Child of Destiny

Chapter 847: Lupus, the Ruler of the Snowy Field

...…

After assisting Zero for a moment, Shin quickly shifted his center of gravity to dodge the attacks of the wolves. He also started cutting them down one after another. And immediately after that, he sprinted towards the others to catch up with them.

Arthur was charging ahead and slaughtering the wolves to create a clear path for the group. In the meantime, Shin was covering their rear by killing the wolves that were trying to get near them.

With Arthur in the frontline and Shin at the rear, Cloe and the rest of the group didnʼt need to concern themselves about anything. All they needed to do was to continue moving forward, following Arthurʼs lead.

Just like that, Shin and the others reached the center without much of a problem. And right after arriving, Shin started giving out orders. ”Start organizing our formation!”

”Arielle start setting up the ʼHoly Fieldʼ. The rest of you protect her until she is finished laying out the energy barrier.”

”Siegfried, hold the Alpha Wolf for the time being and buy them enough time. I will join you once I am done clearing the area,” he added before activating one of the signature skills of the ʼEmperor of the Night ʼ.

ʼPhantom Swordsman Skill: Phantom Danceʼ

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Shin released nine phantoms and scattered them in different directions. They created a circular formation around the group, seemingly protecting them.

He then started cutting down the wolves that were trying to get near the group. He kept switching places with his phantoms whenever a wolf would try to get past them.

”I know it already!” shouted Arthur in a complaining tone before accelerating forward and engaging in an intense melee battle with the Alpha Wolf.

The rest of the group was also not idle. They quickly followed the instructions given to them and swiftly get in position.

S.Tigris positioned himself in front of the group to act as an extra layer for defense if ever the Alpha Wolf managed to break free from Arthur and suddenly started charging at them. Behind him, Blank Hand kept on waving his hand as he gave every member of the group a series of buffs.

Ara and Alucard were positioned at the left and right of the rest and provided cover to Shin. Their firepower might not be as powerful as the three mages of the group, but each of their attacks was lethal and perfectly hit the vitals of the wolves.

Then there was Seven who was constantly warding off the wolves away from the group. He was moving in circles and appearing in different places like a ghost similar to what Shin was doing.

On the other hand, the three mages, Charlotte, Ravier, and Ember, formed a triangular formation around Cloe as she quickly Cloe quickly kneel on the ground and started praying. They kept firing different kinds of spells at the wolves that were trying to get near them.

But despite their powerful attacks, Shin and the others didnʼt kill any wolves purposely. They only dealt enough damage to incapacitate those wolves, making sure that they would not be able to move for a certain period.

Shinʼs attack was the most effective since the power of the Brilliant Sun and Abyssal Moon had special effects that made the healing abilities of the wolves useless.

After a few moments, the holy powers within Cloe started to grow for every verse of the prayer she chanted. The surrounding started to carry a holy aura because of her prayers, specks of golden lights were even starting to appear in the air.

This was their trump card for this operation.

Fighting the Alpha Wolf was going to be troublesome if they needed to constantly keep an eye on their surroundings.

Trapped in the middle of a wolf army, their group would need to endure a continuous attack from every direction. And if they continuously only kill the wolves that were trying to harass them, then the remaining wolves would constantly get stronger.

Taking this into account, Shin came up with a plan. They needed to somehow isolate the Alpha Wolf from the rest of its minions while they were trying to take it down.

Doing it was not going to be easy, especially when they didnʼt have any engineers in their group that could build a sturdy barrier with their special tools and gadgets.

Fortunately, Cloe had a special skill that could create a certain field that would help them isolate the Alpha Wolf. The only problem was it needed a very long time to be set up. And she would be very vulnerable to any attack when setting it up.

That was more than enough for the group than fighting a much more troublesome battle where they needed to constantly worry about the wolves in the surrounding.

The sudden change in the atmosphere was immediately noticed by the Alpha Wolf. It sensed a dangerous being that could threaten its existence.

Casting its gaze towards the direction where the threat was coming from, it saw a priestess kneeling on the ground with her hands clasped together, praying. There was an overwhelming quantity of holy powers coming from her body.

Awoo~!

Sensing the threat coming from Cloe, the Alpha Wolf attempted to break away from Arthur and start to run towards her.

”Hey! Hey! Donʼt you dare forget about me?” Arthur immediately anticipated its plan, so he quickly positioned himself in front of the Alpha Wolf and prevented it from going anywhere.

The truth was he, himself, knew that it was impossible to pin this Alpha Wolf in place alone. Not only it was a King Class Boss Monster, but it also had a powerful bloodline. Might be called ʼLesser Fenrirʼ, but it was still the bloodline of one of the strongest being in the game.

Based on the legends within the game, a Fenrir had the ability to swallow the moon and possessed a strength that could threaten even the gods. It was not any weaker compared to Great Giants, Ancient Dragons, and Primordial Beasts of the distant era.

Given this simple background, it was normal for its descendants to have a similar level of strength if they reached adulthood.

This was the reason why Arthur was having a hard time pinning this powerful wolf in place. He even sacrificed the high damage output that his ʼLava Walkerʼ form had and switched to his ʼTide Bringerʼ form since it had a move survival ability than the previous one.

Moreover, his water clone was greatly helping him since it could make up for the openings that he failed to cover.

Regardless, Arthur couldnʼt let his guard down even for a moment. Not only did this King Class Boss hand an immense strength, but it also had a very fast speed that was hard to deal with.

Cloe needed three whole minutes to finish setting up the holy field. It was definitely not short since a lot of things could happen in that period.

Arthur was only fighting this Alpha Wolf for a few seconds yet he felt he was stacked with it for an entire hour already. He couldnʼt imagine the suffering that he was going to experience in those three minutes.

He really wanted to use the Reality Manifestation right now and teach this troublesome ʼdogʼ a lesson that it would never forget. Unfortunately, he also knew the consequences that could possibly happen if he exhausted himself before they could take down this particular King Class Boss.

”Its strength and speed are still manageable. The problem is the hidden abilities that are not shown yet,” muttered Arthur as he looked at the information that the Alpha Wolf had.

---------------------

A named and titled monster, this two alone were enough for Arthur to have a solemn expression.

He could ignore the astonishing amount of health bar since it could be chunk down as long as they had steady damage, and they didnʼt lack any of that.

But a named monster with a title was much stronger than ordinary ones, much less it was a King Class Boss Monster. Its power and ability should be very strong, especially when it had a special bloodline.

Arthur already experienced the strength of a monster that almost had all of that. The cyclops that they encountered in the underground dungeon, that one was even comparable to an Emperor Rank Monster.

But from what Shiella had told them, that monster was slightly weakened, though it also had the Berserk Ability that could absorb the energy from the dead.

But during that time, Shiella showcased an overwhelming power. She actually had a critical role during that battle since aside from assisting them during that time, she was also dealing a lot of damage to that cyclops.

Moreover, Arthur could also tell that this wolf was much stronger than that cyclops despite being a rank lower than it. It was mainly because this cunning wolf was seemingly hiding its true form.

Dragons were said to be able to see the truth. They could see through the souls, nature, and everything.

Arthur might not be at the level where he could fully utilize that power. But as a Dragonkin, he could at least feel the real nature of every monster that he encountered. And right now, he could sense that this giant wolf in front of him had two of them. One had an overwhelming force while the other was being suppressed.

Even if he was not that smart, he could at least tell that this was related to the ʼcursed beingʼ indicated in its information panel.

He pursed his lips for a moment before muttering. ”Well, what is the point of wracking my brains about it when Shin can do the thinking for me?”

”Anyway, all of it still falls on one thing, and that is to beat this dog in submission,” he added before getting ready for another round of battle.
