Chapter 170: Chapter 142 Wolf Pack Development.

Su Lin led the Wolf Pack back.

The Wolf Clan members who cleaned up the battlefield also dragged back over thirty reindeer carcasses to the cave.

The battle seemed to show the Wolf Pack had gained quite a number of reindeer.

However, for hunters, hunting prey like reindeer was not supposed to result in a reduction of their numbers.

But it was mainly because the Deer King was too formidable, causing the Reindeer Group to break through the Wolf Pack’s encirclement.

At this moment, the morale of the Wolf Pack was slightly low,

fortunately, with the return of the Wolf King, the pack had their anchor.

Many times, in the frigid Arctic Tundra, members of the Wolf Clan would huddle together for mutual warmth.

And a powerful Wolf King could provide a greater sense of security for his wolves, as well as cohesiveness for the pack.

They wouldn’t scatter after one or two failures.

At this time, Su Lin looked at his pack, and such a pack was definitely at the top of the food chain in the harsh Arctic.

The Reindeer King who broke through a hunting circle formed by over three hundred wolves and a dozen bears truly possessed a strength that should not be underestimated.

It must have evolved into a variant species before the great changes in the world!

Plus, with Xiao Hui’s description of an eight or nine-meter body size, it meant it weighed at least several tons!

Should they succeed in the hunt, the abundant variant species flesh could provide Su Lin with a sizeable number of Evolution Points, and even the Wolf Pack would get a good share.

Therefore, that Reindeer King and the reindeer that fled to the north must be slain.

Yet, for now, Su Lin had to first heal his cousin.

Xiao Hui, as a variant species, had powerful vitality, and this injury was not enough to take its life.

But it was different for the cousin.

After returning to the cave, the cousin’s eyes were almost losing their spark.

This made Su Lin leap up, taking an Ice Mountain Lotus Petal from a high spot on the cave wall.

He then crushed the Ice Mountain Lotus Petal with his fanged tooth, placing a large half into the cousin’s wolf mouth, while indicating for Xiao Hui to swallow the rest.

This Ice Mountain Lotus was from the mysterious Ice Palace, with attributes of over Level Twenty-something.

Therefore, the pure energy and life essence contained within was massive.

The moment the Ice Mountain Lotus Fragments reached the cousin’s mouth, they transformed into a glow of white light that surged towards her limbs and organs.

The cousin’s shattered bones and internal organs began to mend under this gleaming white light.

This energy also continued to nourish the cousin’s wolf body, enhancing her strength.

The pure energy in the Ice Mountain Lotus Petal far exceeded that of variant species flesh.

After swallowing hundreds of pounds of variant species flesh, the cousin was already on the verge of evolving into a variant species.

Now, under the nourishment of this pure energy, she quickly began to evolve.

“Hum!”

The pure energy that manifested into a variant species did not bring the pain associated with Variant Species Serum.

Therefore, the cousin’s evolution process was not as agonizing as what the Wolf Father had experienced!

With a hum, her body trembled slightly.

Under this glow of white light, the cousin began to enhance covertly.

Evolving into a variant species meant an elevation on a genetic level.

After the evolution into a variant species, it was not just her strength that increased significantly, but all aspects of her abilities as well.

Intelligence, Vitality, Impact Resistance, sharpness of talons and fanged teeth, agility of limbs, and more.

So a variant species of the same Level could easily kill an ordinary species of the same level without much effort!

Seeing his cousin’s signs of life stabilizing, Su Lin stopped watching.

This ordeal may have been a blessing in disguise for his cousin, with the nourishment from the Ice Mountain Lotus Fragments,

it seemed likely she could not only evolve into a variant species but would also enter a period of rapid development afterward.

As for Xiao Hui, having swallowed the other small half of the Ice Mountain Lotus Fragment, the wounds on its body were also healing swiftly, and its strength was growing as well!

Xiao Hui’s presence quickly advanced to Level 8, and it was still increasing.

As for the boost in strength for both the cousin and Xiao Hui, Su Lin nodded approvingly.

The two of them had been following him the longest,

there was no need to speak of their loyalty, and their increase in strength would be a great help to him.

As for the remaining Ice Mountain Lotus Petal and twelve Black Fruit Rock Gao Lan fruits, Su Lin planned to consume a few himself.

The rest would serve as rewards for the Wolf Pack.

Soon, the Little Lone Wolf brought Wolf Sister and the Grey White Little Wolf back.

Su Lin instructed the Little Lone Wolf to plant the Exotic Black Fruit Rock Gao Lan at the back of the cave.

That place was quiet and vast, fitting the environmental needs of the Exotic Flowers.

Following that,

Su Lin began pondering over the Reindeer King!

“Migrating northwards?”

This made him frown slightly.

In principle, the north is colder, most of the region is tundra, and there is an even scarcer supply of grasses and mosses for food.

And the amount of food needed by a hundred reindeer is massive.

This led Su Lin to quickly come up with a possibility, then a flash of insight shone in his eyes!

There must be some food rich in pure energy in the north, or else the Deer King would not lead the Reindeer Group there!

This further cemented Su Lin’s resolve to lead the Wolf Pack on an expedition to the north!

After all, the hunters in this region had pretty much been cleared out.

Leaving a group of thirty to fifty wolves to patrol the territory should be enough.

The rest could set off directly for the distance, not only to seek revenge but to see what the north truly offered.

Not to mention any huge fortuitous encounters, even if they found one or two more Exotic Flowers, that would be tens of thousands of Evolution Points,

and the Wolf Pack would also reap considerable benefits!

Thinking along these lines, Su Lin stood up and started to survey the Wolf Pack.

With a low howl, he signaled for the pack to drag out ten pieces of Reindeer Meat for a feed!

Today’s battle, though costly for the Wolf Pack, at least showed that the assembled pack had begun to form an initial cohesion and combat strength!

They wouldn’t just scatter when faced with a formidable enemy!

“””

So these ten-plus reindeer were a bonus meal for the wolf pack today!

“Awoo!”

…

After Su Lin signalled for the wolf pack to start feasting,

immediately, two to three hundred wolves responded with howling.

The joy of the extra meal also somewhat dispelled the downcast mood of the pack.

To the wolves, food is the most important thing, second only to life itself.

To survive, food is indispensable.

Facing the newly acquired bounty, many wolves began to vie for their share.

There were fierce clashing and fighting, but such competition for food within the pack had long been the norm!

The strong are revered!

The robust wolves naturally get to enjoy more of the food!

On this, Su Lin did not intend to make any changes!

After all, what the pack truly sought was never the superficial courtesy but the wildness, the fierceness!

Because in the cruel wilderness, only the fiercest hunters can survive better!

But the wolf pack’s fights and skirmishes, under the watchful eye of the Wolf King, were not too excessive.

After determining the winners, many stronger wolves began to enjoy their priority share of the food.

Su Lin paid special attention to these victorious wolves.

Among them was one particular wolf, the most robust and conspicuous!

Su Lin remembered this wolf.

It was a lone wolf that had joined the pack during its expansion.

This wolf was the first Level 6 Peak Arctic Wolf to swear allegiance!

It could be said that a wolf capable of growing to Level 6 Peak strength among ordinary species has notable potential!

Moreover, after consuming the allotted Variant Species Flesh, it had advanced to Level 7!

Its aura even carried the scent of Variant Species Evolution!

It was evident that, once it fully digested the energy of the Variant Species Flesh within its body, it would officially evolve into a Variant Species!

This made Su Lin nod in approval!

It must be said that after the massive distribution of Variant Species Flesh, the overall strength of the wolf pack had indeed surged forward!

He planned to wait until the pack’s strength, along with Xiao Hui and his cousin’s recent advancements, were solidified before leading the pack on an expedition to the north!

Hundreds of wolves and over ten bears would form a vast and powerful force on the Arctic tundra!

Since there were wonders in the north, why not conquer the northern territories as well?

With his unique, non-human thought process, Su Lin knew how to station his wolves across the territory, avoiding the clustering of the entire pack in one location.

This would allow the pack to rule over a larger area.

With these thoughts in mind, Su Lin looked northward, ambition and a murderous intent boiling in his wolf eyes.

…

Meanwhile,

unknown to Su Lin, within the territory of the wolf pack, a young musk ox with a broken leg was furiously consuming moss and shrubs on the ground!

It ate tirelessly, having stripped the nearby moss and shrubs to the ground!

For three days and nights, without resting or sleeping, its persistent eating alarmed the musk ox group!

Even the calf’s mother wanted to comfort her child.

Even if Su Lin had witnessed this scene, he would have no recollection of this musk ox calf,

but if Little Lone Wolf were here, it would immediately recognize this calf as the one cruelly dragged out from the musk ox group during its first hunt with the wolf pack!

It was this musk ox calf that disrupted the musk oxen’s formation!

Now the musk ox group had already fought and decided on a new leader, who naturally claimed all the females within the group!

During the mating season, the Musk Ox Leader began to mate widely, preparing to breed his progeny!

The calf’s mother was naturally among them,

and the young musk ox had tried to protect its mother but was brutally disciplined by the leader a few days earlier!

After that, the young musk ox started its frenzied feeding.

The mother initially thought her calf was traumatized and sought to comfort it.

“Moo!”

The low bellow of the musk ox echoed as the mother nudged the neck of her calf with her head!

But soon, when she saw the blood-red eyes of her calf, she was startled!

Furthermore, she sensed that in just these few days, her calf’s size had surged dramatically!

It was now almost comparable to her own size!

The overpowering aura on its body gave her palpitations!

It was then that the young musk ox finally stopped eating and let out a long roar to the sky!

“Moo!”

The bellow resounded through the cold Arctic!

The calf’s horns became incredibly sharp, its thick hide even tougher, and its limbs gained agility!

Its pair of blood-red eyes first looked at its mother,

then it turned, raising its head high, directing its gaze towards the strong Musk Ox Leader among the group!

Its eyes flickered with hate and a thirst for vengeance!

The position of the group’s leader was supposed to be its own, all the female musk oxen should have been his!

Only he was meant to perpetuate and pass on his father’s and his own genes!

“Moo!”

With a furious bellow,

the young musk oxen, with its pair of sharp horns, charged fiercely towards the Musk Ox Leader who was enjoying the females’ attention!
