“Honey, are you done with work?”

“Not yet, I’m still working over time. It might be another half an hour.”

“Okay, then I’ll pick you up in a bit.”

“Okay, I’ll see you in a bit.”

After she hung up the phone, Huo Mian suddenly thought of something and called Assistant Yang immediately.

“Yes, Young Madam?” Assistant Yang immediately kissed her ass.

“Will all of the company employees be at the thirty-year anniversary celebration?”

“Yes, Young Madam.”

“Oh, cancel the invitations for the employees at the branch company in T City.”

“Uhm…”

“They still haven’t dealt with the accident over there, and there is still a lot of negative press. I’m afraid that it might affect the celebration. I will personally tell President Qin about this, so just let them know.”

“I will, Young Madam.”

After his phone call with Huo Mian, Assistant Yang immediately followed her orders and called the branch company in T City.

“Hello, General Manager Jiang, this is Yang.”

“Go on, Yang…” Jiang Linyue was just trying on dresses at a luxurious brand-name store.

She was preparing to shock the whole crowd with her beauty at the company’s thirty-year-anniversary celebration…

“Uhm… here’s the thing, I just received notice that the negative press surrounding the incident in T City hadn’t been resolved yet, so the company decided not to invite anyone in your branch office to attend the thirty-year-anniversary celebration.”

“What did you just say?”

Jiang Linyue’s heart immediately went cold…

“I’m terribly sorry, I should’ve told you sooner, but I only just received notice… I’m sorry, General Manager Jiang, you and your employees will have to hold on for a bit longer. We’ll have you all back for the year-end employee meeting.”

“Why won’t the president let us attend?”

“Because the accident is still seen as negative press, and the company doesn’t want to risk that.”

“Whose idea was this? Was it President Qin’s?” Jiang Linyue felt incredibly miserable.

Ever since she got here, she had been surrounded with tons of work pressure. Not only did she have to deal with a huge pile of mess every day, she still had to face all sorts of blame and obstruction.

She was also very eager to excel and to attract President Qin’s attention, she had always wanted to come out with exceptional results…

She originally wanted to relax during the thirty-year-anniversary celebration and come back to see President Qin along the way.

However… even this chance was denied…

“It was President Qin’s idea,” Assistant Yang thought that the Young Madam’s idea probably also represented President Qin.

“I don’t believe it, I’m going to ask President Qin myself.”

“Hello? General Manager Jiang… don’t be too impulsive…” However, before Assistant Yang could finish, Jiang Linyue had already hung up the phone.

Qin Chu was driving towards South Side when the branch company called. After a moment’s thought, he put on his earphones and picked up…

“Hello?”

‘President Qin, I’m Jiang Linyue.”

‘Go on.”

“Why did you cancel our invitations for the thirty-year-anniversary celebration? Why won’t you let me go?”

Qin Chu froze for a bit, and then he calmly said, “It was the company’s decision.”

“Even if you were worried that this accident would affect the company’s reputation, then don’t let the others come… I still want to be there personally; I’m a long-time company employee, and don’t want to miss the company’s thirty-year-anniversary celebration.”

“So are you trying to refute the company’s decision?”

“No, I just want to personally ask a favor from President Qin…”

Jiang Linyue’s voice was slightly trembling, as she sounded like she was crying…

“Just follow the original orders regarding this issue. I’m driving right now. That’s all.”

Qin Chu hung up the phone after he spoke…

Jiang Linyue was no longer in any mood to try out dresses, as she sat inside the changing room, covered her face, and cried.

She thought that Huo Mian was the only reason why she wasn’t allowed to come. Her assumptions were true. It really was Huo Mian’s idea.

After Qin Chu ended his call with Jiang Linyue, he immediately called Assistant Yang…

“What’s going on with Jiang Linyue? I don’t recall giving out orders. You’ve grown a pretty big pair of balls these days, did you think you could give out orders using my name?” Qin Chu coldly asked.
