Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

After putting their things away, the two men turned their gaze to Perry Yates.

They had been in this game for over ten days.

Compared to previous games, this one wasn’t as dangerous, but it was truly suffocating. After all, they were stuck in a small space all day, unable to even see the sun.

Now, suddenly faced with such a fresh, top-tier beauty, the two couldn’t help but get some crooked ideas.

With that thought, one of the men moved a little closer to her. Just as he opened his mouth to say something, a bloodcurdling scream rang out the next second.

”AHHH!!!”

Perry Yates’s hand had, at some point, grabbed the wrist of the hand holding the dagger against her waist.

Then, she squeezed with immense force. With a ”CRACK,” the sound of shattering bone echoed.

Perry Yates let go. The dagger clattered to the ground, and the hand that had just been holding it was now twisted at a grotesque angle.

That was followed by a ”SQUELCH.”

His dagger had fallen to the ground, but Perry Yates’s dagger was now buried deep in the man’s chest.

”Next time you try to rob someone, remember not to talk so much.”

Perry Yates nonchalantly tossed the now-lifeless man to the ground and turned her gaze to the other one.

”What are you looking at? You want to end up like him?”

Hearing this, the remaining man let out a sigh of relief while shaking his head frantically.

”No, no, no! I’m sorry, my mistake! I’ll leave right now, I’m going!”

As he spoke, he turned and bolted as if afraid Perry Yates would change her mind.

Reaching a wall, he produced a pickaxe item and made short work of digging through it.

Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he jumped through.

She picked up the Space Backpack from the ground and brushed off the dust. The contents had already been taken.

’If that guy didn’t eat those mushrooms, he should be fine. But if he did...’

’Thinking about the data on those mushrooms, all Perry Yates could do was wish him luck.’

’However, the mushrooms looked almost identical to oyster mushrooms. Unless the man had identification items and used them for a second look, he was doomed.’

Slinging the Space Backpack over her shoulder again, Perry Yates pushed the player’s corpse into the pit she had dug earlier and set it on fire.

Watching the flames burn below, Perry Yates shook her head and tutted. She had originally planned to expand the height of the cave, but now it had practically become an incinerator.

Once the body had burned to ash, Perry Yates resumed her original plan: sterilizing the entire cave with high heat.

A few hours later, with the high-temperature sterilization complete, Perry Yates took out a grill. She picked some nearby Bright Mushrooms and pulled some meat from her Space Backpack, preparing for a simple meal.

Just then, the sharp-eared Perry Yates heard the sound of digging again, and it was very close.

’You’ve got to be kidding me. Is this ever going to end?’

After listening carefully, Perry Yates confirmed the digging sound was coming from beneath her feet.

At this, Perry Yates’s expression changed instantly. She immediately grabbed her grill and moved to a different spot.

To prevent a repeat of the last encounter, she made preparations in the surrounding area this time. If anything went wrong, she would send the newcomer to meet the King of the Underworld.

About ten minutes later, a hole was finally dug through the ground. The entire patch of floor then vanished, and a man climbed out.

The man had a slender build and a slight frown, radiating an unapproachable aura.

’She knew this person.’

’Perry Yates looked at the man before her. If she wasn’t mistaken, this was Dylan Adler, captain of the Survival Game Administration’s first squad.’

’Because of her identity as the owner of The Card Tavern, she didn’t know everyone from the Survival Game Administration, but she was acquainted with most of the high-ranking members and maintained good relationships with them (mainly because they didn’t dare to offend her).’

’However, the current situation was a bit awkward. After all, right now, Perry Yates was just Perry Yates, not the owner of The Card Tavern.’

The situation was that Perry Yates knew Dylan Adler, but Dylan Adler didn’t know her.

’But even with these thoughts running through her head, Perry Yates’s reaction was swift. In an instant, she switched into ’ordinary player’ mode.’

”Hey there,” Perry Yates said with a smile, taking the initiative to greet him.

Dylan Adler was startled by the sudden voice, but upon seeing Perry Yates, he let out a sigh of relief.

Don’t get the wrong idea; his relief wasn’t because he knew her. It was because of the small white flag that had appeared in her hand at some point. On it were written the words ”Don’t shoot, I’m friendly,” a perfect picture of timidity.

”You know me?”

Dylan Adler asked, looking at Perry Yates.

Perry Yates nodded. ”Of course. Captain of the Survival Game Administration’s first squad, one of Drakonia’s living legends.”

Dylan Adler didn’t say anything in response to her words, instead continuing with his question, ”Are you the only one here?”

Perry Yates nodded, then pointed to the side. ”Two people showed up just now trying to rob me. I managed to kill one, and the other ran off.”

The burn marks in the cave were obvious. Rather than have Dylan Adler get suspicious later, it was better for her to confess. Besides, killing someone in the game was no big deal.

As far as players were concerned, as long as the killing didn’t happen in the real world, the Survival Game Administration usually wouldn’t get involved.

Sure enough, upon hearing that Perry Yates had killed another player in self-defense, Dylan Adler showed no sign of disapproval.

This survival game was, at its core, about the law of the jungle. If you wanted to show kindness in this game, you first needed the strength to back it up—just like the owner of The Card Tavern.

Perry Yates noticed Dylan Adler’s gaze fall on her grill. Seeing this, she smiled slightly and said, ”Want to join me? There’s plenty of food here.”

As she spoke, she pointed to the surrounding Bright Mushrooms.

”Thank you. I won’t eat for free. This is for you as payment.” With a wave of his hand, a pile of ingredients appeared on the ground.

As the captain of the Survival Game Administration’s first squad, Drakonia’s public face to the outside world, and one of Drakonia’s top combatants, Dylan Adler was naturally not short on supplies.

Perry Yates didn’t stand on ceremony. She quickly prepped the ingredients and placed them all on the fire to grill.

The two chatted as they ate—or more accurately, Dylan Adler asked questions while Perry Yates answered. As for whether her answers were truthful? ’Of course they were,’ Perry Yates would say. ’After all, lying isn’t something a good kid should do.’

She had merely... embellished the correct answers a little.
