My Youth Began With Him

The senior Mrs. Qin tried to recall the details of last night.

“Last night I saw your daddy seeing someone off… your mommy probably left at that moment.”

“Did something happen in Grandma’s home?” Pudding guessed.

“Don’t guess about it, kids. I trust your Daddy. Since he could let your mommy go, she’ll be fine,” their grandfather said, and Pudding thought he was right.

Their daddy always knew what he was doing, and he loved their mommy more than anyone else. He’d never bear to let her take risks, right?

At 9 AM, Qin Chu called everyone to his office to tell them the truth. After all, Huo Mian had set off as Zhao Qingya instructed, so it didn’t matter that people knew about it.

Qin Chu told them the main points. One was that Su Yu was kidnapped by Zhao Qingya but was still alive; the other was that Zhao Qingya demanded Huo Mian to do the rescue alone and Huo Mian had set off.

Everyone was stunned by his words…

Gao Ran: “I wondered why you had me investigate Zhao Qingya; so she is the mastermind?”

Qin Chu: “She isn’t. The mastermind is someone more powerful.”

Tang Chuan: “Damn it. Is the woman crazy? She’s still alive… I thought she died in prison long ago. Su Yu is finished if she kidnapped him. Her sister died in Mr. Su’s house and she was imprisoned for a long time. She must hate his guts.”

Wei Liao: “Do you know where they are?”

Qin Chu: “Not yet. I planted several trackers on Mian and I’ll know the location when she gets there.”

Jiang Xiaowei: “Mian is silly. Why didn’t you guys tell us? We can work together. How could she go alone…?”

Qin Chu: “Zhao Qingya has high-level hackers working for her and they even monitored my phone conversations with Mian. They must have spies here, so Huo Mian didn’t dare to tell you guys, fearing it would put Su Yu in danger. I tried to investigate Zhao Qingya in the States; she got angry and sent Huo Mian a video clip in which Su Yu was shot twice. It was her warning.”

Tang Chuan: “What? He was shot?”

He was terrified, so were the others.

Qin Chu: “They shot his collarbones and he’s still alive. Zhao Qingya did it as a warning to Mian.”

Wei Liao: “That woman is crazy. But it’s even more dangerous for them.”

Of course, Wei Liao referred to Huo Mian and Su Yu.

The strange thing was that while the others were expressing their opinions, Zhu Lingling, Huo Mian’s bestie, had been silent with her head lowered.

“Lingling, what’s wrong?”

Gao Ran noticed her strange silence and patted her on the shoulder.

She exploded instantly. “Qin Chu, how could you let Mian go by herself? She’ll be in labor soon… How could you let her go?”

Zhu Lingling cried her heart out and berated Qin Chu in a loud voice, stunning the others.

Qin Chu lowered his head slowly.

After a long while, he said, “We’re deeply indebted to the Su Family; Mian is always grateful to them and has said countless times that she’d do anything to help Su Yu when he’s in trouble. Now that Su Yu was kidnapped, if she holed up for the sake of the baby in her belly and Su Yu died, she’d feel worse than death; she’d be burdened with guilt for the rest of her life. Even I wouldn’t want her to live like that, not to mention Mian.”

Hearing his words, the others fell silent.

Huo Mian’s promises were never empty; after getting so many favors from the Su Family, she’d never back off when Su Yu needed her help.

“But have you considered the possibility that she and the baby would both die if she couldn’t make it back…?” Zhu Lingling demanded with a choking voice.

“Lingling, stop it.” Gao Ran couldn’t let her continue, knowing these words would only make Qin Chu feel worse.

In the whole world, Qin Chu cared for Huo Mian more than anyone else.
