The Villain's Story

Chapter 750: The necklace.

Blocks of stone that had years of moss growing upon them like a small forest, miniature creatures that roamed those verdant forests. Black roots of an unknown tree broke through the old stone, from above, from below, and from the sides. There was an earthly, yet metallic scent present

There was no light in this dark room, but as someone with an affinity to darkness, Sabrina had no trouble with her vision. She found herself in a strange room. There were no decorations, yet the lingering scent of magic piqued her curiosity.

”Is this a prank?”

She had been teleported here the moment she inserted mana into the necklace. She had wanted to assess its effects... But she had never expected this.

Maybe Alan pulled a prank on her?

’No, he’s not like that.’

There was not a single trace of Alan’s mana in this entire place. He would have needed to use his spatial mana to teleport anything, and neither was the mana present, and nor was the method of teleportation similar to his.

”Hmm...”

She tapped her foot on the ground, and from it released multiple tendrils of darkness to search the entire room, and what lay beyond. The tendrils passed through the slits in the stone with ease, and Sabrina was surprised to find many tunnels beyond. Like something had tried to drill inside from multiple angles, but had failed.

The stone room... was nearly indestructible from the outside, but brittle from within. She could destroy it with ease from the inside, but even Alan wouldn’t have been able to scratch the outside.

”...”

With time, her expression grew serious as the network of tunnels was incredibly vast, All of them led up, but she had no idea how far down she was... Her mana was insufficient to explore all the tunnels. Therefore, she concentrated all of her efforts on only one. As she was traversing the tunnels with her dark mana, she heard a shout in her mind.

[WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!]

It was Alan, speaking through the Astral connection. He was a bit loud, which was unpleasant, but she understood he was worried.𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

[Calm down, I’m fine. Come here for a moment.]

[ON IT.]

Immediately, the dark room was illuminated with the blue light of a portal and Alan stepped out, drenched in sweat.

Which one must consider is extremely difficult for him to be drenched in sweat.

He had a relieved expression on his face as he saw she was fine, but his expression hardened as soon he realized his portal had crumbled in mere moments.

Sabrina shared the same expression... There was a spatial field in wherever they were that allowed entry, but did not allow them to leave, contrary to the room they were in.

”Where the hell is this?”

He was activating his Draconian form, but Sabrina stopped him.𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

”Wait, I don’t think there’s a need for that.”

He stopped at a partial transformation, just in time as Sabrina finally reached the surface, They were about two kilometers down, but she was unable to see what was on the surface. Only determine that there were no hostile creatures in the tunnels and up above.

She cancelled her magic, and noticed Alan looking up with his [Dragon Eyes], seeing the same thing she had, but probably far better. With his skill, he should be able to discern what lies at the surface.

”I got teleported here after I inserted mana into the necklace you gave me.”

She was clearly asking for an explanation as she pointed at the necklace on her slender neck. Alan looked as confused as she was.

”I don’t know... I’m sorry.”

”Why are you apologizing? Let’s figure out a way to get out first. Can you not open a portal at all?”

He shook his head.

”No, something here is completely blocking me from doing it.”

Sabrina sighed, Alan looked incredibly dejected. He probably thought all of this was his fault. She tried to comfort him.

”Come on, it’s ok. I love the necklace, let’s try going to the surface.”

She collapsed one side of the stone wall with just a poke, revealing the tunnel she scouted to the surface.

It was small, they would have to crawl all the way up, and it was incredibly dirty as all tunnels would be... Sabrina grimaced.

”Let me go first.”

Alan stepped into the tunnel and crawled forward, Sabrina followed behind him. It was better to have him in front in case something appeared in the tunnels. Whatever it could be, Alan would be able to handle it better than her.

They traversed the tunnels, and the unease in Sabrina only grew with time. They were dry, dirty, and had an odd metallic scent. The pitch black stone and roots all around did not make it any easier. Sabrina was being fed up with it.

However, the real issue started when they found themselves at an intersection, where multiple tunnels connected. The plan was still to keep moving in the same one, but unease grew in Sabrina as she looked at the dark maws all around her.

”...”

... What if something appeared behind her? Anything could happen within these tunnels.

She gulped, and pulled on Alan’s pants, and he was forced to oblige.

They were previously on their knees, but now, Alan was on his stomach, and Sabrina on his back, wrapping her arms around his neck.

”... Why?”

He asked, while not exactly opposed to this sudden change.

”... Anything can happen in these tunnels. What if something appears behind me and drags me away? Do you want that? Do you want your girlfriend to disappear into the dark labyrinths of these tunnels dragged by something vicious as she screams for her life?

”I think your overthinking this.”

He shrugged it off and proceeded forward. There was quite a large distance to travel. As he made his way up, he noticed the falling rocks and stone and commented.

”If this thing collapses, it’s going to be an issue...”

Dragon eyes showed him that the possibility of that happening was high. However, he felt something was wrong.

”Alan.”

”What?”

”I’m going down, you be up. You’re right, if this collapses I’ll be crushed.”

”...”

He should have kept his mouth shut.
