My Youth Began With Him

“No,” Huo Mian refused immediately.

“What’s wrong? You don’t want revenge?”

“No, she’s already living a sad life, I don’t want to take advantage of it… Plus, she seems to be behaving recently. After what happened to her mom and younger brother, she seems to be keeping her head down. I don’t want to bully someone who is almost defeated. ”

In the past, Huo Mian may have hated Huo Yanyan, since she found the latter to be stupid and annoying.

However, she no longer had such strong feelings towards her. Sometimes when she saw Yanyan bullied by other girls, she would even lend her a hand.

She wasn’t being magnanimous or kind-hearted, it was simply that in the end, their last names were both ‘Huo’.

Even though she was not Huo Zhenghai’s biological daughter, Huo Mian had known Huo Yanyan from an early age. So even if they had been enemies, there was no need to hold a grudge.

“Alright, fine. You are always so kind…”

Huo Mian didn’t answer, but just quietly continued eating…

“The old man reached out to you recently, right?”

“Yes, but I turned him down.”

“Good girl, there’s not much time left for him anyway.” Huo Siqian smiled proudly.

“So… what about Shen Jiani and Huo Siyi?” Huo Mian was curious.

She heard that after the incident, Huo Zhenghai had placed Shen Jiani on house arrest.

“The two of them ran away…”

“Ran away?”

Huo Siqian nodded. “Yes, they fled with Shen Jiani’s lover, and they’ve already left the city. According to reliable sources, they’re in Australia now.”

“So… what about Huo Yanyan?” Huo Mian was surprised.

“Who cares? Shen Jiani couldn’t even take care of herself. But I have to admit that woman’s one tough cookie. No matter how hard I pushed her, she didn’t take out all her savings. This time, when she fled, she took everything she had left in the safety deposit box at the bank with her, which I think included some money and jewelry, so she definitely did not leave empty-handed. She must have realized that there’s not much benefit in staying with the old man any longer than she has already, so it’d be better to just leave. Maybe she will come back after the old man passes away.”

“That means, Huo Yanyan was abandoned…?” Huo Mian felt a pang of pity for her.

Right now, Huo Yanyan had no one at all that cared about her.

Huo Yanyan’s mother had run away with her lover and her younger brother while her father found a college girl as his sugar baby. Huo Yanyan could barely stay at her own family mansion.

Because right now, the Huo Family was under the complete control of Jiang Hong and Huo Siqian.

“She hasn’t been home in a while. Supposedly she met a guy. A contractor. She’s been fooling around with him for a while and has totally given up on herself,” said Huo Siqian with disdain.

Huo Mian fell completely silent upon hearing this.

Huo Yanyan used to be the center of the world – she could dance and play the piano, and she wore luxury brand outfits all the time.

She was good looking and used to be a famous socialite in her circle. Now, she had fallen into such an awful situation.

Huo Mian empathized with Huo Yanyan, who loved Shen Mingxi but couldn’t be with him. Eventually, in order to avoid Huo Siqian and to leave the Huo Family, she just had to find herself a place to call home.

She might not love that contractor, but at the very least, he was someone she could rely on.

“So… what about her shares of Huo Corporation?”

“Oh, I took them back. At one point, she wanted to try and date the young man from the Shen Family, but she didn’t have clothes to wear. So I gave her 500,000 yuan to buy clothing and jewelry, and she gave the shares to me in return.”

Huo Mian was speechless…

Did Huo Yanyan really sell her shares for just 500,000? That’s really… Huo Mian didn’t know what to say.

“Mian, do you pity her?” Huo Siqian moved over and suddenly got right up in Huo Mian’s face.

His voice was odd and creepy… His eyes were opaque.

“Why should I? Winner takes all, isn’t that the basic rule of survival?” answered Huo Mian after regaining control of her emotions.

After the meal with Huo Mian, Huo Siqian left.

Huo Mian went back to work and didn’t give any further thought about Huo Yanyan’s situation.

– The Su Mansion –

“Hey, old man, why are you back?” As soon as Su Yu entered the house, he saw Grandpa Su sitting there in the living room, sipping tea.

“You little bastard, come here, I have something to tell you.”

“So which socialite is it this time? Can’t you just let me meet them all at the same time….” Su Yu seemed to know his grandpa very well.

“Kid, Mayor Song has a daughter who is about the same age as you, he called me about it last night.”

“Holy crap… are you talking about Song Yishi?” Su Yu was stomping mad.
