Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 781: Chapter 311: Expulsion and Unease, an Overzealous Xia Chuan (2)

Xia Hong’s eldest daughter, Xia Ning, couldn’t help but speak: ”Originally Uncle Yue and Uncle Song, Uncle Cheng’s families were locked up with us. I heard that last night, Uncle Yue and the others were seriously injured, and the Golden Armored Soldiers just took them away, saying they were to take care of Uncle Yue and the others...”

”Yes, it was truly worrying us to death; fortunately you are alright at home!”

Upon hearing the words of his daughter and wife, Xia Hong was momentarily stunned, then turned to meet the gaze of Meng Ying and Sun Yan, and a flicker of complexity passed through their eyes simultaneously.

When Xia Ning mentioned Uncle Yue and the others, she was certainly referring to Yue Qian, Cheng Guang, and Song Kang.

The people locked in the room didn’t know, but they were well aware that Yue Qian and the others were gravely injured because of the attempted assassination of Xia Hong.

Who could have expected that Great Xia, instead of punishing the families of Yue Qian and the others, even took them away to care for the three?

”Alright, don’t worry anymore. You all go and rest first.”

Meng Ying was the first to comfort the families, then gestured for them to leave, and Xia Hong and Sun Yan also instructed their families to withdraw.

Seeing that the three wanted to talk about something, a crowd of people immediately retreated.

The three sat on the chairs, exchanged glances for a moment, but remained silent.

”Leader’s assassination attempt failed, that’s already certain. Are we just going to change allegiance directly and turn to Great Xia?”

Finally, Sun Yan opened his mouth to break the silent atmosphere.

Meng Ying smiled bitterly: ”What else can we do? Our wives and children are all here, and they’ve never been troubled from start to finish, clearly aiming to recruit us.”

Sun Yan seemed to have a slightly different opinion, hesitated, then said: ”Isn’t this too much of a betrayal to the Old Leader?”

At the mention of the Old Leader, Xia Hong and Meng Ying’s faces immediately revealed a few traces of guilt.

The three of them, along with Yue Qian, Song Kang, Cheng Guang, Zhou Yuan, and He Tu who died at Yangyuan Peak, eight people altogether, are the renowned Longshan Eight Great Vajra, representing Long Mountain’s non-native clan.

Non-native doesn’t mean disloyalty to the Li Family.

The current scale of Long Mountain is inseparable from their unwavering loyalty to the Li Family.

To be honest, it’s not so much loyalty to the Li Family as it is loyalty to Li Tianhua.

It’s fair to say, without Li Tianhua’s nurturing, there would be no them.

Despite being of non-native clan, some Li Family members were quite rejecting them, but Li Tiancheng and Li Xuanling were absolutely wholehearted to them.

Compared to Yue Qian, Song Kang, and Cheng Guang, the three felt ashamed for surrendering without guts to Great Xia, and naturally added to the guilt towards the old Leader who wholeheartedly nurtured them back then.

Meng Ying took a deep breath, as if having made a decision, stood up immediately and spoke: ”We cannot just surrender like this. The old Leader advised me when leaving Long Mountain to assist the young masters with all my might. Now that Long Mountain has fallen, I may be powerless to reverse it, but I must preserve the young masters no matter what, to prevent the old leader’s bloodline from being extinguished.”

Upon hearing those words, Sun Yan and Xia Hong’s expressions became dignified, and they nodded immediately.

”That’s right, in life, when grass and trees wither in autumn, without the old Leader’s hard cultivation back then, not to mention reaching Cold Resistance Level, whether I could survive until today is still unknown. If we do nothing, we would have no face to meet him after death. Later on we will ask Leader Xia to ensure he preserves the young masters’ lives, even at the cost of the remaining decades of our lives, as a token of filial gratitude to the old Leader.”

Hearing Xia Hong’s words, Sun Yan pondered for a while and continued: ”It’s not just us, there are many loyal to the Leader. Great Xia captured Long Mountain, they will undoubtedly call everyone together to declare their sovereignty after night falls. At that time, we’ll gather all willing to stand up and jointly petition. From Leader Xia’s willingness to treat our families with courtesy, it’s obvious he’s not a brutal person. If he wants us to integrate peacefully into Great Xia, he will surely agree.”

Sun Yan’s suggestion made Meng Ying and Xia Hong’s eyes light up.

Indeed, if enough people petition, Xia Hong would have to consider.

But doing so clearly has some implication of threatening with numbers.

Despite being somewhat confident, they were ultimately uncertain about Xia Hong’s temperament, unsure of the consequences, and couldn’t help feeling a bit uneasy.

”Why hesitate, after all, death is all there is. At worst, we readily accept our fate, just asking Leader Xia to spare our families.”

”Exactly, to repay the old Leader’s kindness, I’m willing to take on this risk.”

”Let’s do it, regardless of the consequences!”

The three finally resolved to proceed with it.

They didn’t notice that among the anxious-faced families in the room, Meng Tian who spoke just now had been listening intently and, after hearing the final words of the three, immediately moved towards the door.

.........

Second Year of Great Xia, July 7th.

Half an hour before nightfall, Xia Chuan, who was supposed to come with the army, surprisingly arrived alone in advance.

”Big brother, are you alright?”

As soon as Xia Chuan entered the Long Mountain base, he hurried to the top floor of the main building.

Seeing Xia Hong with bandages on his body and a somewhat pale complexion, his expression became instantly tense as he inquired about his wellbeing.

”It’s no big deal, but you, you also suffered serious injuries in the Beehive, why did you come alone ahead of time?”

Xia Hong’s expression was peculiar; he indeed had four knife wounds on his left arm, chest, back, and right waist, but they were not deep, only flesh wounds. The sound of breaking bones during last night’s stab was intentionally caused by him to lure Li Xuanling and others.
