Chapter 84: Chapter 84 The Blizzard Rages On.

“`

Time passed quickly,

and in the blink of an eye, three days had gone by.

After getting up from the cave,

Su Lin stood at the entrance and looked out at the increasingly heavy blizzard.

Originally, the two wolfesses that were patrolling near the cave,

unable to bear the bone-chilling cold wind, had already taken shelter trembling at the entrance.

Su Lin let out a low howl, signaling them to come inside.

Only then did the two wolfesses run into the cave, relieved.

The dignity of the lead wolf was significant within the wolf pack.

Had he not signaled for the wolfesses to come in,

they likely would have kept trembling at the cave entrance.

The storm outside was howling,

stirring up the ice and snow that flew about in the sky.

Su Lin let out a low howl, calling Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf,

preparing to go out and check on the prey in the territory and the two wolfesses patrolling the area.

The current level of the blizzard,

was something that only Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf, as variant species, could withstand.

“Ao! Ao!”

Two responses of wolf howls sounded.

Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf quickly followed behind Su Lin.

Stepping out of the cave,

the snow whipped up by the storm slapped against Su Lin, giving him bursts of chilliness.

Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf were following closely behind him.

In such a strong storm,

their sense of smell had lost its tracking function.

Even Su Lin’s vision

was reduced to less than two to three hundred meters in this blizzard.

First, Su Lin checked on the two wolfesses,

and found that they were old hands at surviving in the wild.

They had found a small cave before the blizzard came.

Currently, the two wolfesses were snuggling together for warmth.

With a regular supply of food,

one of the wolfesses, stalled at level 3 due to malnutrition, had finally grown to barely reach level 4.

Currently, all four Hai Wolves in the pack had also reached level 4.

Only at level 4 could one barely be considered a mature Arctic wolf.

The two wolfesses, seeing Su Lin arrive,

were wagging their tails, presenting appeasement gestures to the lead wolf.

They were also reporting the findings from their patrols over the last few days.

From the wolfesses’ report,

Su Lin generally understood that under the storm,

the animals in the territory had also begun to seek sheltered places to rest.

The Musk Ox Group and the Moose Herd,

in a battle over an area of mountain wall sheltered from the wind,

had a brief yet intense skirmish,

with the Musk Ox Group ultimately winning.

After all, the team charge of the Musk Ox Group was quite destructive.

And among the Moose Herd, an adult moose had been injured severely.

Although it was still hanging on,

facing such a massive blizzard, it was probably doomed.

As for the two Reindeer Groups, large and small,

they had also found places sheltered from the wind

and were resting for the moment.

With the blizzard raging fiercely,

many animals couldn’t go out to feed,

so resting was the best way for them to conserve their strength.

“Ao!”

Su Lin let out a low howl,

affirming the report from the two wolfesses.

After all, marching through the blizzard for patrols already symbolized the wolfesses’ dedication.

He indicated to the two wolfesses that they could go to the cave after the blizzard stopped

to get an extra portion of food.

This made both wolfesses excitedly howl repeatedly.

For them,

the reward of food surpassed anything else.

Because only food was most intimately related to survival.

Next,

Su Lin once again led Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf to patrol the territory,

and incidentally checked on the animals hiding from the wind and snow.

“`

Amidst their survival instincts,

animals were curled up beneath the rock walls and in the dissolving caves,

conserving their maximum physical strength and body heat against the ferocious blizzard.

During this time, Su Lin also spotted the injured moose.

The moose had been butted by a musk ox herd so fiercely that its ribs and leg bones were broken.

Even its antlers were snapped on one side.

This showed the formidable force of a musk ox’s charge.

Struggling, the moose tried to crawl towards the shelter of the rock walls,

but ultimately failed to reach them.

Instead, it leaned against a bush, shivering violently.

In no time, its body was mostly covered by snow and ice.

Despite its thick fur for insulation,

it still couldn’t withstand such a severe blizzard.

The moose’s body was gradually stiffening,

and it knew it was dying.

“Yo!”

Driven by its will to live, it let out a call toward the direction of the moose herd.

But sadly,

its desperate cry was quickly dispersed by the howling blizzard,

unable to carry far.

Su Lin signaled Little Lone Wolf and Xiao Hui to advance,

to kill the moose and drag it back to the cave.

Since death was inevitable anyway,

bringing it back as a reserve food source for the wolf pack was the right thing to do.

This moose was an adult,

weighing around 800 or 900 pounds, enough to feed the pack for a while.

The blizzard had been raging for two days now with no sign of when it would stop.

Stocking up on additional food was always wise.

Upon receiving the command, Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf

swiftly charged forward,

and within seconds,

the moose was put to death by the duo’s ripping and tearing.

After killing the moose,

Little Lone Wolf and Xiao Hui dragged its corpse back to the cave against the storm.

Along the way,

the cold winds were biting.

This was the wolf pack’s territory, not far from the cave.

Yet against the blizzard,

it took over an hour to drag it back to the cave.

Now,

with another moose brought in,

the food supply in the cave was close to reaching two thousand pounds.

This made the members of the wolf pack feel a strong sense of security and contentment.

In the cave,

Wolf Sister and Grey White Little Wolf were nearing a breakthrough to Level 3.

It was estimated that it would happen within the next few days.

Both young wolves had grown to about a meter and a tenth in size,

with Wolf Sister’s body being slightly bigger.

Apart from that,

among the rest of the pack members,

Little Lone Wolf was advancing the fastest,

previously unable to grow due to insufficient food.

But now, with plenty of food available,

it had taken a big step toward breaking through to Level 5.

At this rate,

it was expected to reach Level 5 in another month or two.

A Level 5 Variant Species Arctic Wolf was almost equal in numerical strength to a Level 6 Arctic Wolf,

but in terms of combat power,it would definitely surpass a Level 6 Arctic Wolf,

given its heightened sensory acuity, the sharpness of its Wolf Claws and fanged teeth, and its impact resistance, all of which were incomparable to those of an ordinary Arctic Wolf.

When that time came,

with two Level 5 Variant Species Arctic Wolves, even if Su Lin didn’t intervene,

they would be capable of leading the pack to hunt plenty of game.

Moreover, it was time for him to start preparing to advance to Level 9.

“Should it be the lynx or the polar bear?”

At this moment, Su Lin shook the ice and snow off his wolf body,

and his pale blue wolf eyes looked out into the storm, a flicker of ferocity flashing through them.
