Gu Xijiu kept her stance on the matter. “I will not accept any disciple.”

Qianshi was shocked that she shut the door in his face. He was certainly not used to being rejected. Swiftly, his inner child’s instinct kicked in. “My Divine Lord, you said that you were going to take me as your disciple not long ago,” he gently reminded.

Gu Xijiu softly replied, “As I said before, I would only offer the opportunity once. If you missed it, you missed it.”

Qianshi’s face flushed crimson with embarrassment. “I did not know about you back then.”

Gu Xijiu finally looked at him properly but with judgment in her eyes. “Did you just agree to acknowledge me as your master because you found out my identity?”

“No… No!” Qianshi stammered.

Gu Xijiu continued to look at him sternly with an expression of disapproval. “Other than your ability to fawn upon the powerful, you have also disappointed me with your bad lies. Your talents will not do you any good.”

Qianshi blushed at the unexpected reprimand. He wanted to explain himself, but did not know what to say. His thin lips were pinched into a tight line as he felt wronged. Soon, tears starting rolling in his eyes.

When he first saw Gu Xijiu, he knew that she was the one that he would call his master. However, he was too arrogant to ask for a favor. He rejected Gu Xijiu at first only because he was hoping that she would ask again. To his surprise, she did not.

Determined, he decided to venture into the Celestial Kingdom in search of a master. He wanted to show Gu Xijiu how good he actually was so that she would regret not accepting him as her disciple. As it turned out, he was the one who bore the remorse.

All was not lost yet for the boy, as the Emperor Immortal stood up for Qianshi. “My Divine Lord, the child is extraordinary. He has no parents, as he is the product of the pure essence of heaven and earth. He was born with a remarkable level of spiritual power, which makes him a rare talent. If you can train him well, he will be blessed with a great future. The six worlds are in a mess right now. Many lives were lost in these troubled times. In order to restore peace, we need a leader to reinforce law and justice. A Divine Lord’s disciple will be the perfect candidate. The boy is young, but he has been through some really hard times for being wanted by every party. Many bad things have taken away his innocence as a child, thus making him a little isolated. However, he is still a good boy. All he needs is a good mentor.”

Gu Xijiu interrupted, “Guan Shao, you have talked too much. I know what I am doing. You should stop now.”

After a long pause, the Emperor Immortal finally stopped talking about the boy.

He sincerely apologized was overstepping the line. “You are right. I have no place to meddle in this matter. Perhaps we should talk about it later. My Divine Lord, you have remained dormant for so many years. A lot has changed about the universe, so you will probably need some help to catch up. I can send two servants who are both smart and knowledgeable, so you can ask them questions when necessary. Also, they can help you out with your chores. It will be great if you can mentor them in your free time. What do you think?”

Quietly, Gu Xijiu considered his suggestion.

The Emperor Immortal seized the chance and looked through his squad to select two smart-looking immortals who would be assigned to Gu Xijiu as her young servants. They had to be the best looking of the lot.

Qianshi took the first step and volunteered himself, “I agree to stay and become a servant boy.”

Shocked, none of the crowd, not even the Emperor Immortal, saw this coming. The arrogant child would not usually submit to anyone so easily.

The Emperor Immortal looked at Gu Xijiu in bewilderment, while waiting for an answer. Gu Xijiu slowly added, “Even if you stay, I will not accept you as my disciple. Don’t waste your time here. ”
