Venerated Venomous Consort

Gu Xijiu did not know what to say. The conversation only made her more frustrated. How could he lie to her in such a vicious way, all because he liked her? How could he use her loss of memory as an excuse to lie to her? Did he even really like her? He was making use of her misfortune to serve his own ends.

She hated it most when people lied to her, especially if it came from people that she really trusted. Before she saw Di Fuyi, she was still hoping that everything Yun Yanli told her was a lie. She hoped that Di Fuyi was the truthful one. Unfortunately, she would end up disappointed.

She tried to suppress her anger before it took over her senses. Her aura grew stronger each passing moment. “Are you Celestial Master Zuo? Were you Huang Tu, who used to be the Lord?”

The moment she asked the question, she immediately held her breath in a desperate wait for his answer. After a brief moment of silence, Di Fuyi finally confessed, “No.”

In utter disbelief, Gu Xijiu’s body trembled. The crimson flush of indignation on her cheeks slowly faded. Her face was as pale as a sheet. Assuming that she had a husband, she could not accept that she had slept with another man. She clenched her fists, trying to suppress her urge to kill someone.

She tried to keep calm for the last time and asked him with one final question, “Have you always known that I am engaged to another man? Did you know that I could already be someone else’s wife?”

Under the moonlight, Di Fuyi’s face looked ashen too. “Yes,” he briskly said.

Gu Xijiu’s frustration exceeded her tolerable threshold. She clenched her fists and could no longer suppress the urge to hit him. “Very well, Di Fuyi. I did not expect you to be such a despicable and shameless man.”

Fueled with anger, she aimed quite a powerful strike at him. The strike was accompanied by gusts of wind, stirring up the air and going straight up towards Di Fuyi.

“Bang!” The strike ended up on Di Fuyi’s chest. He lost his balance and took a few steps backward. Gu Xijiu had not expected the attack to really hurt him. Her heart wrenched for his injury. Why didn’t he avoid the strike? He could have easily moved away with his Kung Fu. Was he trying to make her feel bad?

Under the light, Di Fuyi stood up straight and looked at her fixedly. His eyes glistened with hope while he asked, “Can you kindly listen to my explanation?”

It was completely understandable that she would be mad when she found out the truth. It seemed that Di Fuyi was mentally prepared for the consequences.

“What is there to explain? Are you trying to say that you never lied to me? That you are the one I liked in the Upper Bound?” Gu Xijiu added.

Di Fuyi hesitated. “I admit that I have lied to you and I am sorry, but Xijiu, the one that you have been looking for no longer exists. He was immortalized. There is no chance of resurrection for him. If you choose not to believe me, you can ask Yun Yanli about it.”

Frustration filled her heart; Gu Xijiu had already heard about the death of her loved one from Yun Yanli. She had forgotten about the man but was somehow obsessed with him. There must be some hope in his resurrection since she refused to give up the search for so many years. However, even if there was no chance to resurrect Huang Tu, Di Fuyi should not have used his death as an excuse to make his lie sound more reasonable.

Driven by a sudden urge of indignation, she answered him scornfully, “So what if he no longer exists? He is the one I like, not you. I do not like the dirty tricks that you have used to approach me. Di Fuyi, I look down on you!”

Di Fuyi was shocked by her brutal honesty.
