My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger

Chapter 1007: Chapter 1009: The First Coming

Seras did not know how to react.

A demon lord had just asked her for help.

She stood frozen for a moment, staring at Paimon as if the words had not truly reached her.

”No. I won’t. You are the enemy,” Seras replied. Her fingers tightened around the hilt of her sword. How could she ever work with a demon?

Paimon ground her teeth in frustration.

”We cannot stop this alone. If those Outsiders break free, this world is finished. It will not matter if you are human, elf, beast kin, or demon. We will all walk the same path to ruin.”

Seras hesitated. Her gaze drifted without her noticing and fell on Damon, standing among the ruins below, sword in hand, staring up at the entity in the sky.

”I won’t help you,” she said at last. ”But if you happen to be fighting my enemy, then it cannot be helped. No one touches my people.”

With a thunderous boom, she vanished.

The air around her collapsed into white light from the sheer speed of her movement as she shot toward Ittorath. Her blade cut through the air in a clean arc, but it passed through his body as though he were nothing but smoke.

Paimon appeared beside her in an instant.

”He is a metaphysical life form. Physical attacks will not work. Focus on the coil. Destroy it if you must,” Paimon shouted over the chaos.

Space tore open across the sky. From horizon to horizon, the reflection of a vast prison appeared, hanging over the world like a second reality. Within it, chained figures strained against their bindings, cheering with anticipation.

Far away at sea, aboard a warship, the Grand Duke stared at the fractured sky. Beside him, the Emperor bit down hard on his lip.

”We have run out of time. We still have not found the Tomb of Lesser Gods.”

The Grand Duke exhaled slowly.

”Then we fight instead.”

He rose into the air and shot toward the demon continent. The Emperor followed. They were not alone. Across the world, every being who had reached the seventh class advancement rose into the sky. Trails of light streaked across the heavens like comets racing toward the same destination.

On the demon continent, several demon lords had already been moving toward the disturbance. They arrived to find chaos unfolding. Paimon and Seras were desperately attacking Ittorath, who remained behind a barrier, chanting without pause.

More demon lords rose into the sky from distant lands and rushed toward the battlefield.

In that moment, anyone with enough power understood the truth.

The war between goddess races and demon races no longer mattered.

Only one thing did.

Stopping the Outsiders from breaking free..

Seras glanced around as two demon lords arrived in streaks of dark light. They had to be the reinforcements Paimon had called earlier. For a brief moment, Seras tensed, afraid they would turn on her.

Paimon’s voice cut through the chaos.

”Stop that thing now. We have to hurry.”

The demon lords tore their gazes away from Seras and charged at Ittorath without hesitation. Flames and beams of light filled the sky as their attacks struck the barrier. Each impact sent fractures racing across its surface like cracks in glass.

Below, Damon grabbed Wendy and forced her down, shielding her with his body as the battlefield above descended into something far beyond them.

More lights began to appear at the horizon.

Demon lords came first. Damon felt his grandfather’s aura before he saw him. Then the Emperor. Then the Elf Kings. One after another, figures of immense power arrived, filling the sky until it looked like a storm of stars had descended upon the temple.

When his grandfather arrived, his eyes briefly found Damon.

Before he could say a word, a white flash erupted nearby and a demon lord snarled.

”Damian Brightwater.”

The Grand Duke frowned, then scoffed.

”Adramelech. I see your seat is filled once more.”

The tension between them was sharp enough to cut, but Paimon intervened immediately.

”Enough. It does not matter right now. Stop that creature.”

They looked at each other for a long second, then turned away. They were not the only old enemies present. Many of them here had histories written in blood.

Flashes of light bombarded the barrier. Each strike made Ittorath’s form flicker and distort.

He cursed in fury.

”Damn you insects of the lower realm. If I were at my full power, you would be nothing.”

The barrier finally shattered.

The instant it fell, Paimon hurled a sealing mark at the Ouroboros Coil. The artifact glowed and began to dim as its power was suppressed. Ittorath was assaulted from every direction by spells, beams, and divine strikes.

Yet he smiled.

His spell was already complete.

With the last of the coil’s remaining power, he hurled it toward the rift.

”I call you, Morticai.”

Inside the reflected prison, something stirred.

A seal broke.

An aura vaster than the heavens poured into the world. Everyone froze. That presence felt capable of crushing galaxies and snuffing out stars.

Flames erupted.

A massive flaming bird burst through the barrier. The world itself reacted, shackling the being with invisible laws and forcing its power down to the seventh class.

Even restrained, it was overwhelming.

A phoenix roared across the sky of Aetherus.

Inside the prison, an old man in star-covered wizard robes screamed and waved his arms wildly.

”Pick me. Pick me next. You need a wizard. You absolutely need a wizard.”

Ittorath sighed. He only had enough power left for two more.

”I call you, Orbitus. Great wizard.”

The old man cackled as the seal shattered around him. The laws of magic flowed visibly in the air as a staff formed in his hand. He emerged laughing madly and landed atop the phoenix’s back as the world suppressed his power.

Then Ittorath looked at the remaining figures. Many pointed at themselves, eager.

Only one did not move.

A cultivator stood calmly, watching.

Ittorath sneered. They had already made a deal long ago.

”For my last summon, I call upon you, Zhang Dafei.”

A vast spiritual aura spread across the sky. Images of dragons and phoenixes manifested in the air as a robed man stepped forward, standing on a flying sword.

He smiled slightly.

”Many thanks, fellow daoist.”
