Chapter 238: Battling an NPC on Equal Grounds

...

The stun of the ʼDestructive Slashʼ that Shin had thrown to the fake king, was supposedly had a 3-5 seconds stun duration. But that was cut down to 2 seconds since he was against a tough opponent, and an NPC that had a strong paralysis resistance at that.

And the moment that the stun of that skill wore off, the fake king immediately took a couple of steps backwards before quickly stepping forward once again while throwing a powerful slash at Shin.

The flow of movements of the fake king was quite quick and smooth, but Shin was able to respond on that almost instantly. And the most surprising in that was the latter didnʼt even use any skill to a skill to dodge; he just moved sideways to barely avoid the sword of his opponent.

And after dodging that attack, Shin suddenly thrust the [Piercing Thorn] on his left hand for another time together with a great speed.

Swoosh!

When the fake king saw that, he immediately retracked his sword before swinging it at the incoming rapier of his opponent. But before the two swords collided with each other, Shin suddenly flicked his left wrist and made his rapier to wave like a whip before hitting the sword of the fake king and redirecting its trajectory.

Clang!

Then Shin quickly used the momentum of that strike to turn his body around while throwing a horizontal slash with [Yamato] on his other hand, which was currently blazing with black flames.

ʼSlayer Skill: Solar Cutʼ

The fake king quickly hopped backwards to dodge that attack. And after avoiding the blade of Shinʼs sword, the fake king immediately moved forward once again so that he could throw a counterattack. But before he could swing his sword, Shin suddenly swung the [Yamato] for another time and towards the opposite direction.

The fake king was forced to dodge once again when he saw that sight. Even though that the king had a much higher stats than Shin, that doesnʼt mean he could just blindly receive all of the attacks that were coming from Shin.

Whatʼs more, he couldnʼt understand why his body kept dodging Shinʼs attack unconsciously. He kept having a bad feeling about getting hit by any of Shinʼs swords. It was as if his body grew some fear from Shinʼs sword.

At first, the fake king didnʼt notice it. But as their battle progress a little more, he suddenly realized that he kept on dodging Shinʼs attacks more than he block. Moreover, he couldnʼt even land a single hit on Shinʼs body. And as if rubbing some salt on his wound, Shin was dodging his attacks with a very small margin.

And when the fake king realized that, he suddenly became enraged as he felt that Shin was mocking him by barely dodging his attack every single time.

”You dare to underestimate me?!” said by the fake King before stomping his right foot on the ground with a very strong manner.

Boom!

On the very next instant that he did that, a powerful shockwave was sent in all direction. Shin was even sent sliding backwards after getting his by that force. Then the fake king immediately rushed towards his opponentʼs direction before leaping on the air while throwing a downward slash at the latter.

Shin planned to dodge the attack just like what he was doing earlier, but that was also when he suddenly discovered that he couldnʼt more away from his spot as his feet were somewhat being rooted on the ground by some unknown force.

And at this point, he suddenly recalled his first encounter with Simba inside the game. His current predicament was somewhat similar on that time. The only difference was the attack of his current opponent seemed to be a little stronger than what Simba had thrown at that time.

Fortunately, he could still move his arms at this point without having any kind of problem while his skills were still accessible for him.

And that first thing that he did was to release the ʼConviction Formʼ of the ʼMondiʼs Styleʼ of his sheath before changing its rapier form into a semitransparent longsword.

ʼLegacy Skill: Mondiʼs Style: Meteor Formʼ

Then that longsword suddenly released some additional energies that rush towards his entire body and gave him additional strength.

At the same time, Shin inhaled deeply to regulate his air-breathing while he unconsciously gathered a pair of opposing elemental mana on each of his sword. And on the very next moment, those swords simultaneously released some opposing powers.

The [Snowstorm Edge] on his left hand was releasing as a chilling silver glow while the [Yamato] on his other hand was currently blazing with a fierce black flame.

ʼEpic Combat Technique: Eclipse Wieldingʼ

And immediately after that, Shin quickly crossed the swords over his head and lowered his hips as he planned to block the incoming downward slash!

Clang!

Bang!

Crack!

The loud metallic sound that was created by the collision of their swords, was immediately followed by a very powerful explosive sound. It was also due to the collision of the offensive force hidden behind the attack of the fake king and the defensive force laying in counter from Shinʼs defensive stance.

And in addition to that powerful explosion, a pair of spiderweb cracks extended outwards, starting from the ground beneath Shinʼs feet.

Naturally, Shin had gotten some damage from that attack. But it seemed that he didnʼt care. It was because he boldly made his next move immediately after.

Then three different auras were released from his body almost at the same time. Two were meant to suppress his opponent with the other one was to strengthen himself.

ʼEquipment Skill (Headgear: Rulerʼs Dignity): Rulerʼs Authorityʼ

ʼGrim Reaper Skills (Tier 2): Monochrome Fieldʼ

ʼEquipment Skill (Weapon-main: Yamato): Nephilimʼs Ascentʼ

Boom!

And since Shin released those powers too suddenly, the fake king was completely gotten off-guard and made it resulted to reduce his battle prowess into a considerable amount. And even if the fake king managed to negate some of its effects, his stats was still lowered at the level where the current Shin could battle him on equal grounds.

Then Shin put a little more force on his swords before forcing his arms upwards to push the fake king backwards.

Shin didnʼt wait for long at this point and rush forward to chase after that fake king. And before the latter could even land on the ground, the former was already upon the fake king and in the motion of brandishing the swords on each of his hands.

Naturally, the fake king would not let Shin to continue at dictating the flow of the battle. That was why he quickly did a back-flip in the air while simultaneously swinging his sword at the incoming swords.

Clang! Clang!

Shinʼs dash was suddenly halted due to that strike and that gave the fake king to land on his feet without much of problem.

And after the brief moment of their pause, the two of them simultaneously rush at each other with having similar thoughts in minds; and that was to cut their opponents using their swords.

Given that, another intense melee exchange was started between these two.
