Eternal Thief

Chapter 1677: The War Begins! (2)

”Still, this smell is unpleasant; I guess I’ll have to purify it!”

At that moment, the Evernight King’s small hand blurred as she formed countless signs with a terrifying speed.

The next moment, a strange white flask appeared in front of her; it was only palm-sized, snow white, and pristine, and at its center was an ethereal hexagram-shaped glyph glowing faintly.

The flask appeared harmless, almost decorative, yet the moment it emerged, the surrounding space subtly distorted.

Even the Evernight Fiend King glanced at it with a hint of wariness, as if he knew its origin.

Thereafter, the Evernight Demon King pointed the flask’s mouth toward the endless sea of Corpse Qi, and then she spoke casually.

”Alright, little guy.” She lightly tapped the flask, ”Eat up.”

For a brief moment, nothing happened. Instantly, thereafter, a tiny suction force emerged, barely noticeable like a child inhaling. But the next second, the flask trembled and the hexagram glyph lit up.

Thereby, the mouth of the flask widened unnaturally, and then...

’RUMMMMMBBBBBLLLLEEEEEEE!!!’

A colossal black vortex erupted from the flask’s opening, space collapsed, clouds exploded, and the heavens darkened as an enormous black hole manifested above the battlefield.

Its size rapidly expanded from hundreds of meters to tens of thousands of miles.

But what happened next was even more terrifying: the tilde wave, like Corpse Qi, spreading into the Undead Cradle, suddenly churned chaotically.

The next moment, the dense Corpse Qi suddenly started to flow upward, right where the enormous vortex had appeared. The endless Corpse Qi sea instantly rushed toward it, like rivers flowing into an ocean or stars falling into a singularity.

The Corpse Qi began to vanish at a terrifying rate into the vortex, which devoured it without pause. The black hole seemed bottomless and endless, as if nothing could escape its pull.

Below, countless Evernight trial participants and members of the Evernight Council stopped panicking and stared upward in disbelief.

”What the hell is that?!”

”My Corpse Qi detector just dropped to zero!”

”It’s disappearing!”

”It’s all disappearing!”

Even the Evernight Dukes stationed across the battlefronts noticed the phenomenon with solemn looks on their faces, and they didn’t dare blink, as if they might miss a rare opportunity.

Meanwhile, within the Corpse Clan’s territory, Belfast’s malignant expression finally changed, and the confidence he had just a moment ago vanished from his face.

”What...”

Seeing the endless ocean of Corpse Qi flowing into the vortex made even Belfast tremble with terror, as he felt with his Half-Abyssal King-grade law sense that the vortex originated from a terrifying source.

’A true Abyssal King Grade (Abyssal-Grade Nine) spirit treasure!?’

Before he could calm down, the formation beneath him trembled violently, and the Corpse Qi reserves accumulated over countless years were disappearing before his eyes.

The most damning thing about all of this was that those Corpse Qi reserves weren’t dispersing, being neutralized, or being purified, but were simply... eaten and devoured without any sign of stopping!

His heart sank further because he recognized that flask from a terrifying memory, the memory when the Evernight Council infiltrated, and they were forced to flee into the Undead Boundary.

At that time, the white flask also appeared; it was one of the Evernight Demon King’s personal treasures, the All-Abyss Devouring Flask. A treasure infamous even within the Evernight Sanctuary!

’The previous attack was from that arrogant Evernight Fiend King, and now the All-Abyss Devouring Flask has also appeared...’ Belfast felt true despair. ’Two Evernight Kings are present in the Undead Cradle! I need to report it to the others!’

Above the battlefield, the Evernight Demon King smiled happily as the All-Abyss Devouring Flask continuously devoured the Corpse Qi without end, like a starving beast finally being fed.

After the Corpse Qi’s density had dropped to almost none, she nodded in satisfaction.

”There, much better with that stench.”

The Evernight Fiend King merely laughed, a savage laugh filled with anticipation. Because now, nothing remained between the Evernight Council and the Corpse Clan.

The barrier was gone, the Corpse Qi advantage was disappearing, the battlefield was ready, and the real war was finally about to begin.

He said with savage anticipation, ”Let’s leave these filthy dregs to the young ones. I want to see just what is hidden in this realm that has denied us for countless years!”

The Evernight Demon King’s eyes also flickered with curiosity, ”You just snatch words from my mouth, Eldest Senior Brother. I’m looking forward to it!”

---

Ace looked at the enormous vortex with a solemn expression, and, like everyone else, he had witnessed everything.

”I seem we have underestimated the Evernight Council’s strength far more than we have initially assumed.” Ace communicated with Eva in a grave tone.

Eva was also serious as her devilish flickered coldly, ”It’s not the Evernight Council’s strength, but the Evernight Kings. Each one seemed to have distinct specialties and suitable treasures to complement them.

”Without Evernight Kings, even if they have a reserve of Abyssal Grade-8 Spirit Treasures, they won’t be able to use them. Even a Half-Abyssal King uses them; they can only bring out 30% of their power, and 50% if they burn their lifeform.

”Even if a Spirit Treasure is loyal to the Evernight Council, it can operate indefinitely without a massive amount of resources or unless the spirit treasure draws out its own spirit essence.

”If we want to investigate inside the Evernight Sanctuary, the Evernight Kings are our biggest hurdle!”

Ace couldn’t agree more with Eva as he had a similar opinion, for in front of the Evernight Council and Evernight Kings, the theft inside the Undead Boundary felt like child’s play now.

He replied coldly, ”But it seemed impossible to draw out all the Evernight Kings away from the Evernight Sanctuary. It’s quite clear that one of them would stay behind even if the other two left.

”This time, it’s because of the Undead Cradle that two of the Evernight Kings have personally taken action, and if I’m not wrong, they are probably after the treasures hidden within the Undead Boundary that allowed the Corpse Clan to resist the Evernight Council.”

Eva’s eyes subtly curved into a smile as she snickered, ”Heh, I almost forgot about those treasures. I guess they are bound to be disappointed and might even cough blood in anger once they discover they are all gone.”

Ace couldn’t help but smile faintly as he sneered, ”Well, if I hadn’t taken them, do you think it was even possible for the Evernight Council to destroy the Undead Boundary? If anything, they should be thanking me.”

”I know, I know, how capable you are since you can do everything by yourself!” Eva jeered at him with a hint of displeasure.

Ace instantly backed down, no longer boasting about the theft, knowing Eva was still unhappy about his solo adventure.

Eva smiled faintly when she felt Ace’s apologetic emotions and said, ”Anyway, speaking to treasures, I forgot to ask about the inventory you got from the Undead Boundary? Just how much you got?”

Ace’s eyes instantly flashed with a hint of pride as he ambiguously stated, ”It’s a secret for now. But I’ll give you a hint, I got enough to nurture at least five Abyssal King cultivators and fully arm them, and even after that, I’ll still have enough for myself!”
