Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

33: Chapter 33: Fighting Beasts 33: Chapter 33: Fighting Beasts “Yuan Cheng, Lin Kai, go extinguish the fire.

Xia Chuan, Yue Feng, you five follow me to the cave entrance.

Everyone else, retreat inside, quickly!”

In the face of sudden danger, Xia Hong quickly made arrangements.

The Cold Beast was already very close to the cave entrance, running outside was not realistic.

Moreover, it was still daytime, and even those at the Logging Realm couldn’t withstand the extreme cold outside, let alone the others in the camp.

The cave wasn’t big, but moving the group back ten meters wouldn’t be a problem.

“It’s daytime now.

Extinguish the fire, they won’t last long…”

Yuan Cheng was perplexed upon hearing the order, but the situation was urgent, and he didn’t have time to ask.

After extinguishing the fire, he finally asked a question.

“Have you forgotten?

The small torches we used when hunting with the leader came from this fire pit.”

Hearing Lin Kai’s answer, Yuan Cheng’s face immediately changed.

They had all seen firsthand the Cold Beast’s frenzy towards the small torches.

This fire was burning so fiercely; if the Cold Beast discovered it, it would be disastrous.

“Luckily, the leader reminded us, otherwise it would have been a disaster.

I remember that the torches can not only heal the Cold Beast but also enhance its power.”

“Yuan Cheng, Lin Kai, once the fire is out, come quickly to help!”

Upon hearing Xia Chuan’s voice, the two quickly rushed toward the cave entrance.

“Quickly bring the wood over to block the entrance, just in case.”

The ground was still trembling, and Xia Hong ordered everyone to move all the stored timber in the cave to the middle of the entrance.

He then went to the side of the cave and dug a small hole to see what was happening outside.

The moment the small hole was opened, a beam of light shot inside.

There was no longer any fire illuminating the cave, and it was pitch black.

It was daytime outside, so it was normal for sunlight to shine through the hole.

However, along with that beam of sunlight, a bone-chilling coldness also penetrated into the cave.

Xia Hong, who was closest to the hole, could even see with the naked eye the dust and tiny particles in the middle of the sunlight condensing at an extremely terrifying pace.

In just three or four breaths, they condensed into snowflakes out of thin air, fluttering to the ground.

Xia Hong’s pupils trembled as he tentatively extended his palm into the sunlight.

Ssssss…..

Almost the moment the sunlight touched his palm, a piercing cold shot from the palm straight to his head.

That part of his palm quickly turned blue, and even the blood inside ceased to flow.

Realizing that his palm was becoming numb, and the numbness was spreading to other parts of his body, Xia Hong’s face slightly changed.

He hurriedly withdrew his hand, rubbing it dozens of times before the numbness gradually disappeared.

“The daytime temperature can drop to such an extent.

No wonder they say humans can only survive in the shadows.

Even with Earth-digging Realm cultivation, one probably can’t walk freely in the sunlight.”

Xia Hong shook his hand to fully recover, then aligned his eyes with the small hole to look outside.

Sunlight attacking the skin was this bad; it was even worse when it hit the eyeballs directly.

The moment his eyes met the small hole, a sharp pain shot to his head.

Xia Hong endured the pain and hurriedly checked the situation outside.

At this sight, Xia Hong’s heart sank to the bottom.

A colossal creature with six horns and four limbs, resembling a goat and measuring five or six meters long, seemed startled and was charging wildly toward the hillside.

The enormous creature’s shoulder height was at least over two meters, and as it charged fiercely, it plowed through not just trees but even small hills along the way.

“It’s that goat-like Cold Beast, charging toward us!”

Xia Hong’s eyes reached their limit, and he quickly pulled back and sealed the small hole.

Upon hearing this, Xia Chuan and the others’ faces changed instantly.

They had seen that goat-like Cold Beast before.

But it was always at night, and they saw it while it slept on the Golden Frost Tree.

The goat-like Cold Beast was enormous, and since they didn’t understand it, Xia Hong always avoided it during hunts.

“Don’t worry, although it’s heading towards the hillside, it may not find our cave.

Let’s wait and see.”

The Cold Beast was already close to the cave entrance; worried about being discovered, Xia Hong didn’t open the small hole again but kept everyone on both sides of the entrance.

Everyone hoped the Cold Beast wouldn’t find the cave and would retreat.

Bang…

Bang…

Bang……

Perhaps their prayers had an effect, as the Cold Beast’s footsteps suddenly slowed.

Not only was it no longer as violent as before, but from the sound, it seemed to be moving farther away from the cave entrance.

Everyone’s hearts slightly steadied.

“It should be an accident; the Cold Beast didn’t discover the cave and went back.”

Only Xia Hong frowned deeply, feeling something wasn’t quite right.

Thinking of something, Xia Hong suddenly lay down, pressing his ear to the ground.

After listening for less than three breaths, Xia Hong’s face turned alarmed.

He abruptly sprang up from the ground, shouting sharply to everyone:

“Quick, scatter to the sides!”

Everyone jolted and swiftly retreated to the sides of the cave entrance.

Bang…

Almost the moment the eight of them retreated to the sides, six sharp horns broke through the cave entrance instantly.

Not only were the branches and grass used to block the entrance breached, but even the wood materials recently moved by everyone were pierced through by the sharp horns, turning into countless wood chips flying everywhere.

The fierce impact damaged the entire cave entrance.

Deadly cold air mixed with a large amount of sunlight seeped into the cave, and the eight people closest to the entrance, including Xia Hong, instantly had a layer of frost cover their beast skin skirts.

“Retreat inside, don’t fight it here at the entrance!”

Xia Hong called for the others to retreat inside, but he gritted his teeth and charged forward, grabbing the Cold Beast’s sharp horn.

After grabbing the horn, Xia Hong was almost thrown off by it.

Even as he forced himself to stabilize, the Cold Beast’s violent impact made him stagger backward continuously.

Yet even so, Xia Hong leveraged his footwork to keep adjusting the Cold Beast’s charge direction.

After retreating twenty to thirty meters, the beast’s impact direction had shifted from the cave interior to the left wall.

His rush forward wasn’t to wrestle with the Cold Beast.

This goat-like Cold Beast already had a stronger build than Snow Mane, and its size alone indicated it was unmanageable with his strength, which could barely match an adult Snow Mane.

He just wanted to redirect the Cold Beast’s charge.

With everyone retreating inside, if the Cold Beast charged further inside with that force, no one could withstand it.

Just before hitting the left wall, Xia Hong pushed off it with a strong kick, released his right hand, and drew a stone axe from his waist.

He seized the moment the Cold Beast charged toward the right wall to chop at its head.

Clang……

However, the horned Cold Beast barely moved.

It just slightly tilted its head, using its horns to block Xia Hong’s stone axe.

Not only did it block, but it also shattered the stone axe in Xia Hong’s hand.

Seeing the handle of the stone axe remaining in his hand, Xia Hong almost felt numb.

“Leader, catch the axe!”

Xia Hong raised his hand to catch the axe thrown by Xia Chuan, finally relaxing slightly.

Xia Chuan, Yuan Cheng, and the others had already surrounded the beast, wielding ropes.

Three on one side, four on the other, they threw the ropes and tied the Cold Beast from both sides, then pulled back with full force.

Though all seven were only at the Logging Realm, their combined strength was formidable.

Once the Cold Beast’s body was bound and unexpectedly pulled, it nearly toppled over.

Roar……

The Cold Beast steadied itself forcefully, letting out an angry roar, echoing throughout the cave.

Realizing it couldn’t break free from the ropes in their hands and locked in a stalemate with them, its anger clearly escalated rapidly.
