I Just Want to Cultivate Quietly and Farm

Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Outer Sect Assessment (Part 2)

”Clang!” sounded.

Fan Shaoyang was startled, quickly swung his sword to block the controlled sword attack coming at him. The opponent’s Sword Control Technique was quite skillful, and the Flying Sword moved fast and swiftly; he almost couldn’t react.

The Profound Iron Sword was struck flying. Li Mu’s Sword Control Technique hand gesture changed again, remotely controlling the Profound Iron Sword to continue attacking.

The Profound Iron Sword drew an arc in mid-air, attacking Fan Shaoyang from another angle...

Fan Shaoyang hurriedly withdrew, swung his sword to once again strike the Profound Iron Sword away.

However, before Fan Shaoyang could change his moves to launch an attack on Li Mu, the Profound Iron Sword rapidly regained its stance in the air and, in the blink of an eye, shot towards him, attacking from yet another direction.

Fan Shaoyang, helpless, could only swing his sword to defend again.

”Clang, clang, clang...” The sound of sword clashes continued incessantly.

Fan Shaoyang wielded the Spirit Sword, sometimes chopping, sometimes slashing, sometimes parrying, sometimes cutting... constantly neutralizing the attacks of the Profound Iron Sword, leaving him no opportunity to retaliate against Li Mu, the sword controller.

Every time Fan Shaoyang struck the Profound Iron Sword away, it quickly returned to attack him, as persistent as sticky candy. The Profound Iron Sword clung to him, attacking continuously around him; sometimes from the left, sometimes the right, sometimes from above, sometimes below, leaving him unable to break free for a long time!

”Wow! The number 5 ring master is amazing, defending airtight!”

”Is the number 5 ring master deliberately holding back? Why isn’t he counterattacking yet?”

”Do you think he doesn’t want to? He’s unable to counterattack, trapped by the opponent’s Sword Control Technique!”

”So impressive! This Sword Control Technique is so flexible, can actually be operated like this!”

...

On stage, the gazes of all servant disciples were attracted by this exciting fight, discussing it with surprise, never expecting the battle to proceed in this manner.

”Senior brother, I admit defeat!”

Just as everyone was eagerly anticipating the upcoming changes in this thrilling battle, Li Mu carefully timed and suddenly recalled the Profound Iron Sword, bowed in salute to Fan Shaoyang, and declared surrender.

”How come? The fight isn’t over yet!” Fan Shaoyang frowned, looking displeased at Li Mu.

Fan Shaoyang had been in a passive defensive position throughout the contest, with no chance to strike back; yet, he won, unexpectedly, and strangely, leaving him indignant.

”Senior brother, your sword skills are remarkable. I cannot breach your defense, however, this Sword Control Technique drains a lot of Divine Sense, I couldn’t keep up any longer.” Li Mu apologized, glancing towards the examination disciples below the stage.

”Zhao Huai Ren, persisted for 32 breaths, passed the examination. Liao Yanchong, number 5 ring, get ready to go on stage!” The examination disciple looked at Li Mu with a profound meaning and then announced.

Li Mu hurriedly descended from the stage and went to the skill examination area with the other servant disciples who had passed the examination.

Li Mu enrolled as a Spirit Plant Cultivator, so he headed to the Spirit Plant Cultivator skill examination area.

”Elder Zhong, that kid’s Sword Control Technique is quite skilled! He’s a good combat prospect, should we recruit him to the Hunting Team?” An Outer Disciple looked at Li Mu’s back and signaled to the Foundation Establishment Elder.

”Hmm! After the examination ends, approach him, see if he’s willing to join.” Zhong Hong Dao nodded in agreement.

The battle just now indeed brightened Zhong Hong Dao’s eyes. However, thinking of the kid’s talent being only a Five Elements Lower-Grade Spirit Root, he wasn’t too optimistic anymore, and continued to focus on the battles on the other five rings.

...

In the Spirit Plant Cultivator skill examination area, a dark-skinned, farmer-like examination disciple was frowning while watching Li Mu, puzzled about how he became a Spirit Plant Cultivator.

”You only learned the Clear Wind Rain Summoning Skill? Didn’t learn Withering and Flourishing Technique? How do you usually weed then?” The Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner looked at Li Mu questioningly.

”Generally, I go down to the field and manually clear them with a hoe.” Li Mu replied awkwardly.

”Alright! Perform the Clear Wind Rain Summoning Skill first!” The Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner sighed helplessly and instructed.

Unlike the cultivation techniques studied in other professions, the Spirit Plant Cultivator requires minimal skills, with the lowest examination requirements, as this occupation has the least Outer Disciples. Even without learning Withering and Flourishing Technique, being skilled in farm work is acceptable. The main skill examined is the Clear Wind Rain Summoning Skill, for watering spirit plants with Spirit Rain.

”Senior brother, what’s the range should the Spirit Rain cover?” Li Mu asked sheepishly, looking at the Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner.

The Spirit Plant Cultivator examination area was deserted, with few attending the examination. Without a reference model, Li Mu was unsure how to proceed.

”Just do it the way you water the fields with the Clear Wind Rain Summoning Skill normally. Do I have to teach you this too?” The Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner gave Li Mu a glare and said annoyed.

”Okay! I understand!” Li Mu nodded, thought for a bit, and decided to reduce his mana output by fifty percent. He adeptly performed the technique for the Clear Wind Rain Summoning Skill, gathering Spiritual Power, and released it towards the horizon.

In the next moment, a strong wind suddenly arose above the spiritual field in the examination area, calling forth a cloudburst, which rapidly gathered, and before long, bean-sized raindrops pelted down in a heavy downpour.

”Wow! Why is it suddenly raining so heavily?”

”The Talisman Paper is all soaked!”

”It’s the Spirit Rain summoned from the Spirit Plant Cultivator examination area, damn! Why did it rain on our side too?”

...

In the adjacent examination area, other disciples, who were in assessment, were drenched like wet chickens by this unexpected rain, resulting in widespread curses.

About two hundred breaths later, this unexpected shower sparsely tapered off, leaving the acre of spiritual field in the examination area muddy and wet, and the spirit plants sprinkled with water beads full of Spiritual Qi.

The Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner watched Li Mu, stunned by the amount and duration of the Spirit Rain.

”Senior brother, is it alright now? Did I pass the examination?” Li Mu asked, looking at the dazed Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner.

”Passed, passed! However, if you want to continue as a Spirit Plant Cultivator, it’s best to learn the Withering and Flourishing Technique, Spirit Transformation Technique, Seedling Cultivation Technique, and Soil Testing Technique for controlling the fertility of the spiritual field. To be a competent Spirit Plant Cultivator, you need to learn many things!” The Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner advised, looking at Li Mu.

”Thank you for the guidance, senior brother. No one taught me these Spirit Plant Techniques, I had no idea!” Li Mu gratefully thanked the Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner.

”Hmm, after you pass the Outer Disciple examination, these Cultivation Techniques can be learned in the Sect’s Dharma Transmission Hall. Take your Token, go to the next stage of the examination!” The Spirit Plant Cultivator examiner returned the Token to Li Mu, signaling him to proceed.

”Thank you, senior brother!” Li Mu took the Token, expressing gratitude once more.

Holding the Token, Li Mu proceeded to the third checkpoint of Quest for Insight, handing the Token to the examination disciple guarding the Array, and walked directly into the Array.

The Level 5 Array, allowed Li Mu to instantly understand the operating principles of this Illusion Array, coupled with Stunned Incense, which induced illusion in the mind, creating dream-like effects.

Li Mu didn’t resist, suppressing his Divine Soul, starting to accept the examination of the Illusion Array.
