Chapter 1702: The Sane Corpse Governor (2)

At that moment, the Evernight Demon King quietly stared at the Corpse Governor before suddenly flashing an elegant and gentle smile.

”You are indeed correct.” She lightly clasped her hands behind her back. ”No one in their right mind would interfere with an Abyssal Ordeal. Especially an Abyssal King’s Abyssal Ordeal.”

Her smile grew warmer as a profound, hidden aura emanated from her eyes. ”So, how about we simply leave? You peacefully become an Abyssal King and all our blessings shall be with you.”

Even the Evernight Fiend King glanced sideways as the proposal sounded absurd, but he knew the Evernight Demon King was doing this because of the danger the Corpse Governor now posed.

Yet, the Corpse Governor merely chuckled, ”So, this is the wisdom of the Evernight Demon King?”

His laughter became colder, and his corpse flames suddenly blazed as he sneered, ”A compelling offer. If only it hadn’t arrived too late. After all, since when has the Evernight Council ever backed away?”

His smile slowly twisted into open provocation, ”No. I want to see whether the two of you truly possess the courage to stop me, and put your lives on the line to protect your precious Evernight Council!”

The Evernight Demon King’s warning and gentle smile turned icy cold, as the previous expression had been a farce, not to mention that her trick of using her eyes didn’t work on the Corpse Governor, who had just developed the King’s Might.

But she was still holding back just to make sure she wouldn’t be noticed by the incoming Abyssal Ordeal.

Suddenly, before she could say another word, a black talisman appeared between the Corpse Governor’s fingers.

The Evernight Fiend King released his killing intent, and he was about to launch a full power attack when the Evernight Demon King tightly gripped his wrist.

”No!” She grimly stated.

The Evernight Fiend King glared at her coldly, but she didn’t back down, and in the end, he remained still, nor did the Evernight Demon King move. They simply watched.

The Corpse Governor, observing their interaction, couldn’t help but laugh with derision before he crushed the talisman.

’Crack!’

The next moment, space folded, and his figure instantly disappeared with a fleeting sentence, ”I’ll see you both on the surface!”

The next moment, silence returned, and only after several breaths did the Evernight Demon King quietly exhale.

”...He’s going to drag everyone into the Ordeal.” She stated before she looked at the Evernight Fined King, whose expression was twisted with fury, ”I know you wanted nothing more than to kill him in the cruelest way imaginable, but I can’t allow you to enter the Abyssal Ordeal.

”We have our sacred duty to protect the Evernight Council, and only with the Trinity Monarch Accord can we do it. No matter what, we can’t allow it to break, even if it means putting the rest of the children in danger!”

The Evernight Fiend King’s expression had already become frighteningly ugly, but he couldn’t refute the Evernight Demon King’s words, and he was forced to keep his emotions in check.

Despite his confidence in overcoming the Abyssal Ordeal, he couldn’t take the risk of perishing as long as they existed, even the slightest chance, unless another Abyssal Fiend King appeared, for it was directly related to the biggest secret of the Evernight Council.

He spoke in an icy tone, ”Alright, I won’t be reckless. Moreover, it’s not over yet, as we still don’t know what kind of Abyssal King Ordeal the Abyss will choose for that slippery bastard!”

He slowly gripped his halberd and his expression darkened. ”As long as it isn’t the King Execution Domain or the Ancient Monarch Hunt. We can still handle him.”

The Evernight Demon King slowly nodded, ”Indeed, those are two of the most difficult Abyssal King Ordeals recorded in the history of the Abyssal Plains. In fact, there’s a chance that he would be dragged directly into some forbidden zone with his abilities sealed.

”Moreover, even if the Abyssal Ordeal comes here, as long as no one is within its range, it won’t matter. And somehow, if he succeeded, then all we need to do is to be there and let him suffer the worst possible death for his insolence!”

The Evernight Demon King wasn’t kind; in fact, she was extremely vengeful, and what the Corpse Governor just did had directly put him into her must-kill category.

The next moment, she looked toward the distant ceiling as if already seeing beyond the Lower Grave Strata.

”Just to be safe, inform the Midnight Duke immediately, and have him activate the Realmbreaker Conquest Ark. We must gather every Evernight member and every participant before the Ordeal fully manifests.”

She sighed suddenly, ”Just when everything seemed to be progressing perfectly, this Sky Stealer appeared, and it is now confirmed that he was behind the downfall of the Undead Boundary and had taken all the treasures. Now this Corpse Governor had achieved the Abyssal King Realm, and we are helpless to stop him.”

The Evernight Fiend King’s eyes flickered as he almost forgot about the Sky Stealer in his fury, and he felt that the latter was even more terrifying than an Abyssal Ordeal because it all seemed to be a well-elaborate plot.

”Alright, I’ll go to the surface, and you should continue to investigate clues of who this Sky Stealer is exactly. After all, he’s still hidden while the Corpse Clan is in the open, and the hidden enemy is always the most dangerous.”

The Evernight Demon King nodded in agreement. ”I completely agree with you. We can’t open the sealed realm gates connected to the Evernight Sanctuary until we deal with this Sky Stealer!”

---

Far above, in the skies of the Upper Ancient Battlefield. Space quietly distorted as the Corpse Governor emerged.

He overlooked the battlefield below where Corpse Clan experts continued falling, and the Evernight Council steadily advanced.

Moreover, the Corpse Commanders’ corpse puppet vessels were nowhere to be seen, and he could sense Belfast and the remaining top Corpse Commanders’ corpse puppets locked in a battle somewhere on the battlefield, and their situation also seemed perilous.

The once impregnable Corpse Clan was now collapsing.

The Corpse Governor silently watched without any rage or madness, but only quiet acceptance.

”So, this is how it ends.”

He slowly raised his gaze toward the endless black sky, and the faint King’s Might surrounding him became increasingly profound.

The next moment, his ethereal voice softly echoed across the skies, ”Then...let it begin!”

The instant those words fell, the sky seemed to have opened its eyes, and a terrifying, profound pressure descended from beyond the Undead Cradle itself.

The Abyssal Ordeal began to manifest!
