at the City Bureau for a long time. Her reputation was very high.

“No, I’m not here to see Su Yu. Xiaowei, I want to see Lin Mingyu.”

“Damn, why do you want to see him?” Jiang Xiaowei was caught off guard.

“I want him to do a favor for me.”

“Are you close to him? He’s hard to convince. Would he help you?” She was worried.

Forensic doctors all had strange attitudes… Jiang Xiaowei thought that he wouldn’t easily help Huo Mian.

“I don’t care, I’ll try.” Huo Mian looked serious.

“Let’s go.” Jiang Xiaowei took Huo Mian to Lin Mingyu.

Lin Mingyu wasn’t in the office, he rarely was. He was always in the autopsy room working with corpses, and his clothes reeked of formalin.

She heard that he was doing well for himself, but his manners were getting stranger.

All those years ago, he fell for Huo Mian right away when the Head Nurse Xu Yan introduced him to her.

Sadly, at that time, Huo Mian was already registered with Qin Chu.

But then, even if Huo Mian wasn’t married, she wouldn’t have gotten with him.

However, he was stubborn and still had feelings for Huo Mian…

“Is Dr. Lin here?” at the door of the office, Jiang Xiaowei asked.

“Dr. Lin is analyzing results inside the autopsy room. Would you like to speak with him, Dr. Jiang?” Lin Mingyu’s assistant was extremely polite to Jiang Xiaowei.

“Mhm, I have something urgent. Can you call him?”

“Okay, I’ll do that right now,” as soon as she picked up the phone, the assistant pointed and said, “Look, he’s back.”

Huo Mian and Jiang Xiaowei turned their heads and saw the white-coated Lin Mingyu walk in with a stack of files in hand.

“Doctor Lin, I am here to ask for a favor,” Huo Mian declared her intention right away.

Jiang Xiaowei thought that Lin Mingyu would turn her down, but after he looked at Huo Mian, he faintly said, “Come in.”
