Child of Destiny

Chapter 1268: Being Sensational Once Again

...

Real World

World Gaming Organization Headquarters

Each department of the gaming company was all paying attention to a single thing. All of them were watching a battle between a player taking their Tier 3 Class Promotion Quest and the final boss for that particular quest.

They were all watching a broadcast of Shin doing the final part of his promotion quest as he was the person who was closest to solving the problem that they were currently facing.

The Monitoring Department had emphasized that he was the one who had the highest chance of clearing the promotion quest among all the players taking their respective trials.

Each department had already prepared everything that needed to be done once Shin successfully cleared the promotion quest. Right at the very moment, he cleared the quest, they would do everything they could to put up hype and make sure that all the players would pay more attention to clearing their respective promotion quests instead of doing other things.

The activities of some large organizations within the game and big guilds were deviating from the ʼrightʼ path. This resulted in the current state that they were in. And if they continued doing this, then the storyline that the game was supposed to follow would be messed up.

The main target was the movements of the Pandemonium Descendants. This organization was messing up with the storyline a little too much. They were actively destroying most of the questlines by initiating secret operations that targeted a specific major event of the game.

If they continued with their current pace, then the next major content of the game would be unlocked way sooner than the scheduled time and would destroy a huge number of questlines that were meant to be cleared before that.

They had done a major update just recently, so they could not afford to make another one this soon.

Since the gaming organization could not interfere with the matters of the game directly, they could only hope for the other top players and groups to deal with this problem.

They could only pray for the players on the side of the Righteous Faction to clash against these people from the Evil Faction and somehow win the war to delay the progress of the opposing side.

At this very moment, the only solution that the Department Heads of the World Gaming Organization to solve their current problem was for someone to clear their Tier 3 Class Promotion Quest so that they could create hype that would attract the rest of the players to it.

This would somehow disrupt the progress of the Evil Faction since they could not afford for the players of the Righteous Faction to monopolize the resources of the new continent.

This would force them to divide their attention and send some of their more capable experts to explore the new content of the game, which would also slow down their progress on their current quest.

Having that in mind, all the departments of the World Gaming Organization were paying attention to Shinʼs Class Promotion Quest and praying for his success.

They had already celebrated briefly when they saw Shin completing the first part of the quest successfully. Moreover, his performance impressed everyone, giving them more hope for their current dire situation.

They were also amazed when they saw Shin fighting the final boss without conceding any advantage.

He was performing very well and even surpassed their expectations.

Unfortunately, the more observant ones and the veterans of each department immediately realized a problem. Given Shinʼs current strength and the power of the opposing side, they all understood that Shin could not clear the quest with the current progress.

Shin might be skilled and powerful, but his current self was still far from defeating the Fallen, much less completing the promotion quest.

Some of the department veterans even cursed the Development Department for designing such a disgusting boss. Most of them directed their curses to the head of that department, Troy.

When all the staff of each department saw that Shin suddenly stopped fighting and showed some signs of exiting the trial ground, they could not help but feel disappointed.

Even though they knew that it was pretty much impossible for Shin to clear the entire promotion quest this soon, they still could not help but feel a little hopeful.

They could only shake their heads bitterly and sigh in regret.

But they could still cling to him at the very least. He showed them a very good performance, which gave them more hope.

It was at that moment when the keen-eyed people, who refused to remove their gazes from the virtual screens projected in front of them, noticed something strange.

They saw Shin suddenly pause for a moment before unsheathing his sword all of a sudden. After that, he summoned a pair of swords before gesturing to the Fallen in a provoking manner.

This unexpected change confused some of the department veterans and experts. From what they could see, it was impossible for Shin to clear the quest, so it would be better to log out of the game for a moment and relax before trying again once he came back.

But before they could even come up with an explanation, they saw ʼShinʼ engage the Fallen once again.

And this time, he was the one who was taking the initiative!

What confused them even more was the current style that Shin was currently using. It was completely different from the one that he was showing in the early stages of the promotion quest.

Some might be unfamiliar with this style, but those people, who had been paying attention to Shin since the earlier stages of the game, were very familiar with this style, particularly those people from the Research, Development, and Monitoring Departments.

This was one of the signature styles that Shin was using since the early stages of the game.

But what surprised Troy and Carlos, who had been paying close attention to Shin since those times, was the strange aura that ʼShinʼ currently had.

That overwhelming confidence and terrifying calmness during the battle surprised even them, who ʼknewʼ Shin for a very long time.

They could tell that there was something different with this ʼShinʼ and the one they knew, but they were unsure how to pinpoint the differences.

Regardless, these changes gave everyone a great shock and reignited their hope, especially when ʼShinʼ started suppressing the Fallen to a certain degree.

Everyone started to cheer when they saw the battle was turning ʼin theirʼ favor.

”Yeah! That is right! Beat that that crap!”

”Come on! Come one! You can do it!”

…

As everyone was cheering, the change suddenly occurred, they suddenly saw the Fallen start to show a hint of his true power and send a series of consecutive attacks that scared most of them.

Seeing the perfect angle of the fireballs and water tentacles that covered all the possible escape routes along with the huge sword wave wrapped in rolling flames, the people from each department could not help but be at the edge of their respective seats. Some of them even stood as they watched the attacks fly at ʼShinʼ.

But they suddenly saw something unexpected when they were at the end of their ropes.

When Uno had used the first sword technique that obliterated all the fireballs and water tentacles, as well as the huge sword wave, the members of the World Gaming Organization could not help but feel a sudden chill that ran down their spines.

They even started doubting whether they were watching the same game that they had created.

They were still in the middle of processing what just happened when Uno immediately followed with another sword technique that ended the battle within an instant.

There was an eerie silence within each of the departments of the World Gaming Organization when they saw the Fallenʼs head flying and spinning in the air before falling to the ground with a soft thud.

It took them quite some time to realize what just happened before they started shouting and cheering!

”Hooray!”

”Yeah! F*cking Awesome!”

”Letʼs go! That is one hell of an ending!”

”What a finisher!”

…

While everyone was crazily erupting in celebration, the heads of the departments responsible for spreading the news and creating the hype moved according to the plan.

”Releasing the news! Make an announcement of it immediately!”

”Post the discussed information to the official website! Show everyone that it is not impossible to clear the Promotion Quests!”

”Drop the clues about the mysterious instructors but donʼt directly mention them! Just a simple hint is enough!”

”Add the background details and history of the Racial Major Regions! Make sure to attract as much attention as possible!”

”Announce the list for the Hall of Fame list on our official site. And put the players with the highest in-game reputation on the list!”

”Release the information about the Achiever List of the Hall of Fame first and put the Battle Godʼs name on the very top!”

…

A series of commands were released to the public. Although most of the instructions were not released inside the game, huge banners were still displayed on the official forums and websites, so they immediately attracted a lot of attention.

People, who were idling online immediately noticed them and started spreading the news to their friends and other colleagues.

It did not even take that long for the news to spread in the gaming community. Then it soon reached the ears of the big guilds and powerhouses within the game, which included the Pandemonium Descendants and the dark guilds under the banner of the Corrupted Cult.

But the biggest sensation still came from inside the game, where the world announcement was released.

...

*Ding*

System World Announcement: Congratulations to Player ʼSickariusʼ for clearing the Tier 3 Class Promotion Quest! He will be receiving corresponding reputation points and fame achievements!

System World Announcement: Congratulations to Player ʼSickariusʼ for being the first person to reach Tier 3 of his class. He will be receiving an extra reward for this achievement!

System World Announcement: For being the first player to reach Tier 3, he will be granted the title ʼFirst Masterʼ! He will also be granted a chance to enter the ʼLand of Promise.ʼ

*Ding*

System World Announcement: As the first Tier 3 Player is revealed, the special vehicles for super long-distance transportation are now available!

System World Announcement: Royal and Imperial City grades are now available!

…

The announcements were repeated three times each, making the players unable to ignore them, especially when they rang in the ears of everyone.

Each player could not help but pause what they were doing as they stared blankly at the series of notifications.

At first, they did not immediately react to it as they found the news quite unbelievable. But when they realized what the first three notifications were about, they could not help but become crazy!

Everyone went into an uproar and started spamming at the world chat channel.

”What the heck? Has someone already cleared their Tier 3 Class Promotion Quest? That is insane!”

”What the hell? This is amazing!”

”Sickarius? Why does this name sound familiar?”

”Idiot! That is the Battle God! Sickarius is that Godlike Playerʼs name!”

”Seriously!? It is him again? Heʼs been creating sensational events one after another since the first time he joined the game!”

”Being a tyrannical figure in the Saint Heaven Kingdom is not enough? Now he is spreading his fame worldwide?”

”D*mn! I failed my own Promotion Quest because of this announcement!”

”Yeah, keep on dreaming, mate. You are just level 65. We can see you.”

…

In the meantime, the higher echelons of the respective guilds and organizations put serious thought into this matter.

”Quick! Investigate how he has done it!”

”This must be related to that strange state that he had shown during his battle against the God of Carnage, Hoawin.”

”Investigate what special hidden game mechanic he achieves it, and how he has gotten his hands on it!”

”Contact our people who can contact the people under Hoawin. Tell them that we are going to pay whatever price they ask as long as they disclose the information about the secret method that he has used during his battle against Sickarius.”

Due to this event, the flow of the game immediately changed just like what the people from the World Gaming Organization had expected.
