Chapter 2102: Waiting For A Chance

General Robert has battled Rikard multiple times and was very familiar with his attacks. This was one of his most annoying attacks Rikard had in his arsenal, and it was very difficult to deal with since it had darkness elemental essence infused into it. Once the water droplets touch an Elementalist, the darkness essence seeps into their body through the pores and quickly start assaulting the flow of one’s essence, making it difficult for them to properly use their elemental essence.

Rikard charged at General Robert with a hearty laugh, ”You’re still so gullible to get hit by this attack of mine.”

Wilmot, seeing General Robert in trouble, rushed in as well to try to take advantage of the opportunity. They sensed the death of one of their subordinates which worried them, and although a Ninth stage Sovereign was not as powerful as a Peak Sovereign, a few Ninth stage Sovereigns could threaten the life of one. The fact that the first Ninth stage Sovereign to fall was one of theirs alarmed them, since this meant there was someone among the Ninth stage Sovereigns on the human side that might be able to change the course of their battle against General Robert.

He recalled the masked human he saw two days ago. That masked human was the only one he was confident could kill one of their Ninth stage Sovereigns while under attack, after all, he did kill a Ninth stage Sovereign in a matter of seconds with some tricks.

Wilmot and Rikard mounted more pressure on General Robert who was finding it harder and harder to deal with their attacks.

General Robert grunted as one of the puppets cleanly attacked him on his back. Blood dripped from the sides of his mouth and he forcefully used the momentum from the strike to increase the distance between himself and the two Gnomes.

He had managed to isolate the darkness essence that snuck into his body, but he had to spare a lot of attention to it, which made it hard for him to focus fully on the battle.

’Looks like we’ll have to use another method, I can’t create a good opportunity for him in this condition.’ General Robert eyes darted around as he thought of ways for Grey to join him in battle. He had originally thought he could create an opening for Grey to come so they could unleash a fatal surprise attack. However, it seemed he had overestimated his abilities as he had not had the chance to do anything other than getting beaten by Rikard, Wilmot, and their puppets.

Rikard had a bright smile on his face when he saw General Robert being sent flying by his puppet. Even from the distance between him and General Robert, he could tell the latter was seriously struggling.

”Kill him quickly before I lose another subordinate.” Wilmot was not as carefree as Rikard who was taking pleasure in General Robert’s sorry state. The Ninth stage Sovereign that was killed was one of his subordinates, so he was tense as the reward he was promised by Rikard could no longer be sufficient for the loss of such an expert. The only consolation for him was that he would get Grey’s corpse.

Rikard heard the urgency in Wilmot’s voice and knew he could not play with his victim before killing him this time.

”Robert, I hope you have a family so I can show them the improved version of you when I’ve made you my puppet.” Rikard snickered.

”It’s sad you will never have that chance.” General Robert sneered. There was still hope, and even if there was no hope, he still would not back down in face of Rikard’s provocation.

’Looks like the death of their subordinate will work. The only problem now is can they kill another one?’

Wilmot’s words made General Robert understand that the death of the Ninth stage Sovereign was enough to distract the duo long enough for him to summon Grey over and launch the attack. Nonetheless, he knew that with the death of the first Ninth stage Sovereign, the others would employ a more cautious attitude once they started fighting again.

And it was just as he speculated, the Gnomes naturally switched their strategies with the death of Thrum. They focused all their attention on killing Grey, which made it hard for him to create the chance to kill another one of them with such ease.

On Grey’s end of the battlefield.

He was still being assaulted from all sides, two more minutes had passed since the Gnomes teamed up against him, and he was having a hellish battle. His body was riddled with wounds at the moment, and even parts of his masks had started to break off. Given his looks, he was certain the Gnomes would instantly recognize him once they saw his face. He had to take extra care to protect his face while he was being attacked by the Gnomes and puppets.

Multiple attacks landed on his body, only to be blocked by a faint golden light. The light dimmed immediately it was struck and shattered the next instant. The short time the golden light appeared was enough for Grey to successfully dodge the attacks. However, he faced even more attacks from the direction he tried to escape towards.

’Fuck!’

Grey knew he could not continue hiding his full abilities. A brownish glow spread out, enveloping the rapidly approaching Gnomes.

None of them knew Grey had a technique like this under his belt since he had not used it once even when he was getting thrown around like a sand bag. The sudden change in gravity took the Gnomes and their puppets by surprise and four of the Gnomes were actually dragged to the ground, unable to keep themselves afloat.

Kora and another Gnome were able to continue flying even with the sudden change. Of the four who were unable to keep their footing, the old Gnome Grey had attacked earlier was one of them. The Gnome was already injured prior to this, so he had the least defense against it.

’This is bad.’ Kora felt a bad premonition when she saw the falling Gnomes.
