Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

80: Chapter 80: Outsmarting the Frost Wolf Pack 80: Chapter 80: Outsmarting the Frost Wolf Pack How did we end up encountering a pack of Bone Spur Frost Wolves?

And there are fifteen of them at once?

This isn’t even the outskirts of Redwood Ridge.

Even though his mind was filled with confusion, Xia Hong had no time to think deeply at the moment.

Roar…

Roar……….

The Frost Wolf charging at him had a body length of at least 2.5 meters, with sharp fangs just half a meter away from his forehead.

The long spikes around its neck even scratched two long wounds on his arm.

Xia Hong raised his saber to the Frost Wolf’s jaw.

Sensing that the Frost Wolf was not as strong as he was, he leaped back, pulling the Frost Wolf with him, twisted the Shock Frost Saber, and stabbed fiercely into its back.

Swish……

Although the Frost Wolf was not as strong, its speed was astonishingly fast.

It seemed to sense the cold gleam behind it and twisted in a leap to evade.

Missing his strike, Xia Hong felt a bit disappointed and quickly turned to observe the situation with others.

At the sight, his heart sank halfway.

Yuan Cheng had already been knocked to the ground by a Frost Wolf.

Xia Chuan and Yue Feng rushed to save him, but before they could even act, another Frost Wolf had set its sights on them;

Lin Kai, Xu An, Li Yuankun, and Liu Yuan were also entangled with two Frost Wolves.

All four wielded stone axes, which couldn’t harm the Frost Wolves and were instead overwhelmed by their speed.

In no time, they were covered with multiple wounds;

The situation was worse for the seven Logging Realm members brought by Luo Ming.

One of them had already been bitten to death, becoming a feast for a Frost Wolf, while the remaining six faced off against three Frost Wolves, unable to hold their ground, surviving only with the desperate support of the two with knives.

Xu Kang and Luo Ming, like him, were entangled with the two strongest Frost Wolves among the pack, and from the looks of it, they couldn’t resolve it quickly either.

Whoosh…

Whoosh……

Whoosh whoosh…

The only fortunate ones were the ordinary people who were running away from the camp.

From the five trees behind them, sharp arrows were continuously being shot towards that side.

The four Frost Wolves targeting the ordinary people were not only stopped but two of them even got hit by four or five arrows each.

However, the hit areas were all on their backs, clearly not fatal injuries.

Whoosh……

A gust of fierce wind blew in his face.

Xia Hong quickly turned around, slashing sideways with his saber, hitting the spikes on the Frost Wolf’s neck.

However, the spikes were not cut off, only getting deflected to the side from the impact.

Sweeping his gaze across the physique of the wolf pack, Xia Hong noticed the arrows from the trees were becoming less frequent and realized that Li Baihe and the others were running out of arrows and grew increasingly anxious.

The three strongest ones were holding up himself, Luo Ming, and Xu Kang; eight slightly smaller ones were dealing with the Logging Realm members; while the other four pursued the larger group.

This pack of Frost Wolves was clearly organized.

The howling before they charged was presumably to arrange their formation.

They came with the intention to annihilate us!

Recalling information about wolf packs from his past life, Xia Hong’s heart sank.

He glanced towards the direction of Redwood Ridge.

Could it be that there’s a lead wolf in this pack?

It doesn’t matter, whether there is or not, we can’t drag this out any longer.

Xia Hong glanced over at the ordinary people, gritted his teeth, and shouted to those on the trees, “Don’t worry about them, take down the three big ones first, or everyone will die!”

The arrows, already sparse, instantly stopped after Xia Hong’s shout.

Only after more than ten breaths did the five on the trees seem to come to their senses, quickly turning their arrows toward the Frost Wolves near Xia Hong and fiercely shooting.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh……

Before the arrows even got there, Xia Hong had already switched the Shock Frost Saber to his left hand.

Taking advantage of the gap when the Frost Wolf lunged at him, he wrapped his right arm around its abdomen, planting both feet firmly, pinning it down to prevent it from moving.

Splat……

After three arrows went astray, one finally pierced into the Frost Wolf’s ear.

Seizing the opportunity, Xia Hong abruptly released his right hand, switched to gripping the saber with both hands, and, with a twist of his waist, forcefully cleaved at the Frost Wolf’s neck.

The spikes on the Frost Wolf’s neck that hadn’t been severed before because of its nimbleness to deflect Xia Hong’s force put up no such resistance this time, as the arrow piercing its eardrum caused it pain, staggering it, matching the impeccable timing Xia Hong grasped.

Crunch…

Several spikes on the Frost Wolf’s neck were severed by Xia Hong’s slash.

The Shock Frost Saber even cut three or four centimeters into its neck.

Yet, despite this, the Frost Wolf struggled on the ground for a brief moment before swiftly rising as if unscathed.

But judging by its cautious gaze and hesitant steps, it was clear the blow from Xia Hong had given it quite the scare.

“Help, help…”

“Run, they’re catching up.”

“Run, run.”

“Don’t block me, you at the front, run!”

……

The commotion from the north made Xia Hong grow even more anxious.

Although telling the five archers on the trees to ignore the ordinary people seemed cruel, it was undoubtedly the best choice under the current circumstances.

Xia Hong experimentally shifted a step sideways to the left, noticing the Frost Wolf immediately followed suit.

With a quick thought, he lunged forward with his saber raised in a feint, causing the Frost Wolf to stagger back frantically in fright.

Indeed, the Frost Wolf was scared!

Keeping his wits about him, Xia Hong turned to rescue Yuan Cheng, who was knocked over.

But turning around, he discovered Yuan Cheng was already on his feet.

Not only that, but the Frost Wolf that had just knocked him down also had one blind eye, oozing green blood.

Xia Hong was taken aback, then quickly noticed Xia Chuan next to Yuan Cheng, holding a small knife in his left hand, and a hint of excitement on his face, understanding instantly.

Well done, kid!

Courageous!

Not daring to delay, Xia Hong glanced northward, seeing the ordinary people at the end were in utter chaos, with the four Frost Wolves still slaughtering.

So, he immediately turned and shouted to everyone.

“Don’t get bogged down here, catch up with the main group.

Just block the Frost Wolves from killing anyone, and move quickly!”

Xia Chuan, Yuan Cheng, and the others who had broken free quickly followed the command, and Li Baihe and the other five archers on the trees swiftly came down, moving towards the ordinary people to drive away the four Frost Wolves, stopping them from further killing.

After driving away the four Frost Wolves behind, Li Baihe and the other five didn’t continue to escape but stopped to constantly shoot arrows, disrupting the Frost Wolves, creating opportunities for the other Logging Realm members to withdraw from the battle.

Once all the Logging Realm members had more or less withdrawn, Xia Hong, Luo Ming, and Xu Kang took advantage of Li Baihe’s arrows disruption to pull back and quickly catch up with the main group.

Seeing the dozens of mutilated corpses on the ground, Xia Hong’s face turned exceedingly grim.

In a matter of just about a hundred breaths, those four Frost Wolves managed to kill so many people.

Any slower, and it could have been much worse.

Xia Hong looked up at the fifteen Frost Wolves that had regrouped, realizing that despite his anger, he had to accept reality.

“Do not retreat, stand firm and block them.

Just don’t let them charge forward!”

Xia Hong and the four Earth-digging Realm members, including Luo Ming, stood on either side, with everyone generally in the middle.

All of them remained in place, their eyes locked onto the wolf pack.

The fifteen Frost Wolves, seeing the group not moving, advanced cautiously but with ever slowing steps and diminished movements.

There was a noticeable increase in fear in their eyes.

Especially the one Xia Hong injured earlier, with its hesitant steps lagging behind the other two robust Frost Wolves by a position.

“Huff……..”

Seeing the Frost Wolves not daring to charge immediately, Xia Hong relaxed slightly.

With high intelligence comes such overthinking.

To be honest, with just these few people, it was impossible to block these fifteen Frost Wolves while protecting the camp’s ordinary people.

Even in a life-and-death struggle, victory was uncertain.

To survive, they had to achieve victory through unexpected tactics.

“Leader Luo, Leader Xia, we are here to help!”

Suddenly, two voices called out from the rear of the crowd.

Xia Hong and Luo Ming turned their heads, their faces instantly lighting up with joy.
