Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4709  Keeping An Eye Out

Davis questioned for more information. He considered all that Cantor Darkdew said and thought for a few moments before he gestured.

”How do you want to die?”

”…”

Cantor Darkdewʼs mouth went agape lightly. He closed it and opened it, unable to say anything before he sighed visibly. The stiffness in his body also lessened a great deal.

”I suppose thereʼs no point in living. Just please… donʼt… massacre my tribe.”

”I wonʼt.” Davis shook his head, ”This isnʼt even your territory or locality. It is you who needlessly sneaked into our hideout and decided to arbitrarily assassinate me, and that too while I was asleep. If you had attacked me straight away and openly, perhaps thereʼs some chance for you to be pardoned, but you made your choice to assassinate without confirming my intentions. Now you must reap what you sow.”

”…” Cantor Darkdew wryly smiled.

How could be, a mere Empyrean kill an Immortal Emperor who was riding a Void Calamity that was at Level Two Exalt Stage in a frontal battle?

He had to take his chances while the other party was vulnerable. Besides, assassination, or rather, attacking in the dark and unguarded, was darkness spiritsʼ attacking style. But he supposed a human wouldnʼt understand that.

Nonetheless, he was satisfied with this humanʼs answer. As long as his actions didnʼt bring harm to the tribe, his life was nothing.

”Please make it painless.” Cantor Darkdew lowered his head.

Davis could feel his acceptance and couldnʼt help but smile satisfactorily, ”If you donʼt want to die, then cough up an appropriate amount of resources.”

”…”

Cantor Darkdew thought the next time this human spoke, he would close his eyes. However, something else was demanded, making him speechless.

”Also, you must do something for me. If you do so to my satisfaction, Iʼll even grant you a reward of your attribute that will allow you to reach the peak of the Empyrean Stage easily.”

”W-What is it…?”

Cantor Darkdew grew a bit hopeful. Even with all the despair, he didnʼt want to die. Life could always be re-established as long as he could grow powerful. As a slave, he really didnʼt have any authority in his tribe, even among the survivors, so he couldnʼt access the resources either.

But with the promise of a resource of that caliber, even his heart wavered as he grew a bit hopeful to be inviting death.

Fairy Thunderblaze frowned. For an interloper who attacked them while they were asleep, she didnʼt want to leave him alive. This action was worthy of a thousand deaths.

”First, you must become my slave. Then, weʼll talk. Or else, you die. Choose.”

Davis offered. Only then did Fairy Thunderblaze feel some ease. Making him a spirit slave and having him do dangerous things was also good. She supposed they could bait out that blood-attributed calamity with this spirit.

Cantor Darkdew blinked.

His expression didnʼt change much. Having lived as a slave for nearly his whole life, he didnʼt have any aversion to it. However, he was considering what kind of enslavement this human would bestow upon him.

Davis gave him thirty seconds to consider before he prompted.

Cantor Darkdew opened his mouth, ”As long as my tribe isnʼt harmed in any way, Iʼm willing.”

”Very good. Now accept my slave seal.”

Davis used Judgment Laws to enslave Cantor Darkdew. Trying to assassinate him while he was vulnerable was a grave sin. The slave seal on Cantor Darkdew was extremely strong.

”Good.”

After the slave seal was easily imposed along with many restrictions, Davis waved his hand to skip the master-slave formalities and informed him.

”Go to the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak. As an Empyrean Stage expert, you should be allowed entry, no?”

”Yes, with my strength, Iʼm allowed to enter for a day in a year to exchange and communicate. I have entered a few times…”

”Thatʼs good. If you hand over a High-Level Empyrean Grade resource as a tribute, how long would you be able to stay?”

”I will be able to stay for two months.”

Davis wordlessly took out an ordinary High-Level Empyrean Grade resource and handed it to Cantor Darkdew.

”Take this and make the tribute. Then go keep an eye on a spirit who looks like this from a distance and make sure that she doesnʼt get in trouble.”

Davis showed an image of Rioxys Plume and coldly said, ”If she does get into trouble, she canʼt extricate herself from or get taken above the clouds, kill yourself. I will know.”

Cantor Darkdew was stunned. He then smiled wryly, ”Understood, master.”

He didnʼt underestimate this person before him at all. His soul was easily branded with a slave seal. Furthermore, he couldnʼt sense it nor make any sense of it as it was unlike any slave seal he had seen. It also had many restrictions, like if he divulged that he had been made a slave by an outsider, he would immediately die. To an Immortal Emperor, enslaving an Empyrean by themselves should be extremely difficult, much less him, whose prowess could barely enter High Stage Empyrean.

He could now understand; no wonder this person managed to tame a Calamity.

”You can leave now.”

After giving a few more instructions, Davis patted Cantor Darkdewʼs shoulders with a gentle smile and stood up, returning to his tent.

Fairy Thunderblaze cast a cold gaze full of warning before she also followed him back.

Cantor Darkdew also stood up and left. The scars of the golden divine lightning hurt-

Hurt?

Cantor Darkdew suddenly froze. He didnʼt feel pain anymore.

When did his body heal? He didnʼt know.

He absentmindedly walked away, heading towards the sky-piercing mountain.

Inside Davisʼs tent, Davis was about to go to sleep again.

He wasnʼt tired because he used his soul force on Cantor Darkdew. The exhaustion stemming from traveling in the Shard Continent really wasnʼt funny. It nearly made him feel like a cultivationless mortal again if it werenʼt for the powers he wielded.

”So you spared him for Rioxys Plumeʼs sake.”

Standing near the entrance of the tent, Fairy Thunderblaze spoke.

”Are you dissatisfied?”

Davis plopped on the bed and stretched unabashedly before putting his arms behind his head and gazing at her with a complacent expression.

”Not really. If you werenʼt here, I would cast him to a world of torture, but since you enslaved him and even commanded him to die, I suppose itʼs a good end for him.”

Davis blinked, ”It isnʼt as if heʼs going to die. I only gave him a chance to take back the mistake he made.”

Fairy Thunderblaze raised her brows, ”You call that a mistake? Itʼs a blunder deserving of a thousand deaths. Not only did he pull me into a dream, but you also nearly got assassinated if he had managed to pull you into a dream and sink the dagger into your soul. Of course, you wonʼt die, but just because you wonʼt die, donʼt you think your punishments are light?”

”…” Davis closed his mouth for a moment.

ʼThis woman… sheʼs not even in my family, but she has a lot to say about how I move…ʼ He was both amused and irritated.

However, he was bored with the last two days being rather silent and dull, so he chose to entertain himself.

”First-”
