Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 1893: Chapter 634: Food Shortage, Territory Inspection (Daily Chapter)

Shaking his head, Cao Xing stopped thinking too much.

He continued walking toward the territory’s agricultural area.

Before long, he saw a large area covered by white greenhouses ahead.

This agricultural area covers an area of 200 acres, which is already considered quite large among the survivors.

Many Lord territories don’t even have a total area this large.

Dozens of villagers from Puteng Village and those female elves were constantly busy in the fields.

The villagers bent down to cultivate, their movements skilled and focused.

The female elves fluttered their transparent wings, irrigating each crop with the ’Dawn Dew’ they collected.

The scene in front of him was full of vitality and harmony.

Cao Xing paused to watch for a moment and then called for the old village chief, Zelko.

The current agriculture in the territory was under his management.

In less than a minute, an elderly man quickly arrived at Cao Xing’s side, speaking respectfully, ”Lord, may you be healthy.”

Cao Xing nodded and directly asked, ”Zelko, what is the current production situation of our territory’s crops?”

The old village chief quickly reported, ”Lord, we have divided each type of crop into regions according to your standard.”

”Currently, the territory has 200 acres of fertile land, of which 120 acres are used to plant ’Kulin Barley’ and ’Cold Dew Rice.’ The other 80 acres are used to plant ’Agate Grapes’ and ’Silver Dew Berries,’ these two economic crops.”

”Now, with the help of these diligent elves, even the growth cycle of these magic plants has been drastically shortened.”

”We only need two months to harvest once!”

”A single harvest can yield at least seventy to eighty thousand kilograms of crops!”

The old village chief vividly described, his tone filled with excitement and pride.

He had farmed his entire life and had never seen such efficient agricultural magic production before.

Simply put, it was a combination of magic and wisdom!

However, as Cao Xing listened to his report, he fell into thought.

Although these 200 acres of fertile land in the territory seemed numerous, and the yearly production was also astonishing.

The problem is that all the fertile land was used for planting economic crops.

And these crops were what Cao Xing intended to trade with the guilds.

In other words, the territory itself did not have a single grain of food to eat.

”This won’t do...” Cao Xing murmured softly.

”Next, I plan to directly expand the territory into a giant city, by then, the entire territory would have at least tens of thousands of people.”

”With such a large population, if there’s no stable food supply, the consequences would be unthinkable.”

After a moment of contemplation, Cao Xing raised his head.

”Unless...I can establish long-term and stable trade relations with those guilds, exchanging these magic plants for a large amount of ordinary food.”

”In this way, not only can I earn a large number of Crowns, but I also wouldn’t have to worry about food problems in the future.”

”Moreover, once the giant city is built, I can allocate larger areas specifically for food production.”

Cao Xing hadn’t ruled out the idea of directly reclaiming a large area of fertile land outside the territory and sending two soldiers to guard and protect it.

After all, there was still a vast area outside the territory waiting for him to cultivate.

But doing so would miss out on the growth bonuses of the Pale Tree and the special environmental protection of the territory.

Once it encounters a storm or other heavenly calamities, these crops would be all for naught.

This is a situation that most territories in this world will encounter.

”Therefore, my agricultural area still has to be built within the territory in the future.”

”At most, just expend more resources to continue expanding the area of the wall.”

Cao Xing made up his mind and then looked at the old village chief.

With an encouraging expression on his face, he said, ”You’ve worked hard, Zelko Village Chief.”

”However, the territory will face its next expansion plan soon, so many newcomers will be recruited.”

”At that time, I will arrange for these newcomers to join the agricultural construction.”

”We still need you, the old village chief, to work hard and lead them in learning how to cultivate and grow these crops.”

Upon hearing this, the village chief Zelko solemnly replied, ”Rest assured, Lord, I will do my best to teach and supervise them!”

”Under my watch, no one can be lazy!”

...

After leaving the agricultural area of the territory, Cao Xing arrived at the livestock area.

In front of him appeared neatly arranged cowsheds, surrounded by a circle of wooden fences.

The ’Intermediate Cowshed’ here expanded from the original seven to eleven, with each housing a large number of livestock.

Most of them are cloud yaks and light feather chickens, these magic creatures with considerable economic value.

In addition, there were those big horned sheep and high mountain cows brought over by Old Mel when he first came to the territory.

After several months of breeding, there are now many lively calves and fluffy lambs in the territory.

These creatures are creating a large amount of revenue for the territory every day.

Cao Xing saw several figures busy in front, constantly moving in and out among several cowsheds.

They were feeding fodder to the livestock inside, cleaning barns, checking health conditions, and so on.

These people were Old Mel and Dahua, along with two other villagers from Hog Village.

As the number of livestock in the territory increased, Old Mel and the other person couldn’t handle it alone any longer, so they were given two more assistants.

At this moment, the sharp-eyed Dahua immediately spotted Cao Xing outside the fence and promptly tugged on Old Mel’s sleeve.
