My Youth Began With Him

“Mian, you’re working yourself too hard… sleep, I’ll tell you everything when I come back.”

Qin Chu caressed Huo Mian’s face gently…

“Who called?”

“Su Yu.”

“He probably has information on the twins. I have to go…” Huo Mian barely sat up on the bed.

Unable to fight Huo Mian’s stubbornness, Qin Chu grabbed a thick jacket from the closet and draped it over her.

The duo then left their home, driving off in their car.

– The Huo Mansion –

“Boss, I have news.” Ah-Cheng knocked on the door and entered the room.

Huo Siqian was sipping on tea, appearing quite happy.

He was wearing a Chinese Tang suit, looking very traditional.

In his hand was a priceless string of honey wax beads. It was said that he had bought it off a Tibetan family back when he backpacked across Tibet.

“The twins are out of He Yongjun’s control. They’re with Zhang Manlin now.”

“I’m not surprised.”

“I’m not sure what she’s going to do next…” Ah-Cheng said.

“I’ve made myself very clear. I don’t want the kids to come back.” Huo Siqian sipped on his tea.

“But Zhang Manlin might not listen to you. She’s very manipulative. Plus, she’s in love with Qin Chu and wants desperately to have some sort of connection with him… so…”

“That’s easy. Where is she now?”

“She’s been on the road going into the mountains ever since she left Tao Yuan village. Her coordinates show up as 295 heading southwest.”

“That’s good. How brave of her… let’s see where she’s going to take the kids…” Huo Siqian chuckled lightly.

“Then should we do something?”

“Yes, we should. Take a snippet of the video from her car and send it to the police anonymously. Gao Ran will see it which means Qin Chu will see it too. The police will then go after her. Once her warrant is out, she’ll be guilty of kidnapping regardless of her intentions.”

“Boss, wouldn’t that make Zhang Manlin useless to us in the future?” Ah-Cheng was taken aback.

“I never planned to use her forever anyway. At least we can benefit if we give her up now.”

“Alright, Boss, I’ll do that immediately.”

An hour later, Gao Ran received the anonymous tip, the sight of it horrifying him.

He gave Qin Chu a call and soon after, Qin Chu, Su Yu, and Huo Mian arrived at his office. The four began their meeting.

“How could this be? Why are the kids with Zhang Manlin?” Huo Mian was stunned.

“Yeah, it’s so strange… Qin Chu even called me before and told me to investigate into Shen Jiani.” Gao Ran was also more than confused.

“Something weird definitely happened. Oh, did you check out the man who was with Shen Jiani?” Su Yu asked.

Gao Ran nodded. He took out a file folder and placed it on the table.

“This man is a dangerous criminal. He was a fugitive before; he’d killed someone. He later went into hiding in Vietnam and his case went cold. Now he’s back in the country with a new identity. I can’t believe he’s involved with Shen Jiani…”

“Shen Jiani came back to hurt me. As far as she’s concerned, I was the one who killed Huo Siyi,” said Huo Mian, feeling uneasy.

“Whatever’s the case, we should conduct a full-scale manhunt. He Yongjun and Shen Jiani need to be arrested and… the same goes for Zhang Manlin,” said Su Yu.

Just then, Qin Chu took out his phone and dialed Zhang Manlin’s number…

If Zhang Manlin really had the kids, Qin Chu was confident in convincing Zhang Manlin to bring them back safely.

What he hadn’t expected, however, was Huo Siqian’s preemptive, dirty strike… making the case even more complicated.
