Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1386: Chapter 449: Accelerated Fission, Military Power Transition, Soldiers’ Remonstrance and Mutiny (Part 3)

The past allocation rules of Chui Mountain had the Lord and the Army Chief each leading ten percent for free distribution; the remaining eighty percent was divided with forty percent to the military; another twenty percent was divided between the Duan Family and the Mu Family; and the final twenty percent was sold externally by the merchant guilds.

Of course, what they referred to as allocation was actually just purchasing indicators, not freely given, apart from the free ten percent allocation given to Lord Duan Hong and Army Chief Mu Longhe, everyone else had to spend silver to buy it.

Speaking of this, one cannot overlook Master Mu Longhe’s generosity.

Mu Longhe, with Xianyang Level cultivation, did not require such Dan Medicine, so logically, he should have handed it directly to the Mu Family disciples as Duan Hong did.

But Mu Longhe did not; every year, he would divide his ten percent share equally among the Mu, Zhu, Helian, and Qiu families. This also showed that Master Mu Longhe treated his three direct disciples like sons, which is why the Mu Family always maintained greater influence than the Duan Family within the military.

Not only that, but even the one share originally monopolized by the Mu Family, Master Mu Longhe also decided to let the Zhu, Helian, and Qiu families participate in its distribution. Due to this matter, the Mu Family disciples had quite a few conflicts with the other three clans’ disciples in the early years, but they were all suppressed by Master in the end.

Of course, that was in the past.

The year before last, when Mu Longhe had an incident, Lord Duan Hong changed the former rules, allocating two tenths of the Dragon Carp Pills and three other kinds of Dan Medicine purchased annually from the Three Towns directly to the Lord, while the remaining eighty percent were all sold externally by the merchant guilds to the public in the Town, allowing free trade.

This sounds reasonable, as it promotes free competition where those with money can buy.

But in reality, it doesn’t work that way at all.

After all, the master of Chui Mountain is still the Duan Family. The entire town’s silver mine is controlled by the Duan Family. Although the Mu Family has great influence within the military, the purse strings are always in the hands of the Duan Family. This alone determines that in terms of financial resources, the Mu Family cannot compete with the Duan Family.

The year before last, the Dan Medicine share was a struggle for the Mu Family faction, relying on silver reserves accumulated over the years to compete with the Duan Family and reclaim a portion; last year, they were thoroughly defeated, with the entire Mu Family faction obtaining less than ten percent of the Dan Medicine allocation.

Over the past two years, a large number of Mu Family faction members have been squeezed out of the military and political institutions of the Town, and silver income is decreasing, undoubtedly adding insult to injury. This year’s Dan Medicine share is almost not even worth viewing; let alone ten percent, they probably can’t even grab five percent.

This is the reason for Father Helian Shan’s stagnation in strength.

The entire Mu Family faction cannot secure a Dan Medicine allocation; where would Father obtain Dan Medicine for cultivation?

It’s not just Father; Helian Ba himself is also at Peak Cold Resistance Cultivation, with his own strength stagnating at 23 ranks, also a victim, yet compared to himself, he worries more for his Father.

Helian Shan, nearly eighty years old, is entering a decline phase in vitality and blood, if his strength stops improving, the decline will accelerate. As a son, he naturally does not want his Father to enter the decline phase so early.

”What? Seeing your father’s vitality waning, are you distressed?”

Knowing his son well, as soon as his son entered the room and looked at him with such an expression, Helian Shan immediately guessed what he was thinking, feeling gratified, yet couldn’t help but tease.

Helian Ba, unlike his father’s straightforward personality, immediately showed a heavy expression upon hearing this, first nodding, then remembering to discuss serious business, he leaned forward and said in a low voice: ”Father, I have already had the two hundred brothers in the Three Armies Scout Camp tested separately, and there are no issues!”

”The Three Armies are our Mu Family’s direct line, being suppressed too fiercely in recent years with such scarce resource supply, having this kind of sentiment is normal.”

Hearing his son’s words, although Helian Shan’s expression turned slightly serious, he did not show much surprise, clearly having anticipated it long ago.

Helian Ba’s eyes slightly narrowed at the remark and continued to ask quietly: ”Are Master Uncle and Master’s brothers prepared over there?”

Aside from his three disciples, Mu Longhe has two more sons, the five are ranked by age respectively: Mu Qinghe, Zhu Ziying, Helian Shan, Qiu Sanming, and Mu Qingyu. Helian Shan ranks third, so in seniority, Helian Ba would refer to the other four as Master Uncle and Master’s brothers.

”They have been prepared long ago...”

Helian Shan paused after answering, then continued: ”Just after nightfall, Duan Hong removed your Master Uncle from the position of Commander of the Third Army of the Yellow Armor Army. Guess who the new Commander is?”

Has Master Uncle Mu Qinghe been removed from the Commander position of the Third Army?

Hearing this from his father, Helian Ba immediately showed a shocked expression; this being the last Commander position of the Mu Family faction in the army, its removal equates to completely purging the Mu Family from the Chui Mountain Military.

Who is the new Commander?

Helian Ba thought for a moment, then seeing the teasing in his father’s eyes, he immediately realized something and said incredulously: ”Could it be Duan Ming?”

Helian Shan nodded confirming his guess, causing Helian Ba’s eyes to fill with shock. His expression remained frozen for over ten breaths before he recovered, shaking his head repeatedly with a powerless demeanor, as if he didn’t even wish to say more.

But after a moment, he couldn’t help but speak up:

”The Duan Family truly has no one to use!

Duan Sheng, Duan Yang, Duan Chen, these three have barely just reached 30 ranks in strength and are being forcefully pushed into Deputy Army Chief positions, causing an uproar within the army, already making Duan Hong a public enemy;
