Star Martial Era: The Way of Star Light Cultivation

Chapter 408: Chapter 181 Gratitude

September 17, at the Foreign Affairs Hall.

Vice Hall Master Ling Mao received Xu Jin personally once again, with exceptional enthusiasm.

After a thorough inventory, Ling Mao drew up a list for Xu Jin.

The list detailed the various Star Cores that Xu Jin brought back from the third-tier Purple Wind Star Domain, totaling one thousand two hundred forty-one third-tier Star Cores and five fourth-tier Star Cores.

The third-tier Star Cores exchanged for a total of 7560 Taoist Merits for Xu Jin.

The main reason was the quantity, and another was that this time, the Star Cores Xu Jin obtained were mostly middle-grade within the third-tier, and there were also plenty of top-grade ones.

Surprisingly to Xu Jin, the Taoist Merits obtained for the fourth-tier Star Cores were unexpectedly high.

A middle-grade Star Core at the fourth order first layer exchanged for three hundred Taoist Merits, and a middle-grade Star Core at fourth order second layer directly exchanged for four hundred Taoist Merits.

The five fourth-tier Star Cores exchanged for 1800 Taoist Merits for Xu Jin.

After much thought, Xu Jin decided not to take out the additional eleven fourth-tier Star Cores reserved at the Candou Platform.

The Star Cores Xu Jin kept were all above the third layer of the fourth-tier Star Condensation, with two being top-grade Star Casting.

These Star Cores weren’t worthwhile to exchange for Taoist Merits.

At the very least, they could be consumed all at once and used as fourth-tier Emblems.

After the exchange session, Xu Jin’s Taoist Merit count increased significantly, which pleased him greatly.

Among them were also the Taoist Merits given by Wang Jiugao for buying Star Weapon Emblems.

[Taoist Merit: 28650 points]

[Starlight: 1244 strands]

This made Xu Jin feel like a rich man.

With so many Taoist Merits, worth quite a bit, he was not far from being the richest man in Jinshan County.

”Hall Master Ling, I saw the notice that registration for this year’s autumn Star-pointing Season has started, hasn’t it?” Xu Jin asked.

Upon hearing this, Ling Mao nodded, ”Lord Xu, are you thinking of registering someone for the National Taoist Institute’s autumn Star-pointing? The requirements for the National Taoist Institute’s autumn Star-pointing are a bit higher since the ordinary disciples’ autumn Star-pointing is generally registered through the Wanyi National Taoist Institute.

Thus, the National Taoist Institute’s autumn Star-pointing requires some conditions.

In that case, Lord Xu, please tell me about the person you intend to register, and I will consider it for you.”

Xu Jin was surprised.

This was something Xu Jin had not specifically looked into before.

He hadn’t expected that direct registration at the National Taoist Institute required several conditions.

But upon reflection, it was quite normal.

The National Taoist Institute was Dachen’s top Cultivation place; if they simply took one or two hundred taels of silver, then the disciples of the National Taoist Institute would have been overwhelmed long ago.

There would be no need for the Wanyi Taoist Institute to exist.

It was similar to the difference between an ordinary middle school and the top-ranked middle school within a province.

”It’s my younger sister, who just turned fifteen this year,” Xu Jin said.

”Registering directly for the National Taoist Institute’s autumn Star-pointing requires three conditions,” Ling Mao explained to Xu Jin, extending three fingers.

”First, there must be a fifth-tier or higher-tier cultivator in the family; however, there are many exceptions to this rule. Lord Xu, being a True Inheritor, means the blood relatives of a True Inheritor can also satisfy this condition.”

”Second, there must have been a fourth-tier or higher-tier expert who nurtured the Central Star Palace, to be eligible for registration.”

”Third, the Star-pointing fee, which is paid in Taoist Merit, is fifty points.”

After explaining, Ling Mao analyzed for Xu Jin, ”The first and third conditions are not a problem for Lord Xu, but the second condition, I don’t know if Lord Xu is aware of it. If not, I can help ask someone or even offer my help myself,” Ling Mao said with a chuckling tone.

In detailing so meticulously and offering a solution, Ling Mao was essentially hoping to earn a favor from Xu Jin.

At this moment, Xu Jin understood why the State Preceptor and Ning Yuchan had nurtured Jiang’er’s Central Star Palace, realizing there was this hidden rule.

Indeed, after Xu Jin expressed his thanks and stated that it had been nurtured already, a flicker of disappointment passed in Ling Mao’s eyes. Gaining favors from a True Inheritor was no easy task.

He also mentioned that, for the second requirement, an expert who nurtured the Central Star Palace must sign and seal the document before submitting it to the National Taoist Institute.

That would be easy to handle.

Several minutes later, Xu Jin paid fifty Taoist Merits, and once he handed over the Jade signed and sealed by Ning Yuchan in the afternoon, Jiang’er would be able to receive the identity token of a disciple of the Outer Court of the National Taoist Institute.

The National Taoist Institute’s autumn Star-pointing would start on September 19.

”Vice Hall Master Ling, I’m looking to purchase a set of millennium tortoise shells; I’m not sure if our Foreign Affairs Hall has any, or where to buy them?” Xu Jin asked proactively.

Among the materials required to upgrade to fourth-tier on the Candou Platform, a thousand strands of Starlight, thirty-six pieces of fourth-tier Star Jade, a thousand catties of silver, and a hundred taels of gold had been gathered long ago.

A catty of Star Fallen Iron was also gathered within the third-tier Purple Wind Star Domain.

Now only a thousand catties of Iron Essence, a hundred catties of Copper Essence, and a piece of millennium tortoise shell remained.

Although Iron Essence and Copper Essence were under military control as supplies, they were not hard to obtain; many Weapon Forging Shopsş had them, and it wasn’t difficult to acquire them by paying more silver.

However, there were currently no leads on the millennium tortoise shell.

”Is Lord Xu studying Alchemy?” Ling Mao looked somewhat surprised at Xu Jin.

Typically, top-tier geniuses like Xu Jin would not study Star Refining Skill before reaching the Peak of Fourth-tier Star Condensation.

It was mainly a matter of distraction.

Moreover, with higher Cultivation Level, revisiting these skills later often achieved more with less effort.

”That’s not it!

My father is getting older, his spirit waning; as his children, we want to show filial piety. I’ve heard that millennium tortoise shells can nourish the heart and calm the spirit, so I plan to buy a set to make a Heart Protecting Armor for my elderly father to wear all year round.”
