Di Fuyi carried him and examined the quality of his soul right away. The result showed that the baby was genuinely just a little infant. His body was not possessed by some other old, wicked spirit.

“Little one, you know a lot of things.” Di Fuyi then put him on the bed and pinned him down with one hand. With his other hand, he proceeded to place some pressure on his acupuncture points. “Come, let us talk. What else do you know?” He interrogated with a sarcastic smile.

The baby struggled under his grasp. Quietly, he pursed his lips into a thin line and said nothing. The baby acted very innocently and gazed at him with his big, bright eyes as if saying that he was only a baby who knew nothing. He was not going to tolerate any threats. If he had to, he would cry out loud.

Di Fuyi tried to think of a better way to confront the baby, but it was a problem he could not solve. He ended up ignoring the baby entirely and enjoyed his wine alone.

The baby continued to observe him for a brief period. After a while, he recited a poem, “Your discontentment will not be worked off by drinking.” He then added, “No amount of drinks will get you her heart.”

Di Fuyi’s hand trembled at his surprising remark; he almost spilled his wine. Before Di Fuyi moved, the baby quickly added, “Please do not seal away my verbal acupuncture point. I will now keep quiet.”

Soon, he continued with another well-thought question, “Aren’t you going to save my mother? She is probably waiting for you.”

Di Fuyi remained unconvinced and gave him a sarcastic remark in return, “Waiting for me? I believe that she doesn’t even want to see me. After spending some time with her, have you even heard her mention my name?”

The baby did not know what to say. She had never spoken of Di Fuyi in front of him. He did not want to lie, so he confessed, “Actually, I have not spent a lot of time with her. Furthermore, an outsider, Luo Zheng, was usually around.” In other words, he admitted that Gu Xijiu had never told him anything about Di Fuyi.

Di Fuyi seemed to understand the implied meaning in his words. He shook his head to dismiss the discouraging thoughts in his mind and decided to change the topic of discussion. “When Luo Zheng gave you away to Yuanyuan and her servants, did you tell him to do so?”

The baby looked at him with admiration as he said, “Your highness, you are indeed a quick-witted man for making such a smart guess.”

Di Fuyi continued slowly, “Gu Xijiu always knows when one is a good friend or not. If she did not trust Luo Zheng, she would not have handed you and the Xie Zhi over to him. Also, Luo Zheng did not seem like a cowardice man. He must have done so under someone else’s guidance.”

With a sigh, the baby agreed. “It is true. Luo Zheng is not entirely bright, but he really is a gentleman. I knew that he would definitely be killed as soon as he arrived at the princess’ residence, so I had to make an analysis and explained the consequences to him in advance. He was clearly shocked when I uttered my first word. I had to warn him first so that he would not look startled. I told him to do as I said, but he refused, saying that he would not go against the promise that he made to a friend. I told him that if he refused to do as planned, he would still be unable to keep Xie Zhi and me safe. Additionally, he would lose his own life. If he agreed to do as told, he could, at least, stay alive and earn some quick money- 50,000 devil coins. If he was really sorry, he could always wait for my mother’s return on the outskirts of the Devil Kingdom and return the coins to her someday.”

Di Fuyi threw a quick, judgemental look at him and said, “You really are an old, crafty rascal.”

The baby corrected him, “Judging from how tender I am, you should have called me a child with the guts to create great mischief.”

The man and the baby continued to chat for a while. Almost an hour later, the baby was finally impatient about Di Fuyi’s choice not to save his mother. Hastily, he urged him to leave.
