Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

”Actually…. The reason my house is in this state is because-” In the end, he had decided to tell Feng Chen about how he had ended up blowing up half his house due to refining a demonic medicinal potion.

Of course, him suddenly confessing that he had been refining a demonic medicinal potion made Feng Chen shocked… But after listening to Elder Song explaining the reason why he had decided to make such a thing, Feng Chen’s shocked expression slowly turned into one of worry.ℯ

The fact that Elder Song had sacrificed his own lifespan to make the demonic medicinal potion instead of using a live human sacrifice that most demonic potions or other kinds of demonic concoctions required, while it was a good thing in Feng Chen’s eyes, as it meant Elder Song had not ended up becoming a demonic cultivator but was also something that caused Feng Chen to worry for Elder Song’s health.

After all, as a Nascent Soul Realm Expert, he very clearly understood just how damaging it was to extract once own lifespan!

”I see… So that is what happened… If only you told me sooner, I would have been able to help you…” Listening to Elder Song as he finished talking about the demonic medicinal potion and the disease Song Jia was suffering from, Feng Chen let out a sigh while thinking about how hard it must have been for Elder Song during the last few years.

Not only did he have to deal with the constant pain that would come along with him extracting so much of his own lifespan, but he was also the one who managed most parts of the Flying Sword Sect and made sure that everything could run smoothly without anything troublesome happening.

Under his meticulous care, there had not been a single elder that acted out of line and none that dared even think about embezzling any of the sect’s spirit stones.

Although they did turn out quite lazy, it was something that both he and Elder Song were actively trying to fix. However, it had been taking way longer than both of them had expected it would to fix the Flying Sword Sect Elders laziness. The elders of the Flying Sword Sect were far lazier than both of them had first anticipated…

During all of this, he had never once noticed just what Elder Song had been going through…

”Haa… Elder Song, you should take the next week off as well, I will take care of the sect on my own! Don’t worry about your granddaughter either, I’m sure some of the other elders will be more than happy to look after her while you recover!”

”A-are you sure sect master…? You should know just how much I-”

”Yes! I’m sure Elder Song, you should go recover in the medical ward located next to the Alchemy Hall for now!”

Having made up his mind to not let Elder Song suffer any more… Well… At least until he had recovered from the injuries he had very clearly received when he had failed to refine the demonic medicinal potion, Feng Chen interrupted the old man before he had a chance to retaliate against the week off, he had been given.

”I understand sect master… I will be going now, please help inform Elder Xuan about my whereabouts so he can tell me how things went with my little granddaughter!”

”Yes, yes! Now go!”

Rolling his eyes while saying this, Feng Chen watched as the old man slowly began making his way towards the medical ward located next to the Alchemy Hall.

Whoosh~

Only when the old man was out of sight did Feng Chen leave the area. Making his way back towards Zu Fei’s pavilion where he had been temporarily staying and doing his work as a sect master while his own pavilion was being rebuilt.

It was only a few days after having sent the most productive member of the Flying Sword Sect on a week-long vacation, that Feng Chen would realize just how big of a mistake he had made when doing so!

…

Swish!

A spear swiftly moved through the night, as the moon that had just recently risen shone down from above. Illuminating the metal spear as it cut into a large frog.

Croak!

Letting out a surprised croaking sound, the large frog did not have any time to react before the spear pierced through its soft body. Killing it in one blow!

Appearing above the dead body of the large frog, the owner the spear revealed itself to be none other than Chu Yang.

After the Core Formation Realm demon beasts inside the ancient city ruins had gathered together for safety and he had killed the rest of the demon beasts at the Core Formation Realm that roamed the outer part of the ancient city ruins alone, Chu Yang had tried using the transparent stones he had gathered to break through to the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm.

However, he had failed just a single step away from breaking through to the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm. Hovering just between what could be called the early stage and middle stage of the Core Formation Realm.

After having failed to break through to the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm, Chu Yang had left the ancient city ruins for the time being, as he began searching the surrounding area for any demon beasts in the Core Formation Realm in hopes of finding more of the transparent stones so he could reach the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm.

The reason why he wanted to reach the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm, was because he would be far stronger after reaching that realm and would at the same time also be able to enter the core part of the ancient city ruins without having to worry about getting killed by the powerful rabbit demon beast with a pair of demon horns…

”No transparent stone inside this one either… But it clearly reached the Core Formation Realm, can I really only get transparent stones from the Core Formation Realm demon beasts inside the ancient city ruins…?” Feeling a bit agitated after failing to find any transparent stone in the body of the large frog on the ground, Chu Yang could not help wondering if it was only demon beasts inside the ancient city ruins that had a transparent stone inside of them after they reached the Core Formation Realm.

The large frog was not the first Core Formation Realm demon beast he had killed in the outskirts of the ancient city ruins, but it was similar to the others, as none of the Core Formation Realm demon beasts he had killed after leaving the ancient city ruins had a transparent stone inside of them.

Not only that, but the Core Formation Realm demon beast located outside the ancient city ruins were also far weaker compared to those inside the ancient city ruins.

Although he could still kill the ones inside the ancient city ruins, it would take far more effort compared to the frog demon beast that he had just killed… Well… With the exception of the three headed horse demon beast that he killed a few hours ago…

”Do I really have to enter the core part of the ancient city ruins if I want to break through to the Fourth Stage…?” Muttering this to himself as he turned to look towards the outer walls of the ancient city ruins that were barely visible in the distance from his current location, Chu Yang could not help feeling a bit helpless.

He could always just leave the area and take his time to break through to the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm by himself, but Chu Yang felt unwilling to do such a thing. Not only would it take a few months to reach the Fourth Stage of the Core Formation Realm by himself, but he would also have to return to the Flying Sword Sect by that point in time. Essentially giving up his opportunity to explore the core part of the ancient city ruins.

After all, he never knew when he would be able to get his master’s permission to leave the sect again for an adventure.

If he had already reached the Nascent Soul Realm at that point in time, the things inside the core part of the ancient city ruins might be completely useless to him at that point in time!

Not to mention, Chu Yang could easily imagine how regretful he would be if Qing Yi had become stronger than him at that point in time and the things inside the ancient city ruins just so happened to have been things that would have been able to help him stay as the strongest disciple under his master if he had gotten his hands on them during his time in the Core Formation Realm...

The time saved by consuming the transparent stones of the Core Formation Realm demon beasts inside the ancient city ruins was not something to scoff at either! Just the ones he had consumed so far, had helped him save months of time that he would normally have needed to reach his current cultivation realm!

With all this in mind, Chu Yang really did not want to give up on entering the core part of the ancient city ruins. Unaware of the fact that absorbing the transparent stones to quickly increase his cultivation realm did not come without a cost...
