My Youth Began With Him

“Ming Jue Temple.”

Qin Chu was a little surprised, then nodded afterward.

After eating breakfast at South Hill Manor, they headed out.

Ming Jue Temple was located 60 kilometers east of C City.

It was a thousand-year-old temple located deep within a gorgeous mountain.

Apparently, this temple was first constructed during the Ming Dynasty and then experienced several renovations. Even though it was just a little temple deep in the mountains, over the years, countless worshippers have traveled there to show their dedication.

On the way there, Huo Mian told Qin Chu a story, “Honey, I heard that there’s a statue of the Goddess of Mercy that was formed naturally and rose up from the South China Sea after the tide went out. Afterward, people moved it to this far-out mountain to worship it. It is said that its ability to answer prayers works really effectively.”

“You believe in stuff like that…?”

“When someone is in a hopeless situation, there’s nothing wrong with resorting to the gods.” Huo Mian smiled while holding Qin Chu’s arm.

It took them more than an hour to get there…

Perhaps it was because of the weather, but there weren’t many people there.

Both Qin Chu and Huo Mian wore black cashmere jackets and white scarves. One look and anyone would know that they were wearing couple outfits.

The good looks of this couple attracted a lot of attention on the way.

Especially Mr. Qin, as a lot of people secretly snapped pictures of him with their phones.

“Honey, are we going to buy the incense sticks at the door?” Qin Chu had never been to a temple, so he wasn’t sure what to do.

“No, we can head inside directly.”

“Kind-hearted people, please spare some change for me…”

“Buddhas, please offer something.”

There were a lot of beggars kneeling outside the temple, with metal bowls in their hands.

Huo Mian took out a bunch of spare 10 yuan bills…

And she gave everyone 20 or 30 yuan each.

“Don’t you worry that they are liars?” Qin Chu held her by the shoulder.

“Even if they are liars, it’s fine. It’s freezing cold and not easy to kneel here and beg.”

Huo Mian decided from the bottom of her heart that she was going to do good deeds for the entire day…

Usually, when others called her a Mary Sue, she would laugh.

Some people were probably just too dumb to tell who was actually a Mary Sue.

Those who see a crazy dog biting people and would still argue for the dog, and those who see someone killing a fly and would complain about killing it, those were the people who should really be called Mary Sues.

Huo Mian didn’t consider herself as someone who enjoyed butting into other people’s business, just like Lei Feng who cared about everyone with his full heart.

She only helped those that she genuinely cared about…

Given Huo Mian’s personality, she couldn’t be a Mary Sue. For the most part, she had correct moral views.

For any person living in this world, having the correct moral views was necessary and a top priority.

But having good moral views didn’t mean being a holier-than-thou bitch.

But today, she was going to take a bit further just for one day in order to pray for her wish…

It was because she came with three wishes today…

At the foot of the mountain…

Staring at the 1,700 stair steps which looked just like a ladder to the sky, Qin Chu felt confused. “Should we take the tram up?”

Huo Mian laughed, “Mr. Qin, do you think it’s a scenic spot…? Why would there be a tram? We have to walk up.”

“Fine, I will consider it fitness training. Let’s go,” Qin Chu held Huo Mian’s hand tightly and was about to walk up when Huo Mian stopped him, “You go ahead and walk up first.”

“You go ahead and walk…”

“What about you?” Qin Chu turned around and looked at Huo Mian curiously.

“I’m going to kowtow every three steps.”

“You are crazy…” Qin Chu was bewildered; there were 1,700 steps in total, each on a steep slope. She might die from exhaustion if she kowtowed every three steps!

“Honey, I came here today with three wishes. I was hoping I could do something to make the gods feel sympathetic…”

After that, Huo Mian let go of Qin Chu’s hand. After taking three steps, she knelt down and kowtowed with her hands in prayer.

“Mian… you don’t have to do this.” Feeling a bit heartbroken, Qin Chu looked at her; he seemed to have already guessed what her three wishes were…
