When Huo Mian arrived, her mother had just finished breakfast and was cleaning the house.

“Mom…”

“Mian, you’re back?”

“Yeah, Mom… where’s Xiuping?” Huo Mian glanced around and asked carefully.

“Oh, she left…” Yang Meirong said as she mopped the floor.

“Oh? She left? Where did she go?”

“She said she found a job that provided food and hostel and 5,000 yuan a month. I thought it was pretty good, so I let her go. Otherwise, staying here and doing nothing all day is no better than being in jail.”

“Oh…” Huo Mian nodded and didn’t say anything else.

“Oh, right, I found my jewelry, Mian.”

“You found it? Where?”

Huo Mian knew Yang Xiuping was scared of going to prison, so she would definitely trade her mother’s jewelry back.

They weren’t worth a lot, but it was a matter of character.

At the end of the day, theft was disgraceful…

One couldn’t use poverty as an excuse to let jealousy take over and therefore steal from others.

Yang Meirong put down the mop in her hand and stood up straight. “Xiuping found them when she was helping me organize my old clothes. It’s really weird, I looked everywhere for them, and they suddenly appeared out of nowhere.”

“Did you find everything? Was anything missing?” Still worried, Huo Mian asked, and Yang Meirong shook her head. “No, everything was there.”

“Oh, good then…”

“What’s wrong?” Yang Meirong felt like her daughter was acting a little weird today.

“Nothing…”

“Mian… any news from your belly?” Yang Meirong suddenly remembered, and Huo Mian shook her head. “No…”

“Don’t worry, you’re still young. Take care of your body, and you’ll get pregnant before you know it.”

Yang Meirong didn’t want her daughter to be sad, so she often consoled her.

“Yeah, I know Mom, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”

Then, Huo Mian changed into work clothes and helped her mother clean the entire townhouse.

At lunch, Huo Mian had a quick bite with her mother before leaving.

Then, she drove to Xie Juan’s apartment.

Shuai Shuai was discharged a long time ago and ever since Huo Mian found Xie Juan that job, their quality of life had improved significantly.

Xie Juan occasionally made Huo Mian food, like pickled vegetables and marinated eggs, or hand-made items like insoles or socks.

She was extremely grateful for all Huo Mian had done for her and her son…

It was Saturday, Xie Juan and Shuai Shuai were having lunch when Huo Mian arrived.

They were both surprised to see Huo Mian…

“Sister Mian!” Shuai Shuai placed his chopsticks down and ran over to Huo Mian happily, and she rubbed the top of his head and replied, “You’ve gotten taller, Shuai Shuai. How’s school?”

“Pretty good, I got #15 in my class during our last monthly exam. I went up! Last time, I got #20. There are 40 students in our class!” Shuai Shuai immediately told Huo Mian everything, without her even having to ask.

“Good job!” Huo Mian didn’t hold back her praise.

“Dr. Huo, perfect timing, come eat with us!” Xie Juan got up to greet Huo Mian…

“It’s okay, Mrs. Xie, I ate at my mother’s already. I came today to check up on you guys.”

“Thanks to you, we’re doing great. In the past, I never thought we’d be able to live like this.”

Xie Juan was extremely content with what she had…

“What about Ni Yang, have you talked to him recently?”

Upon hearing Ni Yang’s name, Xie Juan shook her head with a complicated expression on her face.

“That’s why I came. You shouldn’t put it off any longer. I’m determined to resolve your conflict…”

“What? How? Will Ni Yang forgive me?” Xie Juan froze.
