My Youth Began With Him

”I’ve missed you, you’re such an ungrateful brat. You haven’t been home in such a long time. Your grandpa’s been nagging to me about you too.”

”Oh… I’ve been really busy and forgot to visit.” Su Yu randomly thought of an excuse.

”Come, sit.” Mrs. Qin patted the seat beside her. Su Yu removed his jacket, revealing a stylish, Chinese-style shirt and sat down beside his mother.

”You went drinking?” Mrs. Su asked upon smelling the reek of alcohol on her son.

”Mhm.” He nodded.

Then, she passed him a peeled apple. ”Have some fruit.”

Su Yu took the apple, bit into it, and slowly leaned back on the couch…

”Yu… I saw the news today,” Mrs. Su slowly said in a soft tone.

”Oh…” Su Yu responded nonchalantly.

”Are you sad?”

”What do you think?” Su Yu smiled bitterly as he took a giant bite from the apple.

”You should just listen to me and forget about her… She was never yours to begin with.” The truth was, Mrs. Su liked Huo Mian very much and once wanted to see how far she and her son could go.

However, later she realized that Huo Mian had a great relationship with her husband and immediately told her son not to interfere with her marriage.

She even arranged a couple of unsuccessful dates for Su Yu.

”I know, you don’t have to remind me.”

”But I feel bad seeing you like this. I gave birth to you; how could I not know what’s going on in your head?” Mrs. Su said as her eyes became misty.

”Mom… I’m really fine, it’ll pass.”

”You should go abroad during the wedding, give yourself some time off. I’ll ask someone from our family to take care of your company, you don’t have to worry about it.” Mrs. Su already planned to send someone from the bank to help out at Imperial Star.

”No, I’m not going anywhere. I need to attend the wedding.”

”Son, how big is your heart? Why would you go to the wedding?”

”I have to go, she invited me,” Su Yu answered in all seriousness; he wanted to fulfill all of Huo Mian’s wishes.

”Yu, you are not going to be single for the rest of your life, right?”

Su Yu didn’t answer…

”Huo Mian won’t end up in our family, can you stop thinking about her?”

”I’m not, I just… I just miss her. I can’t get over her,” Su Yu said innocently; truth be told, he wanted to get over Huo Mian more than anything in the world. But love wasn’t something that could be easily picked up and thrown away.

If he could, he wouldn’t be human; he’d be a Buddha!

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Su burst out in tears, freaking Su Yu out. ”Mom, why are you crying?”

”I’m just worried about you… you’re so stubborn. When you were young, you were even sad for years after our family dog died. How can I live with myself knowing that the woman you’re in love with is married…”

”Ha, I’m not becoming a monk. I think… sooner or later, my feelings for Huo Mian will disappear. After all, time will wipe anything clean. She’ll have her own family and children one day, and I can’t be alone for the rest of my life, right?”

”Do you really think so?”

”Mhm.”

”So when can you get married and give me grandchildren?” Mrs. Su asked with much anticipation, but Su Yu replied vaguely, ”Um… once I can accept another woman.”

”What if you never meet someone like that?”

”I’m not that long-lasting, who’s to say I’ll never meet someone?” Su Yu smiled as he comforted his mom. ”Mom, please stop crying. Even my dad’s terrified of your tears.”

”Don’t mention your dad to me, all he cares about is the bank and money. I haven’t seen him in almost six months.”

Su Financial Bank was headquartered in Jing City, so Su Yu’s dad hadn’t been home in a while.

”Do you think he’s got someone else on the side?”

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Su immediately punched her son in the shoulder...
